7. Add Camera to the App

7.1 Preparation for Connection

  1. Insert a Micro SD card: Insert a Micro SD card into the camera to save video clips, or utilize the 7-day free cloud service. Without a Micro SD card or cloud service, no video will be saved.
  2. Check Wi-Fi Compatibility: The camera only works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and does not support 5 GHz. If your router is dual-band, ensure it is set to 2.4 GHz mode for camera operation.
  3. Ensure Same Network Connection: For successful pairing, ensure both your phone and the camera are connected to the same network.
  4. Proximity to Router: When connecting to the network, place the camera close to the router (recommended within 10-15 feet).

NOTE: Before installing the camera, connect it near the router to ensure a stable signal. Then, check the network at the installation location to avoid disconnection issues.

7.2 Adding Methods

Method 1: Bluetooth Configuration (Recommended)

Follow these steps:

  1. On the home page, tap "Add" or the "+" icon in the top right corner, then tap "Add Device".
  2. If your phone's Bluetooth is not enabled, a pop-up will appear. Allow it to activate Bluetooth.
  3. Once Bluetooth is activated, the app will automatically search for available devices. Select the device you want to connect to from the search list.
  4. Select the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network you want the camera to connect to and enter the password. With Bluetooth active, the app will automatically display available 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Note that 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks will not be shown. If you cannot find your Wi-Fi network, contact your router provider to check 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi settings.
  5. The app will automatically proceed to the Wi-Fi connection page. A sound will be emitted, and the camera's indicator light will turn solid blue when the connection is successful. Click "Next" to rename the camera and choose a family. Click "Done" to complete the configuration.
  6. If the connection fails, check the reason and resolution shown in the app. Long-press the reset button until you hear a "Boogu" sound to reset the camera and start over, or try the other methods.

  1. Tap "Add Device".
  2. Select the camera.
  3. Power on the camera.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
  5. Prepare for scanning.

The process involves completing the Wi-Fi setup, preparing the device by following on-screen instructions, and then scanning the QR code displayed on the phone with the camera.

Method 3: Device QR Code Configuration

  1. Click "+", then select "Scan Code" and scan the QR code on your device.
  2. Select the device you want to add. Check if your phone's Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz, then click "Next".
  3. Return to the "ZUMIMALL" application, select the Wi-Fi network, and enter the password, then click "Next". NOTE: All routers, including those with 5G capability, also have a 2.4G signal. Simply set up a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi in the router settings and select the 2.4G signal during configuration.
  4. During connection, ensure the router, mobile phone, and camera are as close as possible.

(Note: The wireless chime requires AAA batteries, which are widely available. The included AAA batteries are non-rechargeable.)

Preparation for Connection

Press and hold the Connection/Volume button until the indicator light flashes blue, indicating the wireless chime is ready to be paired.

9.1 Preparation for Installation

  1. Surface Selection: Choose a clean, smooth, and dry surface for mounting the bracket. Avoid irregular surfaces like wood veneers or plaster walls.
  2. Bracket Removal: The camera comes with a bracket and a screw kit. Before installation, remove the bracket from the doorbell.
  3. Mounting the Bracket:
    1. Using Screws:
      • Position the bracket on the desired wall and mark the screw holes.
      • If mounting on drywall, use the provided drywall anchors to secure the bracket.
      • Fasten the bracket in place using the provided screws.
    2. Using Adhesive Strips:
      • Apply the provided adhesive strips to the back of the bracket.
      • Note that the adhesive strips take approximately 1 hour to reach 50% of their maximum adhesion strength and 72 hours to reach full adhesion strength.

    • All set! Press the doorbell button to perform a test.

NOTES:

9.2 Mounting Position and Angle

  1. Positioning for Motion Detection:
    • The doorbell has a 120-degree field of view and a 100-degree human detection range.
    • For the best viewing angle and optimal motion detection performance, it is recommended to mount the doorbell at least 5 feet (160 cm) from the ground.
  2. Optimal Placement:

Position the doorbell so that movement crosses the camera's field of view laterally, rather than approaching or moving away directly from the doorbell.

    • Front-mounted doorbell
    • Side-mounted doorbell

12. Storage Instructions

Manual Storage

Micro SD Card

Cloud Storage Plan

NOTE: If you select the wrong cloud plan, contact us via the app's Help section for assistance.

13. Power Saving Settings

13.1 Alarm Interval

This function helps avoid repeated alarms for the same event. You can set an alarm interval of varying duration. For example, if the interval is set to 5 minutes and the camera is triggered at 08:00, you will receive an alarm message, but no further alarm notification will be received within the next 5 minutes, even if motion detection continues.

NOTE: This function is disabled by default. You can enable it when necessary.

13.2 Recording Time

You can set different recording durations. For example, if the recording duration is set to 10 seconds, after the camera is triggered, you can view a 10-second alarm video in the cloud playback history.

13.3 Alarm Schedule

You can set a weekly or daily alarm schedule as needed. For example, if the camera's operating hours are set from 0:00 to 1:00, the camera will be activated and record the alarm video only during this period.

NOTE: You can set up to 4 time periods for the alarm schedule.

13.4 Battery Management

  1. The camera is equipped with a high-capacity integrated battery that can last 2-3 months, assuming the camera is activated 15 times a day and records video for 10 minutes daily. NOTE: Battery life depends on the camera's activation frequency. The more it is activated, the faster the battery drains. It is recommended to lower the "Motion Detection" sensitivity or disable it from time to time.
  2. When the battery charge is below 20%, the app will send you reminders to recharge the camera.
  3. Please use a 5V/2A charging cable (included) or a 5V/2A charger (not included) to charge the video doorbell. A full charge takes approximately 8-12 hours. When the batteries are charging, the red light next to the charging port will be on; when the batteries are fully charged, the blue light next to the charging port will be on.

NOTES:

14. Multi-Camera Management

View up to 4 cameras simultaneously in a quad screen layout.

15. Multi-User Sharing

NOTES:

Sharing Steps:

  1. User B downloads the ZUMIMALL app on their phone and creates a new account. (The country selected during registration must be the same as yours).
  2. User A clicks "Add" in the app on their phone.
  3. User A scans User B's QR code or enters User B's account ID.
  4. User B accepts the sharing and refreshes the device page.

The process involves navigating to the "Share" option, choosing a sharing method (QR code or account ID), and then the recipient accepting the share request.

17. FAQ

17.1. Connection Problems

Q1: The camera does not turn on.

A1: Ensure the power switch is on. Charge the battery using a DC 5V/2A adapter. The charging indicator should light up red during charging and turn blue when charging is complete.

Q2: Cannot connect to Wi-Fi during initial setup.

A2: Verify the correct Wi-Fi password and ensure you are using a 2.4 GHz network. Move the camera closer to the router for a stronger signal. Set Wi-Fi encryption to WPA2-PSK/WPA-PSK. Ensure the SSID is up to 31 characters and the password is within 64 characters. Check that DHCP is enabled on the router. Avoid special characters in the network name and password. Use the administrator password if there are separate administrator and guest networks. Ensure too many devices are not connected to avoid IP address conflicts. Keep the camera at least 1 meter away from other wireless devices and metallic objects to prevent interference. Reset the camera if necessary by pressing the "Reset" button until you hear a "Boogu" sound, then reconnect.

Q3: How do I distinguish between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

A3: 1. Check your router's documentation: consult the router manual or contact support. 2. Use a dual-band router: Access router settings via computer or phone. Access and rename your Wi-Fi networks to clearly indicate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (e.g., "Network_2.4 GHz" and "Network_5 GHz"). Avoid merging bands for clear identification. Connect to the 2.4 GHz network on your phone, then connect your camera.

Q4: Why can't the camera connect to Wi-Fi after correctly selecting 2.4 GHz and entering the password?

A4: Ensure your camera and phone are on the same network. Verify that DHCP is enabled on your router. Confirm your network is 2.4 GHz and the Wi-Fi authentication method is set to WPA2-PSK or similar. Avoid special characters in the network name and password. Use the administrator password for networks with both administrator and guest options. Check Wi-Fi signal strength and remove the Micro SD card if connection issues persist. Ensure there are no excessive devices causing IP conflicts. Keep the camera away from wireless devices and metallic objects. Reset the camera if you change Wi-Fi networks.

17.2. Functionality Problems

Q5: Will the camera show red lights when night vision is activated?

A5: The camera's infrared lamps emit faint red lights during night vision, but the image quality remains sharp in low-light conditions.

Q6: What is the maximum recording duration?

A6: The recording time can be set in the app, with options ranging from 10 to 30 seconds.

Q7: Why am I not receiving push notifications on my phone?

A7: Ensure "Receive alert notifications" is enabled in the app. Check your phone's settings to allow notifications from the app. Ensure the app is running in the background (for Android users).

17.3. Device Configuration Problems

Q8: Why can't I hear any sound from my camera?

A8: Ensure the sound icon is activated for live audio. Enable the microphone and speaker function in the audio settings and set an appropriate volume.

Q9: Cannot scan the QR code on the phone (battery is fully charged).

A9: Remove the protective film from the camera lens. Clean the lens with a dry paper towel. Adjust the distance between the camera and the phone for better focus. Scan the QR code in good lighting conditions. If problems persist, contact support.

Q10: At what distance should the camera be placed from the router?

A10: The camera can connect up to 20 meters away in open areas. However, the effective range may vary based on Wi-Fi strength and environmental factors. Place the camera closer to the router if the signal is weak.

Q11: To view the camera's content, does my phone need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network?

A11: No, your phone does not need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. As long as the camera is connected to your home Wi-Fi, you can use WLAN or cellular data to view the camera.
