Assembly Instructions for Designer Radiators
Please read the instructions carefully, before starting assembly.
Important Safety and Preparation Information
- The radiator must be installed by a qualified plumber or another competent specialist.
- Note that the dimensions and panel-/pipe layout of the radiator may differ from the respective illustrations.
- Do not dispose of the packaging until you have secured small parts such as wall brackets and mounting accessories.
- Wear suitable protective clothing such as gloves and reinforced work shoes for assembly.
Required Tools (not included in the delivery!)
? [Phillips Screwdriver], ? [Flat Screwdriver], ? [Tape Measure], ? [Wrench], ? [Drill Bit], ? [Drilling Machine]
1. Determination and Scope of Use of the Products
The radiators are designed to be used in a closed central heating system.
2. Maximum Operating Pressure
Please note the maximum operating pressure specified in the assembly dimension table. Exceeding this level can damage the radiator and void any warranty.
3. Scope of Delivery of a Standard Packaging
- 1 pc. radiator
- 1 pc. Air vent (A)
- 1 pc. Blanking plug (B)
- 4 pcs. Masonry wall plug (C)
- 4 pcs. Screws (D)
- 4 pcs. Washers (E)
- 4 pcs. Wall bracket
4. General Assembly Instructions
- Check the contents of the packaging for completeness.
- Ensure you have the appropriate connection fitting.
- Before drilling, confirm there are no hidden water, electric, or gas lines behind the wall.
- The distance between the floor and the bottom of the radiator should be at least 150 mm for efficient heating and ventilation.
- Prepare necessary tools and ensure a clean, dry environment for assembly.
- Use the correct type of wall fixings. The supplied wall plugs are only suitable for solid masonry.
- Specified dimensions are for main mounting holes; some brackets require a second fixing hole.
Typical Connection Options
Diagrams illustrate typical connection options for vertical and horizontal tube radiators, and for vertical and horizontal panel and profile radiators. These show various configurations for standard connections, offset or standard center connections, and side connections, using 'V' for valve and 'R' for return.
Assembly Diagrams
Diagrams illustrate different mounting methods:
- Diagram 1: For radiators where brackets are positioned between the cross tubes. Shows vertical and horizontal views with dimensions X, Y, B, H, and NA (not applicable/specified).
- Diagram 2: For radiators where brackets are positioned on the manifold. Shows vertical and horizontal views with dimensions X, Y, B, H, and NA.
- Diagram 3: For radiators mounted with a bracket on the fixed back. Shows vertical and horizontal orientations with dimensions X, Y, B, H, and NA.
- Diagram 4: For radiators mounted on fixed pins with mounting sleeves. Shows vertical and horizontal orientations with dimensions X, Y, B, H, and NA.
5. Assembly Instructions
- Drill 4 holes using supplied masonry wall plugs, following dimensions from the assembly table (approx. 60 mm depth, 8 mm diameter).
- Insert wall plugs (C) into drilled holes (only in solid walls).
- Attach screw (D) and washer (E) to the bracket for wall fixing. Do not overtighten.
- Radiators with a baffle will have a sticker indicating correct orientation. The baffle must be at the bottom of horizontal tubes. If both tubes are clear, the baffle is not required, and orientation is universal.
- Hang the radiator on the bracket.
- Mount the supplied air valve (A) and blanking plug (B) in the upper threaded openings.
- Connect flow and return using radiator valves (not included). Seal threads watertight using PTFE tape or similar. Leaks from incorrect sealing are not covered by warranty.
- First Fill and Venting Procedure:
- Open the air vent.
- Slightly open the inlet valve (approx. 10%), keeping the outlet valve closed.
- Allow the system to fill the radiator slowly, preferably without the heating pump.
- When the radiator is filled, close the air vent.
- Open both inlet and outlet valves fully and run the heating system for about 2 hours.
- Close both inlet and outlet valves.
- Open the air vent to release any trapped air.
- If problems persist, an automatic air vent may be necessary.
Care and Use
- After installation, thoroughly rinse the system to remove metal, flux, and debris. Ensure the system is completely vented.
- Add a suitable inhibitor to the central heating system when filling to prevent internal rust and limescale.
- Clean the radiator with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid scouring pads, harsh agents, or chemical cleaning agents.
Troubleshooting
General Issues
If radiator pipes are not warm, check and vent again. If tubes remain cold, the radiator may have been filled too quickly. Try running it to force air out. If unsuccessful, drain and refill slowly.
Patchy heat or slow heating might indicate the radiator is fitted upside down. To check: lock off valves, drain water from the air valve until the top tube is empty, remove the air valve and blanking nut. The tube should be clear. If a baffle is visible, it's upside down. If fitted correctly, the heating system may need rebalancing.
Troubleshooting for Electric Radiators
Initial use may show small water discharge from the pressure valve. Panels should heat up shortly after. If not, top up the radiator by placing it on its side, undoing the top side nut, filling with water, and replacing the nut.
