Fixture Diagram
The fixture diagram illustrates the assembly of the lighting fixture. Key components include:
- [A] Socket (Quantity: 3)
- [B] Connecting Tube
- [C] Outlet Box (not supplied)
- [D] Canopy
- [E] Chain
- [F] Mounting Screw (Quantity: 2)
- [G] Mounting Strap
- [H] Strap Mounting Screw (Quantity: 2)
- [I] Lock-Up Knob (Quantity: 2)
- [J] Lock Washer (Quantity: 2)
- [K] 5.5 inch Threaded Tube
- [L] Decorative Tube
- [M] Finial
- [N] Lower Connection
- [O] Loop (attached to Canopy)
- [P] Coupling
- [Q] Candle sleeve (Quantity: 3)
- [R] Loop (attached to Connecting Tube)
- [S] Open Chain Link (Quantity: 2)
The diagram shows how the chain [E] attaches to loops [R] and [O], how the connecting tube [B] screws onto the coupling [P], and how the canopy [D] and mounting strap [G] attach to the outlet box [C]. It also depicts the arrangement of sockets [A], candle sleeves [Q], decorative tube [L], and finial [M] on the main body of the fixture.
Installation Instructions
- Thread the connecting tube [B] onto the coupling [P]. Tighten to secure.
- Attach one end of the chain [E] to loop [R] using an open chain link [S]. Attach the opposite end of the chain to loop [O] using the other open chain link [S].
NOTE: To close an open chain link, place a piece of cloth (not supplied) over the open link and use a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the link closed.
- Weave fixture wires through chain links, ensuring they are no more than 3 inches apart. Pass fixture wires through loop [O] and into the canopy [D].
- Find the appropriate threaded holes on the mounting strap [G] that align with the hole distance in the canopy. Screw mounting screws [F] into these threaded holes, starting from the outlet box side.
- Attach the mounting strap [G] to the outlet box [C] using the strap mounting screws [H]. The mounting strap can be adjusted to suit the position of the fixture.
- Grounding Instructions: (See Illustrations a or b).
- Illustration a: On fixtures where the mounting strap is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground screw and thread it into the hole.
- Illustration b: On fixtures where a cupped washer is provided, attach the ground wire from the outlet box under the cupped washer and green ground screw, and thread it into the mounting strap.
If the fixture is provided with a ground wire, connect the fixture ground wire to the outlet box ground wire with a wire connector after following the above steps. Never connect the ground wire to the black or white power supply wires.
Diagram Description for Grounding:
Illustration a depicts a wire connector joining the outlet box ground wire to the fixture ground wire. The outlet box ground wire is shown wrapped around a green ground screw on a mounting strap with dimples.
Illustration b shows the outlet box ground wire connected to the fixture ground wire. The outlet box ground wire is placed under a cupped washer and a green ground screw, which is threaded into the mounting strap.
- Make wire connections. Reference the chart below for correct connections and wire accordingly.
Connect Black or Red Supply Wire to: Connect White Supply Wire to: Black White *Parallel cord (round & smooth) *Parallel cord (square & ridged) Clear, Brown, Gold or Black without Tracer Clear, Brown, Gold or Black with Tracer Insulated wire (other than green) with copper conductor Insulated wire (other than green) with silver conductor Note: When parallel wire (SPT 1 & SPT 2) is used, the neutral wire is square shaped or ridged, and the other wire will be round in shape or smooth (See illustration). This is also referred to as the Neutral Wire.
- Raise the canopy [D] to the ceiling, carefully passing the mounting screws [F] through the mounting screw holes in the canopy.
NOTE: Make sure wires do not get pinched between the mounting strap and the canopy or the canopy and the ceiling.
- Use lock washers [J] and lock-up knobs [I] to secure the fixture to the ceiling. Tighten the lock-up knobs to secure.
- Carefully slip a candle sleeve [Q] over a socket [A] and push the sleeve completely down over the socket so that it rests against the socket base. Repeat for the remaining candle sleeves and sockets.
- Thread the 5.5 inch threaded tube [K] into the lower connection [N]. Tighten to secure.
- Slip the decorative tube [L] over the installed 5.5 inch threaded tube [K]. While holding the decorative tube [L] in place up against the fixture, thread on the finial [M] until the finial is seated against the bottom of the decorative tube. Tighten to secure.
- Insert recommended bulbs (Not supplied).
