Dimensions and Installation Information

Local Installation Regulations: This water heater must be installed in accordance with these instructions, local codes, utility codes, or utility company requirements. In the absence of local codes, use:

• The latest edition of the National Electrical Code. Available from some local libraries or purchased from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), 1 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02169, as booklet ANSI/NFPA 70.
• The latest edition of the American National Standard/National Fuel Gas Code. Available from the American Gas Association, 400 N. Capitol Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, as ANSI Standard Z223.1, or from the National Fire Protection Association, 1 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02169, as booklet NFPA 54.

Power Requirements: Verify the power supply corresponds to the water heater requirements by checking the markings on the rating plate.

Location: Install the water heater in a clean, dry area as near as practical to the point of greatest heated water demand. Long, uninsulated hot water lines can waste energy and water.

Required Clearances: Ensure sufficient clearance between any object and the top, rear, and sides of the water heater for servicing. The controls and drain at the front of the unit must have clear access for operation and service. Installations requiring minimal clearance on the sides or rear for earthquake straps are acceptable; in these cases, provide additional clearance on the opposite side for service access.
