General Care and Precautions
To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your Casio watch, please observe the following precautions:
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures.
- Handle the watch with care and avoid dropping it.
- Do not fasten the watch strap too tightly; a finger should fit between the strap and your wrist.
- Clean the watch and strap using a dry, soft cloth, or a soft cloth dampened with a mild neutral detergent solution. Never use volatile agents like gasoline, solvents, or spray cleaners.
- Store the watch in a dry place when not in use.
- Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, paint, etc., as these can damage gaskets, the case, and the watch's finish.
- For straps with silk-screened designs, be careful during cleaning to avoid damaging the patterns.
Important Information
Battery
The battery installed at the factory may discharge during shipping and storage. If the display becomes dim or erratic, replace the battery at an authorized CASIO service center or dealer.
Water Resistance
Watches are classified by water resistance levels (from I to V). Ensure you use your watch according to its classification:
- Prohibitions for all water-resistant watches: Do not press buttons underwater, set hands underwater, or unscrew the crown underwater.
- If the watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it completely.
- Avoid wearing watches with leather straps while swimming or exposing them to prolonged water contact.
- Plastic Straps: A white powdery substance may appear on plastic straps; this is harmless and can be wiped off. Sweat or moisture, or storage in high humidity, can damage or crack plastic straps. Wipe them clean with a soft cloth to prolong their life.
- Fluorescent Cases and Straps: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture can cause fluorescent colors to fade. Wipe off any moisture immediately. Friction with other surfaces can transfer fluorescent paint.
Water Resistance Classification Table
Category | Case Marking | Splashes, Rain, Washing | Swimming, Snorkeling | Scuba Diving | Deep Sea Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | None | Yes | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT / 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes:
- 1: Not water-resistant. Avoid all moisture.
- 2: II WR (Water Resistant) meets ISO 2281. Brief water contact is acceptable.
- 3: III 5 Bar (50 meters) withstands water pressure for showering and brief swimming.
- 4: IV 10 Bar (100 meters) is suitable for normal swimming and snorkeling.
- 5: V 20 Bar (200 meters) is suitable for scuba diving (excluding depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).
Watch Care
- Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover.
- The gasket protecting the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2-3 years.
- If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by a dealer or CASIO distributor.
