Monitor Audio Bronze Series 7G Product Manual
Welcome to the Bronze Series 7G. This manual provides information on setting up and maintaining your speakers for a lifetime of enjoyment.
Getting Started
Registration: Register your Monitor Audio speakers at monitoraudio.com/registration for the best product and customer support.
Unpacking: Ensure you have adequate clean floor space before unpacking. Follow the instructions carefully to avoid damage to the speaker units. For the Bronze 300 7G, ensure two people are available for lifting as indicated on the carton.
Spikes and Feet:
- Bronze 50 7G & Bronze Centre 7G: Come with self-adhesive rubber feet for placement on shelves or stands to isolate the speaker and reduce movement.
- Bronze 300 7G: Supplied with feet and spikes assembled for hard floors. For carpeted floors, screw the spikes (A) into the foot and support assembly. Ensure no hidden cables are under the carpet.
Levelling the Speaker (Bronze 300 7G): Use a spirit level to check for levelness. Adjust the feet by unscrewing the lowest one until the cabinet is level. Use the lock nuts to secure the feet.
Installing Bronze On-Wall 7G
Speaker Mounting: Use the included drilling template for vertical or horizontal wall mounting. Ensure you use appropriate wall fixings with a minimum weight capacity of 7kg (15 lb 7 oz).
- Measure and fix the template to the wall at a 0° angle using adhesive tape. Drill through the hole marks.
- Remove the template, insert wall plugs, and screw in the screws, leaving a 7mm (1/4 inch) gap between the wall and the screw head.
- Place the speaker onto the screw heads and slide down to secure.
Using Wall Spacers: Spacers are included to allow for speaker cable routing behind the product. Push them into the corners of the product as shown.
Configuring Your System
2-Channel System: For optimal stereo imaging, speakers should form an equilateral triangle with the listening position. Ideal placement is 1.8-3 meters apart, at least 91cm from side walls. Rear wall distance varies by model (see specifications). Experiment with placement for best bass response and stereo image.
AV Positioning: Follow the diagram for ideal angles and positions for surround sound systems. Ensure speakers are placed away from walls according to the 2-channel setup requirements, though AV receiver crossover adjustments may allow closer placement. Experimentation is key.
- 5.1 System: Place surround speakers at position (A).
- 7.1 System: Place side speakers at (B) and rear speakers at (C) for a 360° soundstage.
Bass Management: If bass is excessive, move speakers further from walls. For systems with subwoofers, adjust crossover frequencies and subwoofer placement. If bass is insufficient, check receiver settings (speaker size to 'small') and crossover frequencies.
Centre Channel: Position the Bronze Centre 7G to point towards the listening position at ear height.
Dolby Atmos®: For Dolby Atmos® ceiling speaker placement, align with front left and right speakers. The Bronze AMS 7G Dolby Atmos® Enabled Speakers can be placed on front/rear speakers or wall-mounted as height or surround speakers.
Installing Bronze On-Wall 7G or Bronze AMS 7G on a Wall: Ensure secure wall fixing. If unsure, consult a professional. Check for pipes and cables behind the mounting location. Use appropriate fixings for your wall type. Use the included template for mounting. The On-Wall 7G can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Use wall spacers if cables pass behind the unit.
Wiring Your Speakers
Single Wiring: Connect a single set of cables to the rear terminals. The internal crossover directs frequencies to the appropriate drivers.
Bi-wiring: Connect separate pairs of speaker cables to the speaker terminals from a single pair of amplifier connections. Remove terminal links. Lower terminals connect to the bass driver, upper terminals to the mid-range/tweeter.
Bi-amplification: Similar to bi-wiring, but uses a second amplifier. Connect one set of cables to the upper terminals from one amplifier and another set to the lower terminals from a second amplifier. Remove terminal links.
Using Your Speakers
Running-in Your Speakers: Play music at low to medium levels for 50-70 hours. Performance may continue to improve over time. For continuous running, speakers can be placed face-to-face, connected in-phase and out-of-phase respectively.
Port Plugs (Bronze 50 7G, Bronze 300 7G, Bronze On Wall 7G): Use port plugs in small rooms (approx. 9 sq m / 80 sq ft) or rooms with accentuated bass response. Experiment with placement before using plugs. Plugs reduce bass boom and improve clarity, especially when speakers are close to walls or in corners. Only one plug per speaker for 2-port models like the Bronze 300 7G.
Care and Maintenance
Cabinet Maintenance: Clean cabinets with a soft, lint-free cloth. For driver units, use a slightly damp cloth if necessary. Avoid harsh cleaning agents or solvents.
Retaining Bolt Adjustment: The Bronze Series 7G uses bolt-through driver fixings. If a bolt becomes loose, tighten it with the supplied allen key. Do not overtighten; a quarter turn after tension is sufficient (factory torque is 1.5 Nm).
