Fitting Instructions
- Temporarily remove the three screws from the lower edge of the bumper, trim a small section from the inner foam, to allow item A to fit up into the bumper.
- Remove the boot floor covering, rear trim and side panels.
- Locate the three dimples each side above each chassis member, place item C over the outer two dimples (see sketch) and mark the centre hole, drill six 20mm holes through the top skin only.
- Place item D down into the left hand chassis and item E down into the right hand chassis, place item C over each set of holes inside the boot.
- Carefully slide item A into the bumper and bolt to the chassis using item G, item G1, item J and item L.
- Using item H with item K bolt item B to item A.
- Using item F bolt the ball bracket and wiring plate (not supplied in this kit) to the mounting plate.
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts and ensure the towbar is rigid and secure.
- Replace boot trim and the three screws from the lower edge of the bumper.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates an exploded view of the Tow-Trust TV344 towbar assembly for the Vauxhall Astra. It shows the main crossmember (Item A) and extension bars (Item B). Clamp plates (Item C) are positioned to attach to the vehicle's chassis, with spacer tubes (Items D and E) used for alignment. The diagram also depicts the various bolts, nuts, and washers (Items F, G, G1, H, J, K, L) required for securing the towbar components to the chassis and to each other. The attachment points on the chassis are indicated by dimples.
Notes
1. Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9 - 139 Nm. (For other Torque Settings see notes overleaf.)
2. Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
