Charge the device using a compatible charger. The charger plug type may vary. Charging time may vary depending on the device's capacity.

Battery and charger safety information

When the device has finished charging, unplug the charger from the device and the mains socket. Note that continuous charging should not exceed 12 hours. If a fully charged battery is not used, the charge will deplete over time.

Extreme temperatures reduce battery power and operating time. For optimal device performance, always keep the battery at a temperature of 15–25°C. A device with a hot or cold battery may not function temporarily. Note that in cold temperatures, the battery charge may deplete rapidly, and the voltage may drop so much that the device shuts down within minutes. Keep your device warm when outdoors in cold temperatures.

Obey local regulations. Recycle parts if possible. Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure or leave it in a very hot place, and do not dispose of it by burning, as it may explode or leak flammable liquid or gas.

Do not disassemble, cut, crush, bend, puncture, or damage the battery in any way. If the battery leaks, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with skin or eyes. If contact occurs, rinse the affected area immediately with water or seek medical attention. Do not attempt to modify the battery, insert foreign objects into the battery, or immerse the battery in water or any other liquid, or expose the battery to water or other liquids. A damaged battery may explode.

Use the battery and charger only for their intended purpose. Incorrect use or the use of unapproved or incompatible batteries or chargers may cause fire and explosion risks or other hazardous situations, and may render the device non-compliant with approvals or void its warranty. If you suspect the battery or charger is damaged, take it to a service centre or phone vendor for inspection before continuing to use it. Never use a damaged battery or charger. Use the charger indoors only. Do not charge the device battery during a thunderstorm.

When unplugging the charger or accessory cable, grasp and pull the plug, not the cord.

Additionally, the following applies if your device has a removable or user-replaceable battery:

  • Switch off the device and unplug the charger before removing covers or the battery.
  • The battery may short-circuit if a metal object touches the battery's metal contacts. This may damage the battery or the object.

Small children

The device and its accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of reach of small children.

Nickel

The surface of this device does not contain nickel.

Medical devices

Radio transmitting devices, including mobile phones, may interfere with inadequately shielded medical devices. Consult your doctor or the medical device manufacturer to ensure that the device is adequately shielded against external radio frequency energy.

Implantable medical devices

Manufacturers of implantable medical devices (such as pacemakers, insulin pumps, and neurostimulators) recommend that a wireless device be kept at least 15.3 cm (6 inches) away from the medical device to avoid potential interference with the medical device. Individuals with such devices should:

  • Always keep the wireless device more than 15.3 cm (6 inches) away from the medical device.
  • Do not carry the wireless device in a breast pocket.
  • Hold the device to the opposite ear from the medical device.
  • Switch off the wireless device if there is any reason to suspect that it is interfering with the medical device.
  • Follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the implantable medical device.

If you have questions about using a wireless device with an implantable medical device, contact a healthcare professional.

Hearing

Warning: Using headphones may affect your ability to hear external sounds. Do not use headphones when it may compromise your safety.

Some wireless devices may interfere with some hearing aids.

Protecting the device from harmful content

Your device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Follow these precautions:

  • Be cautious when opening messages. They may contain malicious programs or be otherwise harmful to your device or computer.
  • Be cautious when accepting connection requests or browsing the internet. Do not accept Bluetooth® connections from sources you do not trust.
  • Install antivirus and other security software on any connected computer.
  • If you use pre-installed bookmarks and links to third-party websites, follow security precautions. HMD Global does not endorse or take responsibility for these sites.

Vehicles

Radio signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic systems in vehicles. For more information, contact the vehicle or its equipment manufacturer. Only an authorised service centre may install the device in a vehicle. Improper installation can be dangerous and may void the warranty. Regularly check that all wireless devices in your vehicle are properly installed and functioning correctly. Do not store or transport flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the device, its parts, or accessories. Do not place the device or accessories in an area where an airbag is deployed.

Explosive areas

Switch off the device when in an area with an explosive atmosphere, for example, near petrol pumps. Sparks can cause an explosion or fire, which could result in injury or death. Follow restrictions in areas where fuels are handled, in chemical processing plants, and in blasting areas. Explosive areas are not always clearly marked. They are typically areas where you are advised to turn off your vehicle engine, in the holds of ships, in chemical transfer or storage facilities, and in areas where the air contains flammable gases or particles. Check with the manufacturers of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane) to see if this device can be used near them.

Approvals information

This wireless device complies with recommendations concerning exposure to radio waves. This wireless device is a radio transmitter and receiver. The product is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves (radio frequency electromagnetic fields) set forth in the international guidelines of the independent scientific organisation ICNIRP. These guidelines are designed to ensure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure recommendations are based on the specific absorption rate (SAR), which measures the power of radio frequency radiation (RF) absorbed by the head or body during transmission. The SAR limit for wireless devices according to ICNIRP recommendations is 2.0 W/kg, averaged over 10 grams of tissue. SAR tests are conducted using standard operating positions and the highest transmitted power level in all frequency bands of the device.

This device complies with radio frequency exposure recommendations when the device is held against the head or at a distance of at least 1.5 cm from the body. When carried against the body, it should be used in a holster, belt clip, or other body-worn accessory that contains no metal and is at least 1.5 cm from the body.

Transmitting data or messages requires a quality connection to the network. Data is only transferred when such a connection is available. Follow the distance instructions until the transmission is complete.

During normal use, SAR values are generally much lower than the values stated above. This is because the system's operating efficiency is enhanced, and network interference is prevented by automatically reducing the mobile device's transmission power when a call does not require full power. When the transmission power is lower, the SAR value is also lower.

Different versions of device models may have different values. Parts and structures may be modified over time, and some modifications may affect SAR values.

For more information, visit www.sar-tick.com. Note that wireless devices may transmit at other times than during a call.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that, based on current scientific knowledge, there is no need to take special precautions when using wireless devices. If you wish to limit exposure, WHO recommends avoiding the use of the device or using a hands-free set and keeping the device away from your head and body. For more information, explanations, and discussions on RF exposure, visit the WHO website at www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.

See www.hmd.com/sar for the device's maximum SAR value.
