Model: UNO FLIP 4G

Device Layout

The Maxwest Uno Flip 4G features a compact flip design with essential buttons for operation.

Key Components:

  • 1. Left Soft Key: Press to select menu options on the Home Screen.
  • 2. Confirm/SOS Button: Press to confirm commands. Long press on Home Screen activates SOS.
  • 3. Call Button: Press to initiate a call or answer an incoming call.
  • 4. Voicemail Button: Long press on Home Screen to access voicemail.
  • 5. Lock/Unlock Button: Long press on Home Screen to lock the device.
  • 6. Right Soft Key: Press to access the Contacts option on the Home Screen.
  • 7. Power/Cancel Button: Long press to power the device on/off. Press to cancel commands.
  • 8. Navigation Button: Use up, down, right, or left to navigate the device menus.
  • 9. Music Play Button: Controls music playback (Previous/Stop/Next).
  • 10. Volume +/- Buttons: Adjust volume levels.

The device also includes a screen, earpiece, microphone, charging port, and speaker.

Status Icons

Understand the icons displayed on your device's screen:

  • ✈️ Airplane Mode: All wireless functions are disabled.
  • ?SIM No SIM Inserted: A SIM card is not detected.
  • ? Meeting Mode: All audio notifications are muted, vibration may be active.
  • ? Indoor Mode: Audio levels are set to low.
  • ? Battery Percentage: Indicates remaining battery life.
  • ?4G 4G Network: Device is connected to a 4G network.
  • ?LTE LTE Network: Device is connected to an LTE network.
  • ? SD Card Inserted: An SD card is detected.
  • ? Silent Mode: All audio notifications are muted.
  • ? Outdoor Mode: Audio levels are set to maximum.
  • ✉️ Unread Message: Indicates a new message has been received.

Changing Audio Profiles

Customize your device's audio settings by selecting from preset profiles:

  • General: Default audio levels.
  • Silent: Mutes all audio notifications.
  • Meeting: Sets all audio to vibration.
  • Indoor: Sets all audio levels low.
  • Outdoor: Sets all audio levels to maximum.

Access this menu via: Home Screen > Menu [left-soft-key] > Settings > Profiles.

Basic Operations

Turning the Device ON or OFF

Long press the [power-button] to turn the device on or off. You may need to enter your Unlock Pin.

Unlocking the Device

Press the [left-soft-key], then press the [*] key.

Making or Answering a Call

To make a call: From the Home Screen, dial the number and press the [call-button].

To answer a call: Press the [call-button]. To reject a call, press the [cancel-button].

Calling Options:

  • Speaker Mode: During a call, press the [sos-button] (Confirm Button).
  • Adjust Volume: Use the [navigation-button] (up/down).
  • End Call: Press the [cancel-button].
  • More Options: Select Menu [left-soft-key] for options like Add new call, Place call on Hold, Start recording call, Mute Call, use Contacts, view Call Logs, or open Messages.

Messages

Sending Text/Multimedia Messages

Access the Message Application via Menu [left-soft-key] > Messages.

Select 'Write message', then choose 'SMS' for text or 'MMS' for multimedia.

  • For SMS: Enter the recipient's phone number. Scroll down to type your message. Select Options [left-soft-key] and then Send.
  • For MMS: Enter the recipient's phone number. Add Subject, Text, Image, Video, or Audio. Select Options [left-soft-key] and then Send.

Viewing Messages

Access received messages via Inbox, sent messages via Outbox, drafts via Draft, and previously sent messages via Sentbox.

Display Settings

Customize your device's appearance and screen behavior:

  • Change wallpaper.
  • Adjust brightness settings.
  • Change screen timeout duration.
  • Change keypad lock time.
  • Change screensaver settings.

Access this menu via: Home Screen > Menu [left-soft-key] > Settings > Display Settings.

Contact Menu

Manage your contacts, including saving, editing, importing, and exporting.

Access contacts via: Home Screen > Contacts [right-soft-key].

Adding a New Contact

  1. Select Options [left-soft-key].
  2. Select New.
  3. Enter Profile Picture, Name, Mobile number, Home number, assign to a group, or set a ringtone.
  4. Select Save [left-soft-key].

Setting up Speed Dial

  1. Select Options [left-soft-key].
  2. Select Others.
  3. Select Speed dial.
  4. Choose the number slot to set up.
  5. Input the desired phone number.
  6. Select OK.

Importing/Exporting Contacts

Contacts must be in CVF format for import/export.

  1. Select Options [left-soft-key].
  2. Select Import/Export.
  3. Choose either Import or Export.

Browser Menu

Navigate the World Wide Web using the built-in browser application.

Access the browser via: Home Screen > Menu > Internet.

Browsing the Web

  1. Select 'Input URL'.
  2. Enter the website address you wish to visit.

Setting up Network Account

Configure GPRS settings for internet access:

  1. Select Options [left-soft-key].
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select SIM1/2 Network accounts.
  4. Choose your SIM carrier from the preset network accounts.

Using Bookmarks

Access frequently visited pages quickly using bookmarks. Preset pages like Facebook are available, and you can create your own.

  1. Select Bookmarks.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Select Bookmark.
  5. Enter the required information and save it.

Typing with Keyboard

The device uses a T9 keyboard for text input. Each key corresponds to multiple letters:

  • 1: Press multiple times for different punctuation marks.
  • 2: ABC
  • 3: DEF
  • 4: GHI
  • 5: JKL
  • 6: MNO
  • 7: PQRS
  • 8: TUV
  • 9: WXYZ
  • 0: Space
  • *: Access symbols menu.
  • #: Change between Abc, abc, ABC, 123, or writing language modes.

Example: To spell "World":

  • W: Press 9 once.
  • o: Press 6 three times.
  • r: Press 7 three times.
  • l: Press 5 three times.
  • d: Press 3 once.

To input a number in text mode: Press the # key, select '123', then input the number.

Phone Settings

Access phone settings via: Home Screen > Menu [left-soft-key] > Settings > Phone Settings.

  • Date & Time: Set time, date, time format, date format, and update time settings.
  • Language Settings: Change the device language (e.g., English, French, Spanish, Portuguese).
  • Shortcut Settings: Customize home screen shortcut keys for different applications.
  • Auto power on/off: Schedule automatic power on/off times.
  • Power Management: View the device's battery percentage.
  • Restore factory: Erase all data on the device. The default password is 0000.

SOS Settings

The SOS feature allows you to set up to five emergency numbers that will receive a custom text message and be automatically called in sequence.

Disclaimer: Users must set their own emergency numbers. An active service is required for SOS functionality.

Turning SOS On/Off

Select 'SOS turn on/off'. The checkmark (✔️) indicates it is active.

Adding Telephone Numbers

  1. Select 'Telephone number'.
  2. Choose the priority for the number (1-5).
  3. Input the emergency phone number.

Editing Message Content

  1. Select 'Message content'.
  2. Edit the existing emergency message text.
  3. Select OK.

Activating SOS

To activate SOS, long press the [sos-button].

SAR tests are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the device while operating can be well below the maximum value. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.

Before a new device is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does not exceed the exposure limit established by the FCC. Tests for each device are performed in positions and locations as required by the FCC.

For body-worn operation, this device has been tested and meets the FCC RF exposure guidelines when used with an accessory designated for this product or when used with an accessory that contains no metal and that positions the handset a minimum of 5 mm from the body. Non-compliance with the above restrictions may result in violation of RF exposure guidelines.
