K-Rain K Dial KR5001 Digital Tap Timer

Introduction

The K Dial Tap Timer is designed for residential applications using normal household water pressures. It allows users to program desired watering requirements before installation. Once programmed, the K Dial will repeat the watering schedule each week.

This instruction manual provides essential information for the proper use and care of the product. It is recommended to read all instructions before programming and using the K Dial Tap Timer. Keep this user guide for future reference.

Main Components

The K Dial Tap Timer consists of the following main components:

• 1. 25mm BSP tap nut inlet: The threaded connector that attaches to the water tap.
• 2. Display: The digital screen showing current time, day, and programming status.
• 3. Main dial: A rotary dial used to navigate through different functions such as CLOCK, START TIME, DAYS, RUN TIME, ON, and OFF.
• 4. START button: Used to confirm selections or initiate manual watering.
• 5. Plus (+) button: Used to increase values or cycle through options.
• 6. Minus (-) button: Used to decrease values or cycle through options.
• 7. Outlet, 20mm BSP: The connector for attaching a garden hose.
• 8. 20/25mm BSP reducing bush: An adapter provided for compatibility with different hose sizes.
• 9. 12mm snap-on hose connectors: Connectors for attaching standard garden hoses.
• 10. Battery compartment: Located at the top of the unit, requires 2x AAA alkaline batteries (not included).

Additional Functions

• The display automatically returns to the clock view after 2 minutes of inactivity (keypad or schedule).
• ⚠️ Removing the AAA batteries will reset all clock and schedule settings.

Setup

Battery Installation

1. Install 2x 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries into the K Dial Tap Timer, as indicated in the battery compartment.
2. The status of the battery power is shown by the [battery icon].
3. ⚠️ Do not let the battery level drop below 2 bars.
4. It is recommended to renew the batteries each spring, or at least once per year.

After installing the batteries, the display should activate. If the main dial is set to [OFF], the display will show the current time.

Clock

1. To set the system time, turn the main dial to [CLOCK].
2. The minutes will flash on the display. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the minutes to the current time.
3. Press [START] to save minutes. The hours will now flash.
4. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the hours to the current time. Cycle through 12-hour periods to change AM/PM.
5. Press [START] to save hours. The day of the week will flash, indicating days can be adjusted.
6. Press [+] or [-] to cycle through and select the current day.
7. Press [START] to confirm the current day. The minutes will begin flashing, indicating the time has been saved.
8. The main dial can be turned to [OFF] and settings will be saved.

Scheduling

Start Time

START TIME is the time a zone begins watering. The K-Dial can be programmed with up to 4 different START TIMES per day.

1. Turn the main dial to [START TIME].
2. The hours will begin flashing. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the hours as desired.
3. Press [START] to save the hours. The minutes will begin flashing.
4. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the minutes as desired.
5. Press [START] to save the START TIME. The current settings for the next start time will display as [OFF] by default.
6. To disable a START TIME, hold down [+] and [-] simultaneously. The start time will appear as [OFF].
7. Press [START] to begin setting the START TIME for the next start. The [OFF] indicator (or hours) will begin flashing.
8. [Optional] Repeat steps 4-8 to set START TIMES for START 2, START 3, and/or START 4 as desired.

Water Days

DAYS are the specific days of the week when your K Dial will water. ⚠️ Check local regulations in your area before setting watering days.

1. Turn the main dial to [DAYS]. By default, every day is toggled on.
2. Press [START] to select a day. The first day (MON) will flash.
3. Press [+] or [-] to toggle watering on or off for the selected day. When a day is toggled off, a symbol will disappear from the display.
4. Press [START] to save the selection and proceed to the next day.
5. Repeat steps 3-4 until each day of the week has been set.

Run Time

RUN TIME is the duration for which each zone will water. The RUN TIME will be the same for all programmed START TIMES.

1. Turn the main dial to [RUN TIME].
2. The duration minutes will be flashing. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the minutes as desired. The default RUN TIME is 30 minutes.
3. Press [START] to save the minutes. The hours will begin flashing.
4. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the hours as desired.
5. Press [START] to save the hours. The minutes will flash again, confirming the duration is set.
6. To disable RUN TIME, hold down [+] and [-] simultaneously. The run time will appear as [OFF].
7. To reactivate RUN TIME, hold down [+] and [-] simultaneously.

Operation

Automatic Watering

1. For automatic watering, ensure the CLOCK, START TIME, DAYS, and RUN TIME have been set.
2. Turn the main dial to [ON]. The display will show the current day, time, and battery status.
3. Watering will occur automatically on the selected DAYS, at the designated START TIMES, for the programmed RUN TIMES.
4. When a designated START TIME is triggered, watering will begin, and the display will show the remaining watering time and a [sprinkler animation].
5. To suspend all automatic watering without losing settings, turn the main dial to [OFF]. With the main dial switched to [OFF], the display will show an [OFF indicator].
6. All watering schedules will run as planned if the main dial is not switched to [OFF].

Manual Watering

Manual operation is for watering a zone immediately. This watering time is separate from the pre-set schedules.

1. For manual watering, turn the main dial to [ON].
2. To start the manual watering session, press [START]. The manual watering indicator will be displayed.
3. During watering, the time separator will flash, the [sprinkler animation] will start, and the duration will begin counting down. The default manual watering duration is 10 minutes.
4. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the minutes as desired. Manual watering can be set in minutes from 1 minute to a maximum of 99 minutes. Hold down [+] when setting long watering times to scroll through the minutes more quickly.
5. To stop watering immediately, turn the main dial to [OFF].
6. To ensure your pre-set schedules are active, turn the main dial back to [ON].

Maintenance

Cold Weather

• Your K Dial Tap Timer should be removed from the tap and stored away during winter.
• ⚠️ Keep your tap timer out of freezing conditions, as this can damage internal components.

Batteries

• Remove batteries from your K Dial Tap Timer during periods of non-use, as this will erase all settings.
• ⚠️ Battery leakage can cause corrosion and damage to your K Dial Tap Timer.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not use rechargeable batteries.
• Replace batteries annually.

Other Precautions

• Do not use on tanks or other low-pressure systems.
• Use clean mains water only.
• Do not install horizontally.

Holman Industries guarantees this product against defects caused by faulty workmanship and materials for 2 years of domestic use from the date of purchase. During this guarantee period, Holman Industries will replace any defective product. Packaging and instructions may not be replaced unless faulty.

If a product is replaced during the guarantee period, the guarantee on the replacement product will expire 2 years from the purchase date of the original product, not 2 years from the date of replacement.

To the extent permitted by law, this Holman Replacement Guarantee excludes liability for consequential loss or any other loss or damage caused to property of persons arising from any cause whatsoever. It also excludes defects caused by the product not being used in accordance with instructions, accidental damage, misuse, or being tampered with by unauthorised persons. It excludes normal wear and tear and does not cover the cost of claiming under the warranty or transporting the goods to and from the place of purchase.
