Diagram Description: Towbar Components and Assembly
The diagram shows an exploded view of the towbar assembly and its attachment points to the vehicle chassis. The main towbar crossmember (A) is a large horizontal tube. Attached to its ends are the left-hand (B) and right-hand (C) side arms. These side arms connect to the vehicle's chassis via support brackets (D for the right-hand side, D1 for the left-hand side). The diagram indicates that bracket D1 is 'Not used on Renault Koleos'. A detachable neck assembly (G) with a socket plate (H) attaches to the rear of the crossmember (A). Various fasteners, including bolts (J, K, L, L1) and washers (M, N), are shown connecting these components. Specific assembly steps reference using these items with specific chassis points.
Bumper Removal
- X-Trail: Two fixings along the top edge, six fixings along the lower edge, and three fixings found in each wheel arch. Carefully ease each wheel arch trim from the body and remove one M10 fixing either side.
- Koleos: Remove rear light clusters by removing two fixings from inside the boot. This will reveal three bumper fixings on either side to remove. Remove ten fixings from the bumper lower edge, two fixings from each wheel arch, release wheel arch trim from bodywork, and remove one fixing. Release bumper tips from bodywork and pull rearward.
- X-Trail Only: Temporarily remove the rear crash beam.
