This document outlines the installation process for the Tow-Trust TM16VK towbar, specifically designed for the Mercedes GLA vehicle. It details the necessary components and step-by-step procedures for both bumper removal and towbar fitting.

Bumper Removal
- Remove the boot interior trim.
- Remove the rear light clusters and the rear bumper. Carefully release the wheel arch trim from the vehicle body. Remove two fixings in each wheel arch, one fixing on each side tip, four fixings along the lower edge, and two fixings through the rear panel inside the vehicle.
- Gently release the bumper tips from the vehicle and pull the bumper rearwards.
- Unclip any necessary wiring looms.
- Remove the rear impact beam from the rear panel. Note: The impact beam is not refitted with the towbar assembly.
Towbar Installation
- Attach the crossmember (Item A) to the rear panel using items E and J. Ensure original gaskets are between Item A and the rear panel. Applying sealant around the towbar and rear panel joints is recommended to prevent water ingress.
- Insert the side arms (Items B) through the towbar end plates and secure them to the outside face of each chassis member using items F and K.
- Fix the side arms (Items B) to the crossmember (Item A) using items F and K.
- Attach the detachable neck (Item C) and socket plate (Item D) to the crossmember (Item A) using items G with L, and H with L.
- Fully tighten all fixings, ensuring the towbar is rigid, square, and secure.
- Refit the rear bumper, light clusters, and boot interior trim.
Notes:
1. Recommended torque setting for M12 Grade 10.9 bolts is 139 Nm. Consult overleaf notes for alternative torque settings.
2. Always observe the specified nose load limits and the vehicle manufacturer's limits for trailer or caravan weight.
