9. Safety Instructions
The Hiboy S2R electric scooter is a leisure device. However, in public areas, it is considered a vehicle and is subject to the same risks. For your safety, follow the instructions in this manual and all applicable traffic laws and regulations.
Understand that risks cannot be entirely avoided. Others may violate traffic regulations and drive incautiously, exposing you to road accidents similar to walking or biking. The faster the scooter, the longer it takes to stop. On smooth surfaces, the scooter may slip, lose balance, and cause falls. Exercise caution, maintain proper speed and distance, especially in unfamiliar areas.
Respect pedestrians' right of way. Avoid startling them, especially children. When approaching pedestrians from behind, ring your bell and slow down to pass on their left (where applicable). When riding across pedestrian areas, keep to the right at a low speed, or dismount.
Closely follow the safety instructions. Hiboy is not liable for financial losses, physical injuries, accidents, legal disputes, or other conflicts resulting from actions that violate user instructions.
Do not lend your scooter to individuals unfamiliar with its operation. If lending to friends, ensure they know how to operate it and wear safety gear.
Check the scooter before each use. Stop riding if you notice loose parts, low battery alerts, excessive wear, strange sounds, or malfunctions.
WARNING: Risk of Fire - No User Serviceable Parts. ?
10. Folding and Carrying
Folding: Ensure the scooter is turned off. Unlock the double lock folding mechanism, bend the handlebar stem, and hook the buckle on the handlebar. [Diagram showing folding]
Unfolding: Press the bell trigger to release the hook from the buckle, erect the handlebar, and lock the double lock folding mechanism. [Diagram showing unfolding]
Carrying: Hold the handlebar stem with one or both hands. [Diagram showing carrying]
11. Daily Care and Maintenance
Cleaning and Storage
Wipe stains on the scooter's body with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use toothpaste and a toothbrush, then wipe with a damp cloth.
Notes: Do not use alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or other corrosive solvents. Do not use high-pressure water spray. Ensure the scooter is off, the charging cable is unplugged, and the rubber flap is closed during cleaning to prevent electric shock or other issues.
When not in use, store the scooter indoors in a dry and cool place. Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, as sunlight, overheating, and overcooling can accelerate battery lifespan.
Battery Maintenance
- Use original battery packs only.
- Do not touch contacts, dismantle, or puncture the casing. Keep contacts away from metal objects to prevent short circuits.
- Use the original power adapter.
- Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations to protect the environment.
- Fully charge the battery after every use to prolong its lifespan.
Storage and Disposal
- Store the scooter in a cool, dry place between 14°F and 104°F (-10°C and 40°C). Avoid humid environments which can cause condensation and damage the battery. Devices are not intended for use at elevations greater than 2000 m. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain, and elements can damage enclosure materials; store indoors when not in use.
- Avoid recharging the scooter immediately after completely exhausting the battery. Charge it as soon as possible if the battery is low.
- Charge the scooter every other month to preserve the battery.
Disc Brake Adjustment
[Diagram showing disc brake adjustment]
- Check regularly to ensure the disc brake is well aligned.
- You need an M5 Allen key to adjust the disc brake.
- 1. Slightly loosen the screw on the brake cable lever until the lever moves.
- 2. Adjust the brake cable (loosen if too tight, tighten if too loose).
- 3. Hold the brake cable in the desired position and retighten the screw on the brake cable lever.
The setting is correct if the brake shoes are a maximum of 1 mm from the brake disc. The disc brake may squeak during break-in, which is normal.
