When cleaning your MacBook, you must avoid specific chemicals and materials to prevent permanent damage to the screen and enclosure. According to Apple's safety guidelines:

• Prohibited Chemicals: Do not use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide.
• Dangers: Using these substances can damage the protective coating on the display or the finish of the aluminum body.
• Safe Method: Use a soft, lint-free cloth. You may dampen it slightly with water if necessary. For disinfecting, you may use a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes on hard, nonporous surfaces.
• Warning: Never spray liquid directly onto the computer, and ensure no moisture gets into any openings (like ports or the keyboard).
