Intended Use

The ZEISS DTC 4 | 50 is intended for mounting in front of an optical device for displaying heat signatures. It is suitable for nature observation, remote hunting observations, and civil use. This device is not a toy for children. Use the device only as described in the user manual. The manufacturer and dealer accept no liability for damages arising from non-intended or incorrect use.

Safety Instructions

Handling when used with a riflescope on a firearm

  • Check the legal and regional regulations in your country before using the ZEISS DTC 4 with a riflescope.
  • If the ZEISS DTC 4 is connected to an optical device used on a firearm, always ensure that the firearm is unloaded when mounting the ZEISS DTC 4.
  • Before using, ensure that your riflescope and the ZEISS DTC 4 are in proper working condition.
  • Test the correct setting of the point of impact using controlled shots.
  • Improper or inaccurate mounting of the ZEISS DTC 4 on the riflescope may result in a shift in the point of impact, which may affect accuracy.
  • An incorrectly adjusted ZEISS DTC 4 may result in a considerable deviation of the point of impact.

General Handling

  • Look through your riflescope to test if the optics provide a clear, undisturbed image.
  • If handled roughly, a maladjustment cannot be ruled out.
  • Never point the lens of the device directly at intense heat sources such as the sun or laser equipment. The objective lens and eyepiece can function as a burning glass and damage interior components.
  • Protection class IP65 / IP67 is only achieved when all rubber covers are firmly closed.

Danger of Swallowing

  • Do not place this device in the hands of small children. Incorrect handling can cause small parts to come loose which may be swallowed.

Battery Safety

  • Handle the device with care: rough handling can damage the internal battery.
  • Do not expose the device to fire or high temperatures above 60°C.
  • Do not disassemble the device to access the battery. The battery is not meant to be replaced by the end user.
  • Only charge the device at temperatures ranging between 10°C and 40°C.
  • Battery capacity decreases when operated in cold ambient temperatures; this is technical and not a defect.
  • Do not store the device for long periods at temperatures below 0°C or above 35°C, as this permanently reduces battery capacity.

Power Supply Unit Safety

  • Check your power supply unit (not included) and cable for visible damage before use.
  • Do not use defective parts and observe the safety instructions for your power supply unit.
  • The power supply must meet the requirements for limited power sources according to IEC 62368-1 (Annex Q) or IEC 60950-1 (LPS, Chapter 2.5).
