Installation Instructions
Follow these steps for proper installation:
Step 1: Conduit Preparation
Use the provided conduit. Trim its length if necessary.
Step 2: Sleeve Installation
Install the conduit sleeve into the wall during construction. Run the fixture wiring through the sleeve. (Note: Coupling is for VO fixture only).
Step 3: Voltage Check
Use a voltmeter to ensure the voltage at the fixture is between 11V and 15V.
Step 4: Wiring Connection
Connect the wiring using a waterproof connector.
Step 5: Faceplate Installation
Press the faceplate into the sleeve. Level and orient the fixture as desired.
For concrete ground-mount options, use the appropriate construction housing.
Circuiting Guidelines
Proper wire gauge selection is crucial to minimize voltage drop. The following table provides recommendations based on distance and wattage:
Distance | Voltage | Wire Gauge (AWG/mm²) | Max Wattage |
---|---|---|---|
0-40' (0-13 m) | 15V | 12 AWG (4.0 mm²) | 160W |
10 AWG (6.0 mm²) | 180W | ||
40'-80' (13-25 m) | 15V | 12 AWG (4.0 mm²) | 120W |
10 AWG (6.0 mm²) | 140W | ||
80'-120' (25-40 m) | 15V | 12 AWG (4.0 mm²) | 100W |
10 AWG (6.0 mm²) | 120W | ||
120'-160' (37-50 m) | 15V | 12 AWG (4.0 mm²) | 60W |
10 AWG (6.0 mm²) | 100W |
Transformer Guidelines
Single Transformer
When using a single transformer, center it relative to the total wattage load. Minimize all cable runs to reduce voltage drop.
Multiple Transformers
When using multiple transformers, spread the load evenly across all units. Install transformers as close to the fixtures as possible to avoid voltage drop.
Safety Precautions
WARNING: To reduce the risk of FIRE OR INJURY TO PERSON:
- Turn off/unplug and allow to cool before replacing lamp.
- Lamp gets HOT quickly. Contact only the switch/plug when turning on.
- Do not touch hot lens, guard, or enclosure.
- Keep lamp away from materials that may burn.
- Do not touch the lamp at any time. Use a soft cloth. Oil from skin may damage the lamp.
- Do not operate the luminaire fitting with a missing or damaged shield.
WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock
- May be installed less than 5' (1.5 m) from a pool, spa, or fountain when used with a UL 379 listed transformer.
- A luminaire shall not use tungsten halogen lamps unless the luminaire is marked for such lamps.
- Supply connection and electrical components are located above ground level, except for secondary cord that is suitable for wet locations.
Low Voltage Cable Requirements
- Be protected by routing in close proximity to the luminaire or fitting, or next to a building structure such as a house or deck.
- Not be buried except for a maximum 6" (152 mm) in order to connect to the main low voltage cable.
- Have the length cut off so that it is connected to a connector within 6" (152 mm) from a building structure, a luminaire, or fitting.
