Compatible Devices & Range
Compatible Devices
The Casambi application is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
Compatible devices include:
- iPhone 4S or later
- iPad 3 or later
- iPod Touch 5th generation or later
- Android 4.4 KitKat or later devices produced after 2013 with full Bluetooth 4.0 support.
Range
Casambi uses mesh network technology, where each CBU-ASD unit also acts as a repeater, extending the network range. Longer ranges can be achieved by using multiple Casambi units.
Typical ranges are up to 30m indoors and 50m outdoors. Range is highly dependent on the surrounding environment and obstacles, such as walls and building materials.
Luminaire Settings and DMX Protocol
This document contains extensive compatibility lists detailing the Casambi profile settings, DMX address, and DMX operating mode for a wide range of luminaires from various manufacturers and models. These tables provide specific configurations required for seamless integration.
For DMX lights with color channels (e.g., ultraviolet or amber) or other function channels (e.g., strobe) that are outside the operating area (RGBW) of Casambi, these channels are automatically switched off in the DMX protocol.
The DMX mode describes the data format of the light, which may need to be set in the DMX light itself. The DMX address is the start address of the lamp, which must also be set in the DMX lamp.
View of Casambi Profiles: RGB vs RGBW
The document illustrates two primary Casambi profiles: LIGA.AIR.DMX.RGB and LIGA.AIR.DMX.RGBW, showcasing their respective control interfaces.
LIGA.AIR.DMX.RGB Profile Controls:
- Dimmer: Controls overall brightness (0% to 100%).
- Colour: Allows selection of a specific color.
- Colour saturation: Adjusts the intensity of the selected color (0% to 100%).
- Color Pattern: Offers predefined color patterns (OFF, RGB, RG, GB, BR).
- Color Changer Speed: Adjusts the speed of color changes (Fast to Slow, e.g., 60.8%).
- Changer Dimmer: Controls the brightness of the color changer (Dark to Bright, 0% to 100%).
LIGA.AIR.DMX.RGBW Profile Controls:
- Dimmer: Controls overall brightness (e.g., 99.6%).
- White/Colour: Blends between white and color (0% to 100%).
- Colour: Allows selection of a specific color.
- Colour saturation: Adjusts the intensity of the selected color (e.g., 96.4%).
- Color Pattern: Offers predefined color patterns (OFF, 1-RGB, 2-RG, 3-GB, 4-BR, 5-RW, 6-GW, 7-BW, 8-RGW, 9-GBW, 10-BWR).
- Color Changer Speed: Adjusts the speed of color changes (Fast to Slow, e.g., 50.2%).
- Changer Dimmer: Controls the brightness of the color changer (Dark to Bright, 0% to 100%).
