Installation Instructions
Product Overview & Safety Information
CAUTION! For outdoor use. Installation requires rain-tight or wet location conduit hubs compliant with UL 514B standards. Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician. Always turn power OFF at the circuit breaker before installation.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS before using the ECO Smart Box. Note the Mac address if required by your router. Compatible with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Power Indicator:
- Status Indicator (Blinking Light): Ready to connect to Wi-Fi router.
- Status Indicator (Light continuously ON): Connection to Wi-Fi router is complete and the Smart Box is ready for app use.
- Status Indicator (Light OFF): Check internet connection or review app FAQ.
Power Button: Press to manually override the Smart Box and turn the unit ON/OFF.
Reset Button: Used for resetting the Smart Box.
IMPORTANT: Refer to the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION SHEET before connecting to a Wi-Fi router. The Dewenwils Smart Box must be installed first.
Connecting the Smart Box to a Wi-Fi Router
Ensure the blue light on the Smart Box is blinking, indicating it's ready for setup. If not blinking, reset the Smart Box as per the FAQ. Make sure controlled devices are switched ON.
The blue light will remain continuously ON once the Wi-Fi connection is established and the Smart Box is accessible via the app.
Download the ECO App: Available on the App Store (iOS 7 or higher) and Google Play (Version 4 or higher).
Setup Steps:
- Tap your smartphone's Settings icon.
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon.
- Select the ECO Smart Box from the available networks.
- Tap the ECO icon.
- Choose your home router from the network list.
- Enter your Wi-Fi router password.
- Fill in required information (e.g., ZIP code for US residents).
- Click the SAVE SETTINGS or JOIN button.
Adding Additional Smart Boxes: Repeat steps 1-3 for each additional Smart Box, assigning a unique name to each (e.g., "Master Bedroom," "Home Office"). Each Smart Box can control one or two circuits.
App Features
- Light Control: Control individual lights or circuits.
- Settings: Configure Wi-Fi Smart Box, transfer to cloud mode, or rename the device.
- Timer: Set up to 12 custom ON/OFF programs with specific times and days.
- Programmable Timer: Set custom ON-OFF events.
- Countdown Timer: Automatically turns off the controlled device after a set time.
- Astronomic Timer: Turns devices ON or OFF at sunrise or sunset.
- Vacation Random: Randomly turns devices ON or OFF within specified time frames to simulate occupancy.
- Security Random: Randomly turns devices ON or OFF within chosen start and end times for enhanced security.
- Cloud Icon: Activates remote access via cellular data or other Wi-Fi networks.
- Mailbox Icon: Access consumer service or share app feedback.
Programming and Editing Timer Programs
Programming the Timer:
- Tap the Timer icon.
- Tap the Add icon (+).
- Select the desired timer function, set ON/OFF times, minutes, and days.
- Tap the checkmark to accept.
Editing the Timer Program:
- iOS: Tap the Timer icon, then tap the Edit icon. Click the arrow to enter editing mode.
- Android: Tap the Timer icon, then tap and hold the program to edit. The edit pop-up window will appear.
Activating Cloud Service
Tap the Settings icon in the app, then tap the Wi-Fi icon. Add the device to the cloud to activate cloud status.
To remove cloud service: Follow the same steps and tap "Remove device from the cloud."
Adding Multiple Users
To allow additional users access, repeat the steps for adding a device to the cloud using their smartphone or tablet, linking to the same home router.

Access the FAQ section via the "More" icon in the app or by visiting the FAQ link.
To Reset the Smart Box:
- Press and hold the Power button while simultaneously pressing the Reset button with a non-conductive item (like a toothpick) for 3-5 seconds until the Wi-Fi Status Indicator light turns off.
- Release the Power button. The Smart Box is now reset.
- The Wi-Fi Status Indicator light will blink, indicating it's ready for reconnection. This process removes all programmed settings and disconnects the app connection.

Installation Instructions
WARNING: This timer must be installed by a licensed electrician. Turn power off at the main panel before servicing.
IMPORTANT: For outdoor use. Rain-tight or wet location conduit, hubs, tubing, and cable fittings complying with UL 514B must be used.
- Read Important Safety Information.
- Open the outer cover by releasing the spring latch.
- Remove the interior protective cover by undoing the two screws (Figure 1).
- Select knockouts: Remove the inner 1/2” knockout. If a 3/4” knockout is needed, remove the outer ring after the 1/2” knockout. Smooth any rough edges.
- Position the Smart Box, mark the mounting keyhole location. Install a screw partially, then attach the Smart Box by placing the keyhole over the screw and tightening firmly.
- Wire in accordance with national and local codes. Use only copper conductors (#8 AWG wire, rated for at least 175° F / 80° C). Tighten connections to 12in-lbf.
- Grounding: Terminate all ground wires to the grounding lug at the bottom of the enclosure (Figure 2).
- Replace the interior protective cover.
- Close the outer cover. The Smart Box is now ready for Wi-Fi router connection via the app.
Important Safety Information:
- WARNING: Risk of Fire or Electric Shock. Read instructions thoroughly before installation and keep for future reference.
- Disconnect power at the circuit breaker and verify power is off before installing or servicing. Multiple circuit breakers or disconnect switches may be needed.
- Wiring must comply with all national and local electrical code requirements. Use a voltage meter to check all terminals and wires before touching.
- The maximum total load must not exceed the Smart Box capacity.
- The enclosure does not provide grounding between conduit connectors. If metallic conduit is used, install grounding type bushings and jumper wires per National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.

- N: Neutral
