  • Special Tools: none

Product Information:

The Midmark Anesthetic Record Interface is designed to
facilitate the submission of anesthetic record summary and data
into a patient’s record within a hospital’s Practice Information
Management System (PIMS). It requires integration with the Midmark
Multiparameter Monitor and utilizes PracticeSync software developed
by Animal Care Technologies (ACT).

Product Usage Instructions:

Setting up the Midmark Multiparameter Monitor:

  1. Configure the monitor with the appropriate network settings
(LAN or Wi-Fi) for data transfer.
  2. If needed, work with the local IT department to configure Wi-Fi
and IP settings based on the Practice Management server
    network.
  3. Keep a USB storage device plugged into the monitor to export
    procedure data after each case.

Using the Anesthetic Record Interface:

  1. Identify the PIMS Patient ID using the provided images or
reference the Multiparameter User Guide for Patient Setup.
  2. To import a new anesthetic record, right-click on the
PracticeSync icon in the system tray and select Midmark Anesthetic
    Record Interface.
  3. Select and import the data file for the correct patient and
    follow the prompts.
  4. Manually enter any additional data recorded during the
procedure and edit fields as needed before creating the
    record.

FAQ:

Q: What should I do if the Anesthetic Record Interface is not
finding the correct patient in the PIMS?

A: If the correct patient is not found, you can manually search
for the client/patient by entering relevant variables and using the
search functionality provided. If there are many results, follow
the prompts to narrow down the search.

Thank you for subscribing to the Midmark Anesthetic Record Interface. This document will explain the step-by-step instructions to submit the anesthetic record summary and data into a patient’s record within a hospital’s Practice Information Management System (PIMS). Midmark partners with Animal Care Technologies (ACT) to implement and support this integration using their PracticeSync software.
Prior to using the Midmark Anesthetic Record Interface for the first time, the Midmark Multiparameter Monitor must be configured with the appropriate network settings (LAN or Wi-Fi) to allow for data transfer. If necessary, work with the local IT department to identify what network the Practice Management server is on so that Wi-Fi and IP settings of the monitor can be configured accordingly. Detailed instructions can be found in Section 6 of the Midmark Multiparameter Monitor User Guide.

Note
It is recommended to keep a USB storage device plugged into the monitor at all times and export procedure data to USB after each case before patient discharge.
An internet disruption will affect the streaming of data from the monitor to the Anesthetic Record Interface, which can impact the amount of parameter data recorded and the ECG wave graphic in the Anesthetic Record Summary report. To ensure a complete and uninterrupted representation of patient data, upload the exported USB file from the monitor to the Anesthetic Record Interface.

Work Instructions

1. To identify PIMS Patient ID to be entered into the Midmark Multiparameter Monitor, reference the following images. Refer to Multiparameter User Guide, Sec 6.2 for Patient Setup.

2. To import a new anesthetic record into a PIMS using the Midmark Anesthetic Record Interface, right-click on the PracticeSync icon in the system tray and select Midmark Anesthetic Record Interface.
3. A pop-up window will appear to select and import the data file for an anesthetic record. Select the applicable file for the correct patient and click Next. It will likely be the top item in the list with a status of Ready. To import an anesthetic record that was exported to USB, click Upload Record Data to import it to the Midmark Anesthetic Record Interface.

4. The patient ID entered on the monitor for the patient will appear on the left and automatically search for the correct patient in the PIMS on the right. If it does not, or if one is not found, the user may instead search for the client/patient by entering one or more variables on the left, then clicking Search. Search functionality is dependent on Practice Management Software. If the inquiry returns many results, a pop-up message will prompt the user to narrow the search.

6. Multiple manual input fields will then be visible. Optionally, enter any additional data that was manually recorded during the procedure and edit data fields populated from the monitor as required. The user can scroll down to see all optional data fields. When finished, or if there is no additional information to be added, click the Create Record button.

5. When one or more client/patient records is visible in the list on the right, select the correct client/patient for this anesthetic record and click Next.

7. After processing the request, the message Record Successfully Created will be visible at the bottom of the window to confirm that this record was successfully added to the patient’s medical history.

8. The PIMS database can then be accessed to view the newly created anesthetic record summary in the patient’s medical history record. Each PIMS has a different way to access the PDF attachment from the line item in the medical history record. (Below are examples. This screen could look different depending on what PIMS the user is accessing.)
