5. Installation

The SVP712 is designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Power Off: Ensure the main power supply to the circuit is completely disconnected before beginning installation.
  2. Mounting: Clip the device onto a standard 35mm DIN rail in your electrical panel.
  3. Wiring: Connect the incoming neutral (N) and live (L) wires to the 'IN' terminals at the top of the device. Connect the outgoing neutral (N) and live (L) wires to the 'OUT' terminals at the bottom of the device. Ensure all connections are secure and tightened appropriately.
  4. Verification: Double-check all wiring for correctness and security before restoring power.

6. Setup and Configuration

The SVP712 allows for adjustable protection values. Use the 'SET' button and adjustment buttons (up/down arrows) to configure the parameters.

  1. Access Settings: Press the 'SET' button to enter the configuration mode. The display will show the current setting for a parameter (e.g., over-voltage limit).
  2. Adjust Parameters: Use the 'ADJ' (up/down arrow) buttons to increase or decrease the value.
  3. Navigate Settings: Press 'SET' again to cycle through different adjustable parameters:
    • Over-voltage (>U) Setting Range: Adjustable from 230V to 300V, or 'OFF' to disable.
    • Under-voltage (<U) Setting Range: Adjustable from 140V to 210V, or 'OFF' to disable.
    • Electric Current (>A) Setting Range: Adjustable from 1A up to 40A or 63A (depending on model), or 'OFF' to disable.
    • Reset / Start Delay Time: Adjustable from 1 to 600 seconds. This is the delay before the device automatically restores power after a voltage event has passed.
  4. Save Settings: The device typically saves settings automatically after a few seconds of inactivity in configuration mode, or by cycling through all settings and exiting.

7. Operating Instructions

Once installed and configured, the SVP712 operates automatically to protect your electrical system.

  • Normal Operation: The digital display will continuously show the real-time voltage of the circuit. The green 'R/T' indicator light will be on, indicating normal operation.
  • Over-voltage Protection: If the voltage exceeds the set '>U' limit, the device will trip within 0.5 seconds, disconnecting the load. The '>U' indicator light will illuminate.
  • Under-voltage Protection: If the voltage drops below the set '<U' limit, the device will trip within 0.5 seconds, disconnecting the load. The '<U' indicator light will illuminate.
  • Automatic Recovery: After a trip event, once the voltage returns to a safe range and remains stable for the duration of the 'Reset / Start Delay Time', the device will automatically reconnect the power supply to the load.
  • Current Limit Protection: If the current exceeds the set '>A' limit, the device will trip, protecting against overload.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Check the main power supply and ensure wiring to the 'IN' terminals is correct and secure.
  • Frequent tripping: Review your set over-voltage, under-voltage, and current limits. They might be too sensitive for your electrical environment. Check for actual voltage fluctuations or overloads in your system.
  • No automatic recovery: Ensure the 'Reset / Start Delay Time' is set to a value greater than 0. Verify that the voltage has returned to a stable, safe range.
  • Incorrect voltage display: While the device has a 2% accuracy, significant discrepancies might indicate a faulty unit or an issue with the incoming power supply.

9. User Tips

  • Optimal Settings: For most residential applications, setting the over-voltage limit slightly above your nominal voltage (e.g., 240-250V for a 230V system) and the under-voltage limit slightly below (e.g., 190-200V) can provide good protection without unnecessary tripping.
  • Delay Time: A longer reset delay time (e.g., 60-180 seconds) can be beneficial for protecting sensitive equipment like refrigerators or air conditioners, allowing their compressors to stabilize after a power interruption.

10. Maintenance

The SVP712 requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Annually inspect the wiring connections to ensure they remain tight and free from corrosion. Check for any signs of physical damage to the device.

11. Warranty and Support

For warranty information or technical support, please refer to the documentation provided with your purchase or contact SINOTIMER customer service directly. Ensure you have your model number (SVP712) and purchase details available when seeking support.
