- DI Output: A DI output (Pre-EQ) is included for easy recording or connection to PA systems.
- Auxiliary Input: A 3.5mm stereo auxiliary input allows connection of external audio sources for practice sessions.
- Headphone Output: A 3.5mm headphone output is provided for quiet practice.
- Versatility: These features make the DBF100 and DBF200 versatile and user-friendly bass amplifiers for bassists prioritizing power, portability, and tonal flexibility.
Controls
Top Panel Controls
- 1. Input: 1MΩ input impedance jack for connecting active or passive bass guitars. Use a high-quality instrument cable for best performance.
- 2. FET Volume: Controls the level of the FET channel, offering a clean, fast response with punchy bass.
- 3. Channel Select Switch: Switches between FET, Drive, or a MIX of FET and Drive channels. Can also be controlled remotely.
- 4. Drive: Sets the pre-gain level for the Drive channel. Lower settings provide subtle overdrive and warmth, while higher settings increase gain for a more aggressive, distorted tone.
- 5. Channel Indicator: An LED next to the Drive control indicates the active channel: Green for FET, Red for MIX and Drive.
- 6. Drive Volume: Controls the post-gain level for the Drive channel, allowing fine-tuning of the overdrive tone in conjunction with the Drive control.
- 7. Pre-Shape: A switch that scoops mid-frequencies and boosts bass and treble.
- 8. Bass: Adjusts low frequencies. Boosting adds bass for sub-bass enhancement; cutting reduces low-end for feedback control or a cleaner sound.
- 9. Mid Mode: A 4-position rotary switch offering four pre-shape EQ sounds that work with the Mid Level control.
- Position 1: Narrow mid-cut, ideal for cutting through a mix with drummers.
- Position 2: Wider mid-control, enhances growl in distorted tones or adds clarity by cutting mids.
- Position 3: Narrow mid-scoop, similar to Position 2 but more refined. Good for slap bass or clarity with distorted guitars.
- Position 4: Upper-mid focus, ideal for bass 'pop' or reducing fret noise.
- 10. Mid Level: Works with the Mid Mode switch. Boosting or cutting the selected mid-band. Setting to the center bypasses the Mid Mode control.
- 11. Treble: Boosts or cuts high frequencies for clarity or a mellow tone.
- 12. Tilt: Controls the overall tonal balance. Turning clockwise boosts treble and cuts bass; counter-clockwise does the opposite. Allows fine-tuning for optimal tone in any situation.
- 13. Power Indicator: Red LED that lights up when the amplifier is connected to mains power and the Power switch is on.
- 14. Auxiliary Input: 3.5mm jack for connecting external audio sources for jam sessions.
- 15. Headphones: 3.5mm jack for monitoring or quiet practice.
- 16. Master Volume: Adjusts the overall output level while maintaining the achieved tone and character.
Rear Panel Connections
- 1. DI Output: Balanced XLR output for connecting to PA systems, recording consoles, or stage monitors. The DI signal is a buffered version of the input signal, unaffected by PRE-VOLUME/DRIVE and EQ settings.
- 2. FX Loop (Send/Return): Jacks for connecting external effects units. Connect the output of your external device to the Send jack and the input to the Return jack.
- 3. Remote: 6.35mm jack for remote control of the channel switch function. The function depends on the position of the channel select switch. A Laney FS1-Mini footswitch (sold separately) is recommended.
- Top: Drive -> FET
- Middle: Mix -> Drive
- Bottom: FET -> Drive
- 4. Serial Number: Displays important information and the amplifier's serial number. Ensure ventilation slots are not covered.
- 5. Power Inlet: Universal IEC C14 power input, compatible with 110V-240V AC power, requiring no voltage selection or adjustment. Use the supplied power cable.
- 6. Power Switch: Onboard switch provides isolation from the mains power input. Turn off when not in use.

Block Diagram
The block diagram shows the signal flow within the DBF100/DBF200 amplifier:
- Inputs: Bass guitar signal enters via the Input jack, and an external audio source via the Aux In.
- Channels: The signal is processed through the FET Channel (with FET Volume) and the Drive Channel (with Drive, Drive Volume, Pre-shape, Mix). A Channel Select switch manages which channel(s) are active.
- EQ Section: Bass, Mid (with Mid Mode and Mid Level), and Treble controls shape the tone. The Tilt control adjusts overall tonal balance.
- Effects Loop: An FX Send and Return loop allows external effects processing.
- Master Volume: Controls the final output level.
- Amplifier (AMP): The processed signal is amplified.
- Outputs: The amplified signal drives the Loudspeaker. There is also a DI Out (Pre) for direct connection and a Phones output for headphones. An Amp Mute function is also indicated.

- Unpacking: Check for any damage incurred during transit. If damage is found, repack the unit in its original box and consult your dealer. It is recommended to keep the original shipping box for potential future repairs.
- Connecting the Amplifier: It is recommended to establish a procedure for powering systems on and off. Power on all equipment (source, mixer, effects) before powering on the amplifier. Failure to do so can result in loud noises during power cycling, potentially damaging speakers. Ensure all level controls are at their minimum before powering on the amplifier. Wait for all system components to stabilize (usually a few seconds). Similarly, when powering down, always turn the amplifier's level control down first and then power off the amplifier.
- Cables: Do not use shielded cables or microphone cables for amplifier-to-speaker connections. These are not designed to handle the amplifier's load and can cause damage to the entire system. Use high-quality shielded cables for all other connections.
- Repair: Refer all servicing to your dealer. Do not attempt to repair the product yourself.
- Warnings: Pay attention to all warnings displayed on the equipment.
- Instructions: Follow all instructions displayed on the equipment.
- Water: Do not use the equipment near water.
- Cleaning: Wipe with a dry cloth.
- Ventilation: Do not block ventilation openings. Install the equipment in its intended location according to manufacturer's instructions.
