1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your ieGeek 8MP PoE Security Camera System. This system includes 4 wired outdoor cameras with 355° pan and 90° tilt capabilities, an 8-channel NVR with a pre-installed 2TB HDD, and advanced features like automatic human tracking, AI detection, 2-way audio, and color night vision.

The system is designed for reliable and precise monitoring, offering unparalleled clarity with 8MP ultra-high-definition resolution. Its Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology simplifies installation by providing power and data through a single Ethernet cable.

3. Product Overview

Familiarize yourself with the main components of your security system:

3.1. POE Camera Features

  • IP65 Waterproof Case: Durable housing for outdoor use.
  • Speaker: For two-way audio communication and audible alerts.
  • 4PCS Warm Lights: For enhanced color night vision.
  • 3PCS IR-LEDs: For infrared night vision.
  • Microphone: For audio input and two-way communication.
  • 2-in-1 POE Port: Combines network and power connection.

3.2. NVR (Network Video Recorder) Ports

  • Power Switch: To turn the NVR on/off.
  • POE LAN Ports: Connect PoE cameras directly.
  • Audio Output: For connecting external speakers.
  • VGA Output: For connecting to a VGA monitor.
  • HDMI Output: For connecting to an HDMI display.
  • Router Port: For connecting the NVR to your network router.

4. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your ieGeek PoE Security Camera System:

4.1. Physical Installation

  1. Mounting Cameras: Choose suitable outdoor locations for your cameras, ensuring clear views and access to Ethernet cable runs. Use the provided positioning stickers and screw packs for secure mounting. The IP65 waterproof rating allows for outdoor installation, but placement under eaves or covered areas is recommended for extended durability.
  2. Connecting Cameras to NVR: Connect each PoE camera to an available POE LAN port on the NVR using the provided 18.3m network cables. These cables supply both power and video data.

4.2. NVR Connection

  1. Connect to Display: Connect the NVR to a monitor or TV using either the HDMI or VGA output port.
  2. Connect USB Mouse: Plug the USB mouse into one of the NVR's USB ports for navigation.
  3. Network Connection: Connect the NVR's Router port to your home router using the 1-meter NVR network cable. This enables remote access and app functionality.
  4. Power On: Connect the DC 48V power adapter to the NVR and plug it into a power outlet. Flip the power switch to turn on the NVR.

4.3. Initial Configuration & App Setup

  1. NVR Interface: Once powered on, the NVR will boot up. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the initial setup, including setting a password and configuring basic network settings.
  2. Mobile App: Download the "ieGeek Cam" app from your smartphone's app store (available on Google Play and Apple App Store).
  3. Add Device: Open the app, create an account, and add your NVR system by scanning the QR code displayed on the NVR's monitor or entering the device ID manually.
  4. Remote Access: Once added, you can view live feeds, playback recordings, and manage settings remotely from your smartphone or tablet.

5. Operating Instructions

This section details the various operational features of your ieGeek security system.

5.1. Live View and Playback

  • Live View: Access live camera feeds through the NVR connected to a monitor or via the ieGeek Cam mobile app. The 8MP resolution provides ultra-clear images.
  • 24/7 Continuous Recording: The system records continuously to the pre-installed 2TB hard drive. This ensures no moments are missed. The NVR supports up to a 10TB hard drive for extended storage.
  • Playback: Review recorded footage directly from the NVR interface or through the mobile app. You can navigate through timelines to find specific events.

5.2. PTZ Control and Human Tracking

  • Pan & Tilt: Control the camera's movement with 355° pan and 90° tilt functionality via the NVR interface or the mobile app to cover a wide surveillance area.
  • Digital Zoom: Utilize the 4x digital zoom feature to magnify details in the live or recorded footage, such as faces or license plates.
  • Automatic Human Tracking: When a person is detected, the camera will automatically pan and tilt to follow their movement, ensuring continuous coverage of the subject.

5.3. AI Detection and Alerts

  • Advanced AI Detection: The system uses AI to intelligently distinguish between the movement of people, vehicles, packages, and pets, reducing false alarms.
  • Instant Alerts: Upon detecting motion, the camera sends instant notifications to your mobile phone within 3 seconds.
  • Alarm Actions: Configurable alarm actions include recording alarm video, activating an alarm sound (siren), and turning on the spotlight to deter intruders.

5.4. Two-Way Audio

Communicate with visitors or deter intruders using the built-in microphone and speaker. This feature allows for real-time two-way conversations through the mobile app.

5.5. Night Vision

The cameras offer both infrared (IR) night vision for black and white images in low light and color night vision, activated by the 4PCS warm lights, for full-color images even in darkness.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your security system.

6.1. Cleaning

  • Camera Lenses: Gently wipe camera lenses with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust and smudges. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Camera Housing: Clean the camera housing with a damp cloth. Do not use strong chemicals.
  • NVR: Keep the NVR unit free from dust. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.

6.2. Firmware Updates

Periodically check for firmware updates through the ieGeek Cam app or the NVR interface. Updates can provide new features, improve performance, and enhance security.

6.3. Environmental Considerations

The cameras are designed to withstand various weather conditions (IP65 rated). However, extreme temperatures outside the operating range of -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C) or prolonged direct exposure to harsh elements may affect performance. Ensure proper installation to minimize direct exposure to heavy rain or snow.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter and provides solutions.

7.1. No Image Displayed on Monitor/App

  • Check Power: Ensure the NVR is powered on and the power adapter is securely connected.
  • Check Cables: Verify that HDMI/VGA cables are securely connected to both the NVR and the display. Ensure Ethernet cables are properly connected between cameras and NVR.
  • NVR Status: Check the NVR's indicator lights. If abnormal, refer to the NVR's specific troubleshooting guide.
  • Camera Status: If a specific camera has no image, check its connection to the NVR.

7.2. No Remote Access via App

  • Network Connection: Ensure the NVR is connected to your router and has internet access. Check your router's internet connection.
  • App Status: Make sure your smartphone has a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
  • Device Binding: Confirm the NVR is correctly added and online in the ieGeek Cam app.

7.3. Frequent False Alarms

  • Adjust Detection Sensitivity: Lower the motion detection sensitivity settings in the NVR or app.
  • Configure Detection Zones: Set up specific detection zones to exclude areas with irrelevant motion (e.g., public roads, swaying trees).
  • AI Detection: Ensure AI detection for people/vehicles/packages/pets is enabled and configured correctly to filter out non-relevant movements.

7.4. Poor Night Vision

  • Clean Lens: Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions.
  • IR/Warm Light Obstruction: Check for any physical obstructions blocking the IR LEDs or warm lights.
  • Power Supply: Ensure the camera is receiving adequate power.
