This guide provides essential information for using your Vgate iCar Pro BLE 4.0 with both iOS and Android devices.
Understanding OBDII Compliance
How do I know whether my vehicle is OBDII compliant?
- 1996 or newer model year vehicles sold in the United States.
- 2001 or newer model year gasoline vehicles sold in the European Union.
- 2004 or newer model year diesel vehicles sold in the European Union.

Pairing iCar Pro BLE 4.0 with Your Device
Pairing with an iOS Device
Step 1: Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone.
Important Note for iOS: You may not see the device name "Vgate" in your iPhone's Bluetooth settings. This is normal. The device name is configured within the OBD app settings. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iOS device and proceed to the app settings.

Step 2: Configure Connectivity Setting on the OBD Auto Doctor App
- Run the OBD Auto Doctor app.
- Tap the 'Extras' button on the Status page.
- Tap 'Connectivity' in the settings menu.
- Select 'Bluetooth' as the adapter type.
- Select 'Vgate' as the device.
- Return to the Status page and click 'Start connect'.
- The adapter will initialize and connect to the vehicle. The Bluetooth indicator LED (BLUE) and OBD data indicator (GREEN) will blink during connection. This may take up to 30 seconds.
- Connected: All LED indicators will be lit when data is syncing from the vehicle.
Pairing with an Android Device
Step 1: Enable Bluetooth on your Android Phone or Pad.
- Enable Bluetooth and ensure visibility.
- Select the device name "Android-Vlink" to pair. Enter the password "1234".
- Get Paired.
Step 2: Configure Connectivity Setting on the OBD Auto Doctor App
- Run the OBD Auto Doctor app.
- Tap the 'Extras' button on the Status page.
- Tap 'Connectivity' in the settings menu.
- Select 'Bluetooth' as the adapter type.
- Search for Bluetooth devices.
- Select "Android-Vlink".
- Return to the Status page and click to start connect.
- The adapter will initialize and connect to the vehicle. The Bluetooth indicator LED (BLUE) and OBD data indicator (GREEN) will blink during connection. This may take up to 30 seconds.

Note: Different OBDII apps have different Bluetooth setting steps. Please follow the specific instructions within your chosen app.
Supported Parameters and Sensors
The iCar Pro BLE 4.0 supports standard OBDII parameters (PIDs) as defined in SAE J1979 AUG2014. The actual list of available parameters is vehicle-specific and depends on the sensors equipped in your vehicle.

Understanding OBD Codes
Example: P0123
- P: Powertrain (Engine & Transmission/Gearbox)
- 0: Generic OBD Code
- 1, 2, 3: Fault description: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) / Switch A Circuit High Input. This code sets when the PCM detects a voltage higher than the normal upper limit.

LED Indicator Status
- RED: Power indicator. Light will be on.
- GREEN: OBD indicator. Blinks once.
- BLUE: Bluetooth indicator. Off.
Super Power Saving on iCar Pro Series
The iCar Pro allows users to leave it in the OBD Socket without unplugging. It features super low power consumption in sleep mode, down to approximately 2.7mA. The device automatically wakes up when the vehicle ignition is turned to the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO) position. The wake-up speed is fast, in the millisecond range, allowing for quicker diagnostic operations.
Troubleshooting
No LED lighting?
- Check for blown fuses on the vehicle.
- Ensure the adapter is properly installed in the DLC port. Remove and re-insert if necessary.
