EasyStart™ Breeze
Quick Installation Guide
Please visit our website for complete manuals, guides, and information on setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
1. Identify System Wires
Compressor Motor Wiring:
The compressor motor has three wires typically labeled 'C' (Common), 'S' (Start), and 'R' (Run).
Electrical Connections:
The system is powered by Line Voltage (L1/Hot and L2/Neutral) through a Thermostat-Controlled On/Off Switch.
Components:
- Compressor Run Capacitor
- Compressor Start Capacitor (if installed)
You can install EasyStart into any system when you identify the compressor "C", "S", and "R" wires in your system's electric box.
2. EasyStart Wiring
Wiring Diagram with EasyStart Installed:
- EasyStart (ES) Black is connected to compressor motor "C".
- ES Brown is connected to the cut "R" wire.
- ES White is connected to the old compressor "R" line voltage.
- ES Orange is connected to compressor motor "S".
- Compressor motor "R" is disconnected from line voltage.
- Any start-assist devices are disconnected.
The below electrical criteria are true for installation into any system. Continue to the next section for a typical installation.
3. Typical Installation
Disconnect power from your A/C unit using the A/C breaker.
Locate the three compressor motor wires (C, S, and R) coming from the compressor and follow them into the electric box. Use the wiring diagram for your unit to help.
EasyStart Orange
Follow the "S" wire to where it lands in the electric box. Connect EasyStart orange alongside it. This is typically a terminal group of a silver run capacitor, labelled "H" or "Herm".
Disconnect Any Other Start-Assist Devices
Inspect where the "S" wire landed for any other connected wires and follow them. If they go to a start capacitor, start relay, or PTCR then remove this wire at both ends.
EasyStart Black
Follow the compressor "C" wire to where it lands or passes though the electric box. Cut the "C" wire at a convenient location and strip both ends about 3/8" (10mm). Twist the strands of each wire end to itself. Combine these two stripped ends and EasyStart black using the provided three-way lever connector. Lift the empty terminal levers, slide each wire in fully, and close them.
Compressor "R" Wire
Follow the "R" wire to where it lands in the electric box. Pull the wire from its terminal and cut off the connector.
NOTE: It is easy to mistake other wires for the compressor "R" wire. Take extra precaution when identifying this wire.
EasyStart Brown
Connect the EasyStart brown wire to the Compressor "R" wire you just cut. Strip the wire and twist its strands together. Open the empty lever, slide in the stripped wire fully, and close the lever.
Strip Length Indication: 1/2" or 3/8" (13mm or 11mm)
EasyStart White
Connect the EasyStart white wire to the terminal that you removed compressor "R" from.
Install Complete - EasyStart Learning Starts
Restore power to the A/C and let the A/C cycle naturally on mains power. EasyStart will learn the characteristics of your compressor on the first few cycles. Please allow at least 5 cycles to complete before operating on a limited power source.
