Schneider Electric Wiser 16A Relay for Temperature Control
The Wiser 16A Relay is designed to control electric heaters or electric underfloor heating systems. It supports both On/Off commands and Fil Pilote commands, offering a versatile solution for smart home heating management. The Fil Pilote feature allows for remote control of multiple heaters via a single control wire.
About This Product
The Wiser 16A Relay is used to control electric heaters or electric underfloor heating with On/Off commands or Fil Pilote commands. The Fil Pilote is a single control wire interface that enables remote control of multiple heaters.
TIP: Pair with a room thermostat to control electric heaters or electric underfloor heating.

2. Choosing a Suitable Location to Install
Device Positioning
The Wiser 16A Relay must be installed below or to the side of any heat source. It should not be installed behind or above a wall-mounted heater.
Preparation of the Mounting Surface
Securely attach the black rear cover to the mounting surface. Breakout tabs can be removed to provide additional mounting holes and larger holes for rear cover cable entry.
3. Prepare Cable for Wiring
DANGER: HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Safe electrical installation must be carried out only by skilled professionals. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
DANGER: RISK OF FATAL INJURY FROM ELECTRIC SHOCK
The output may carry electrical current even when the load is switched off. Disconnect the device from the supply by means of the fuse in the incoming circuit before working on the device. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
NOTICE: HAZARD OF CONDUCTOR DAMAGE
For installations with loads of 16 A, a minimum of 2.5 mm² conductor should be used. When inserting conductors into connector blocks, ensure screws are tightened. Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
(1) Pierce rubber grommets with a small screwdriver and thread the cable through. Cable insulation should be approx. 6.5 mm. Ensure a tight seal between grommets and cable sheath for IP44 protection.
(2) Place cables into the front cover receptacles as shown.
(3) Secure cables with provided clamps and screws. Cable clamps can be placed in high or low receptacles and can be flipped for better security.
TIP: A QR Code label is used for secured Zigbee commissioning, an option in some Zigbee 3.0 systems.
4. Wiring Connection
- A: Wiser 16A Relay
- B: Heater / Load
- C: Supply
- D: Sensor
For in-wall wiring, remove rear cover breakout tabs and feed cables through prior to connection into terminal blocks.
TIP: If the heater has an electronic thermostat, it is highly recommended to control it using the Fil Pilote option. The Fil Pilote wire is always black and must be wired to the FP terminal.
5. Blanking Plugs
(1) Position the front cover over the wall-mounted rear cover, push together, and ensure rubber grommets are properly seated.
(2) Secure together using two screws on the front surface. Place two blanking plugs on the screw heads.

Sensor Compatibility
DANGER: RISK OF FATAL INJURY FROM ELECTRIC SHOCK
The device is not a Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) device. Sensor lines are on mains (230 VAC) lines. Only use sensors with double insulated cables. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
For electric underfloor heating, a floor sensor can be used to define high or low temperature limits. This device is compatible with the following sensor types:
- 33kΩ Schneider Electric Reference MTN616790
- 15kΩ Devi Reference 140F1091
- 10kΩ Elko Reference 5491605
The use of any other sensor is not recommended. When a sensor is wired to the device, configure the corresponding sensor value in the Wiser app.
