Working Mode
1) Channel Mode
Ensure a memory channel is stored. The default operating mode is Channel mode. Rotate the channel knob to select a channel; the radio will announce the current channel number. This radio supports up to 200 memory channels.
2) FM Radio Mode
The transceiver supports FM radio frequencies from 64.00-108.00MHz. You can switch to FM radio mode by operating a side key (if configured for scanning). Rotate the channel knob to select FM radio channels. This radio supports up to 24 FM radio channels.
Detailed Function Descriptions
1) Scan & Scan Mode Setting
In Channel mode, the transceiver can scan the current operating band and memory channels. Operate a side key (if configured for scanning) to start scanning. The radio will halt on a signal. Operate the side key again to stop scanning. You can select how the scan halts on a signal:
- TO (Time-Operated): Halts on a signal for a set time. If no action is taken, scanning resumes even if the station is still active.
- CO (Carrier-Operated): Halts on a signal as long as it is active. Scanning resumes after the carrier drops.
- SE (Seek-Operated): Halts on a signal and does not restart automatically. Manual re-initiation is required.
2) VOX Level & VOX Switch
The VOX function allows automatic transmit/receive switching based on voice input to the microphone. With VOX ON, no PTT key press is needed. A VOX headset is not required. VOX level can be set from 1 to 7 via software (higher level means lower sensitivity). The software also allows adjustment of "Hang-Time" (transmit-receive delay after speech cessation).
3) TX Power Setting
Select High/Low TX power based on your talking environment. High and Low power settings can be stored separately for each memory. Access via Menu 4th to set TX power (≤5W high/middle/low).
4) Squelch Adjustment
The Squelch system mutes background noise when no signal is received, making standby operation more pleasant and reducing battery consumption.
5) Beeper setting
Enable or disable the key beeper.
6) Preset Channel Selection
Set signal type (OFF/DTMF/2T/5T) via software to achieve remote kill/stun/activate/revive functions using channels 1-16. Access via Menu 10th to choose a channel.
7) Transmitter Time-out-Timer (TOT)
The TOT feature limits transmission duration to a pre-programmed value, conserving battery and preventing interference from stuck PTT switches or long transmissions.
8) Busy Channel Lock-out (BCLO)
BCLO prevents the transmitter from activating if a strong signal is already present (squelch is open). This avoids disrupting communications on frequencies with different CTCSS/DCS codes. 'Carrier' mode prevents PTT if the frequency is busy. 'Sub' mode prevents PTT if the frequency and tone code match.
9) Transmit Over Beeper
Sends a beeper to inform the receiver that transmission is over.
10) Receive Saver
This feature reduces quiescent battery drain but may result in missing data bursts.
11) Voice Prompt
Enable or disable voice prompts. Default is ON.
12) CTCSS/DCS Operation
Many repeater systems require a low-frequency audio tone (CTCSS/DCS) to activate the repeater and prevent false activation. This transceiver supports 50 groups of CTCSS and 105 groups of normal/inverted DCS.
