Controls
Front Panel
6.35mm mono jack socket with 1 MΩ input impedance for connecting active or passive basses. Use a good quality instrument cable for optimal performance.
Controls the level of the FET channel, offering a clean, fast response, articulate and incisive in the low frequencies.
Changes the selected channel between FET, DRIVE, or a MIX of FET and DRIVE channels. This option can also be selected remotely.
Sets the amount of pre-gain for the DRIVE channel. Low settings provide a slight overdrive for a warm sound, while higher settings push the preamp for more grit and distortion.
LED to the right of the DRIVE control. Green indicates the FET channel, while RED indicates the MIX and DRIVE channels.
Controls the post-gain level of the DRIVE channel. Use with the DRIVE control to achieve the desired overdrive tone and volume.
Active: boosts mid frequencies and pushes high and low frequencies. Disabled: standard response.
Increases low frequencies for more sub-bass. Decreasing attenuates low frequencies, useful for controlling feedback or cleaning up the sound.
A 4-position rotary selector for preset EQ sounds, working with the MID LEVEL control.
- Position 1: Tight mid-bass cut for definition, especially with drums.
- Position 2: Broader mid control for bass growl, punch, or mid clarity.
- Position 3: Refined mid setting for slap bass or clarity with distorted guitars.
- Position 4: Upper-mid setting for bass pop or reducing fret noise.
Adjusts the selected MID MODE frequency band. Boosting amplifies, decreasing attenuates. A center setting bypasses the Mid control.
Increases higher frequencies for clarity. Lowering reduces highs for a softer, richer sound.
General sound balance control. Rotating towards treble accentuates highs and attenuates lows; rotating towards bass does the opposite. Ideal for fine-tuning the overall tone.
Red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is connected to mains power and the POWER switch is ON.
3.5mm jack for connecting an external audio source, useful for playing along with tracks.
3.5mm jack for monitoring or silent practice.
Adjusts the overall output level while maintaining the tone and coloration from the input and EQ stages.
Rear Panel
Combo output compatible with speakON® (accepts 1/4" jack and NL2 connectors). Delivers 200W RMS into a 4 Ohm speaker. Minimum total load must be 4 Ohms; lower impedance can damage the amplifier. Disconnecting speaker outputs will not damage the unit. Laney recommends DBV212 or DBV410 cabinets.
Balanced XLR output for connecting to external devices like PA systems, recording setups, or stage monitors. The DI signal is a buffered version of the guitar input, including pre-volume/drive and EQ.
Sockets for connecting external effects devices. Use the send jack for the effect's input and the return jack for the effect's output.
6.35mm jack socket for remote channel switching via an optional footswitch (e.g., Laney FS1). The function depends on the channel selector position: DRIVE SU (Drive -> FET, Indicator OFF), CENTRO (Mix > Drive, Indicator GREEN), GIÙ (FET > Drive, Indicator RED).
Integrated switch to isolate mains power. Set to "off" when not in use.
Universal IEC C14 power input socket. Accepts 110-240V AC; no voltage selection is needed. Use the supplied power cable.
Contains important information and the amplifier's serial number. Ensure ventilation slots are not covered.
Connections
The amplifier can be connected to various external devices. The front panel features an instrument input, auxiliary input, and headphone output. The rear panel includes a speaker output, DI Out for direct connection to PA or recording equipment, an FX Loop for external effects, and a remote jack for footswitch control. The connection diagram illustrates routing through a mixing console, audio source, and headphones, as well as connecting outboard effects and a footswitch. Recommended cabinet connections are also shown.
Block Diagram
The signal path begins at the INPUT, splitting into the FET CHANNEL and DRIVE CHANNEL. These channels can be selected individually or mixed via the CHANNEL SELECT SWITCH. The signal then passes through EQ controls (BASS, MID MODE with MID LEVEL, TREBLE, TILT) and the PRESHAPE circuit. An FX LOOP allows for external effects processing. The signal is then routed through the MASTER VOLUME, a LIMITER, and an AMP MUTE function. Available outputs include the LOUDSPEAKER OUT, DI OUT, and PHONES.

Safety and Warnings
General Precautions: Read the user manual carefully and keep it in a safe place. Retain original packaging for potential returns or repairs. Follow a proper power-up and power-down sequence for audio systems (source first, amplifier last when powering up; amplifier first, then source when powering down) to prevent damage to speakers. Use appropriate speaker cables; shielded or microphone cables are not suitable. Do not attempt to service the unit yourself; refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Avoid using the amplifier near water, and clean only with a dry cloth. Ensure ventilation slots are not obstructed and do not install near heat sources.
Electrical Safety: Class I appliances must be connected to a mains socket with a protective earth connection. Do not defeat the purpose of polarized or grounding-type plugs. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched. Use only manufacturer-supplied attachments and accessories. If using a cart, exercise caution to prevent tipping.
Operational Safety: The mains plug or appliance coupler serves as the disconnect device and must remain readily accessible. Disconnect the appliance during thunderstorms or when unused for extended periods. Do not break the earth pin. Connect only to the specified power supply type.
Noise Exposure: Prolonged exposure to high noise levels can cause permanent hearing loss. Use hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs) if exposure levels exceed recommended limits, as specified by OSHA guidelines.
Tilt-Back Mechanism: If the amplifier has a tilt-back feature, use it with caution on a stable, flat surface to prevent tipping.
Symbols: The manual explains various safety symbols, including:
- ⚠️ CAUTION: Indicates the presence of dangerous voltage within the enclosure that may pose an electrical shock risk.
- ❗ WARNING: Alerts the user to important operating and maintenance instructions.
- Shock Hazard: "Risk of electrical shock - DO NOT OPEN." Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
- Environmental Protection: "To prevent electrical shock or fire hazard, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture."
Regulatory Compliance: The device complies with FCC Part 15 rules. It also meets CE, UK CA, RoHS, and ErP directives. A simplified EU Declaration of Conformity is available online. Proper disposal of the product at its end-of-life is recommended via authorized recycling centers to reduce environmental impact (WEEE directive).
