Important Instructions
Please read and save these important instructions before operating your fan.
Safety Instructions
- Read all instructions before using this appliance.
- Use the fan only for purposes described in the manual.
- Do not immerse the unit, plug, or cord in water or spray with liquids. Plug directly into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use, when moving the fan, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
- Avoid contact with moving parts.
- Do not operate in the presence of explosive and/or flammable fumes.
- Never place the cord under rugs or near open flames or heating appliances.
- Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug, or after the fan malfunctions or has been dropped/damaged.
- Do not run the cord under carpeting or cover it with rugs. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas.
- Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Do not let the cord hang over edges or come in contact with hot surfaces.
- Do not use outdoors.
- To disconnect, grip the plug and pull from the wall outlet; never yank the cord.
- Always use on a dry, level surface.
- Do not operate the fan until fully assembled with all parts properly in place.
- This product is intended for household use ONLY.
- Do not use this fan with any solid-state speed control device.
- The product has overload protection (fuse). If the fuse blows, unplug the product, replace the fuse with a 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse, and check the product. If the replacement fuse blows, discard the product or return it for repair.
- Do not use an extension cord with this fan.
- For general ventilating use only. Do not use to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.
- Ensure the fan is securely installed in your window at all times. Do not lean or push on the fan while it is in the window.
Polarized Plug: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify this plug.
Installation Instructions
The window fan comes fully assembled and ready for installation. It is designed for double-hung windows with minimum openings of 25.5 inches (65cm) wide and 8 inches (20cm) high.
Horizontal Window Fan Installation
Note: This fan is designed and recommended for use with a screen in the window.
- Align the fan horizontally in the window with controls facing you and the power cord at the bottom.
- Set the fan into your window opening. The window screen usually does not need to be removed.
- If the fan does not fit snugly, open the Locking Tab (D) and pull out the Built-In Extender Panel (F) until the fan is secure. Re-lock the tab.
- If the fan still does not fit snugly, attach the Slider Safe® Extender Panel (B) (packed separately). Slide the Rubber Strip (A) from the left side of the fan, slide the Slider Safe® Extender Panel along the left side of the fan until flush with the top and bottom, and then replace the Rubber Strip on the added panel. The fan can extend to a width of 6.7-8.7 inches (17-22cm).
- Carefully close the window so the bottom edge rests on the top flat area of the fan.
Vertical Window Fan Installation
- For vertical orientation, install the unit using rigid extender panels at the base of the window.
- Set the fan vertically in your window opening with the left side at the bottom and the Built-In Extender Panel on top.
- Set the fan into your window opening.
- If the fan does not fit snugly, attach the Slider Safe® Extender Panel and adjust the built-in extender until the fan fits securely (refer to horizontal installation steps).
Warning: Be sure the fan is securely installed in your window at all times. Do not lean or push on the fan while it is in the window.
Features and Operations
Operating Instructions
- Plug the fan into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- To start, press the Power Button ( ) once for Low (1), twice for Medium (2), or three times for High (3).
- To stop, press and hold the Power Button ( ) for two seconds, or cycle through speeds until the red LED indicates OFF.
Electronic Reversibility Instructions
This fan can bring fresh air in or exhaust stale air.
- When powered on, Intake (In) is selected by default.
- Press the circulation button ( ) once for both Intake (In) and Exhaust (Out) functionality.
- Press the circulation button ( ) twice for Exhaust (Out) functionality.
Electronic Thermostat Instructions
The electronic thermostat automatically turns the fan on and off based on your preset comfort level (60°F - 80°F).
- After powering on, press the thermostat button ( ) until the desired temperature is reached. The selected temperature indicator light, fan speed (1, 2, or 3), and Intake/Exhaust option will illuminate.
- The fan will stop when the room temperature drops below the set temperature and turn on automatically when it rises above the set point.
Note: The electronic thermostat has memory and retains the last setting after the unit is turned off. If the unit is unplugged, the thermostat will reset.
Timer Instructions
Set the timer to have the fan shut off automatically after a set period.
- When the fan is on, press the Timer button ( ) and cycle through the desired hours (1, 2, 4, or 8).
- To turn off the Timer function, cycle through the hours until the green LEDs are no longer displayed.
Remote Control Handset
Note: Remove the protective sticker from the remote control battery before operation.
- The unit includes one CR2025/3V lithium battery.
- Battery Replacement: Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote, slide out the cover, remove the old battery, insert the new battery, and slide the cover back in.
Notes:
- This product contains a button battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe injury in 2 hours. Seek immediate medical attention.
- Remove the battery when the equipment is not used for an extended period.
- Dispose of used batteries promptly and according to local recycling practices.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Follow these instructions for proper care of your window fan.
Fan Cleaning
- Always unplug the fan before cleaning or disassembling.
- Do not allow water to drip on or enter the fan motor housing.
- Use a soft cloth moistened with mild soap solution.
- Do not use gasoline, thinner, or benzene as a cleaner.
- The fan grills are not designed for user disassembly. Use a small paint brush and a vacuum to clean the fan blades.
Fan Storage
- Keep the fan in a safe, dry location.
- Use the original box or an appropriately sized box for storage.
- Protect the fan from dust or moisture.
Replaceable Fuse
If your 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse blows, visit www.holmesproducts.com for information on ordering a new fuse. Follow these instructions to replace the fuse on the plug:
- Unplug the fan. Grasp the plug and remove from the outlet; do not pull on the cord.
- Open the fuse cover on the top of the plug by sliding it down towards the prongs. Ensure the cover is fully open before removing the fuse.
- Carefully remove the fuse using a small screwdriver to pry it out by its metal ends.
- Place the plug on a flat surface, insert a new 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse into the compartment, and use a small screwdriver to secure its metal ends.
- Slide the fuse cover closed completely. If difficult, ensure the fuse is fully secured.
- Caution: Risk of fire. Replace fuse only with a 5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse. Do not replace the attachment plug as it contains a safety device (fuse). Discard the product if the attachment plug is damaged.

Warranty Information
5-Year Limited Warranty
Sunbeam Products, Inc. doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions (or Sunbeam Corporation (Canada) Limited doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions in Canada) warrants this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for five years from the date of purchase.
JCS will, at its option, repair or replace the product or any defective component. Replacements will be with new or remanufactured products or components of equal or greater value. This warranty is void if you attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions.
This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser and is not transferable. Proof of purchase (original sales receipt) is required.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from negligent use, misuse, use on improper voltage, use contrary to operating instructions, disassembly, repair or alteration by unauthorized personnel, acts of God, fire, flood, hurricanes, or tornadoes.
Limits on Liability
JCS shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages caused by breach of warranty. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited to the duration of this warranty. JCS disclaims all other warranties.
Some states or jurisdictions do not allow limitations on incidental or consequential damages or how long an implied warranty lasts, so these limitations may not apply to you.
