The product's serial number can be found on the bottom of the laptop. Example: BY25WWAAAAXXXXX.

3. Setting Up Your Laptop

  1. Connect the power cord to the power adapter, plug it into a power outlet, and then connect it to the power port of your Razer Blade 18.

    ⚠️ Use the appropriate power cord for your region. For first-time use, fully charge your laptop or ensure it's connected to a power outlet before turning it on. Charging takes at least 2 hours.

  2. Power on your Razer Blade 18. The [Power Indicator] will show the laptop's status.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Windows 11 setup.

    ℹ️ It is recommended to connect your laptop to a wireless network with an active internet connection during setup.

4. Installing Drivers

Download drivers or firmware updates for your Razer Blade 18 and other supported Razer peripherals to customize advanced settings and lighting effects. When logged in, custom settings are stored in the cloud for access from any computer.

  1. Ensure your laptop has an active internet connection.
  2. By default, Razer Synapse starts automatically upon entering Windows 11. Sign up for a Razer ID or log in with an existing account.

  4. You can continue as a guest, but you won't be able to store settings to the cloud.
  5. Wait for Razer Synapse to automatically download and install necessary drivers.

5. Using Your Razer Blade 18

Keyboard Features

  • [Windows Start Menu Icon] Open the Start menu.
  • [Windows Copilot Icon] Launch Windows Copilot*.

Secondary Functions

Pressing the [Fn Key] in combination with function keys activates their secondary functions.

Function Keys Secondary Function Description
[Mute Icon] [Volume Down Icon] [Volume Up Icon] Mute audio output, decrease audio output, and increase audio output.
[Display Toggle Icon] Toggles the monitor output.
[Play/Pause Icon] [Previous Track Icon] [Next Track Icon] Play/pause the current track, return to the previous track, or skip to the next track.
[Brightness Down Icon] [Brightness Up Icon] Decrease or increase the screen brightness.
[Keyboard Brightness Down Icon] [Keyboard Brightness Up Icon] Decrease or increase the keyboard brightness.
M1 - M4 Assign a sequence of actions to a key for one-touch repetitive tasks. Use Razer Synapse to set up any of these keys. **
[Context Menu Icon] Open in-app context menus.
[Performance Mode Icon] Switch between system performance modes.**
[Windows Key Icon] [Alt+Tab Icon] [Alt+F4 Icon] Disable the [Windows Key], [Alt+Tab], and [Alt+F4] functions (customizable via Razer Synapse).
[Mute Microphone Icon] Mute or unmute the microphone.

6. Configuring Your Razer Blade 18

ℹ️ Disclaimer: This guide provides an overview of Razer Synapse and may not cover all features. Razer Synapse requires an internet connection for installation, updates, and cloud features. Registering for a Razer ID is recommended but optional. Features are subject to change.

Launching Razer Synapse

To launch Razer Synapse, click the search icon in your taskbar, type "Razer Synapse", and select the app. Alternatively, if Synapse is running, click the [Razer Synapse Icon] in the system tray.

Synapse Tab

The Synapse tab is the default view. Use the following buttons to navigate the user interface:

  • [Minimize Button]: Minimizes the app to the taskbar.
  • [Maximize Button]: Expands the window to fill the screen. Click again to restore original size.
  • [Close Button]: Closes all tabs and terminates the application.
  • [Previous Tab Button]: Returns to the last visited tab.
  • [Next Tab Button]: Moves to the next page.
  • [Refresh Tab Button]: Reloads the current page.
  • [Download Update Button]: Appears when there are changes to the app.
  • [More Button]: Opens a pop-up to access Devices, Modules, and Other Installed Apps tabs.
  • [Settings Button]: Opens the Settings tab for app configuration.
  • [Profile Button]: Opens a pop-up for Log In, Feedback, Rate Software, Add WiFi Device, and Exit options.
  • [Info Button]: Hovering displays additional feature information.

Dashboard

The Dashboard subtab provides an overview of Razer Synapse, allowing access to devices, modules, and online services.

Gamer Room

The Gamer Room subtab displays devices with the Razer Aether Light feature, allowing management of Gamer Room-supported devices.

  • Synapse Override: Customize device lighting to react to Chroma-enabled games and Chroma Connect apps.
  • Controlled By Gamer Room App: Displays devices controlled remotely by the Gamer Room app.

Devices & Modules

The Modules subtab lists all installed and available modules for installation.

Global Shortcuts

Bind operations or Razer Synapse functions to custom key combinations from any Synapse-enabled device input, applying across all device profiles.

ℹ️ Only Razer Synapse-enabled device inputs are recognized.

BLADE 18 Tab

The BLADE 18 tab is the main interface for customizing your device's profiles, key assignments, gaming mode, trackpad, lighting, and power saving features. Changes are saved automatically to local and cloud storage.

  • Profiles Dropdown Bar: Displays all profiles for quick switching.
  • Miscellaneous Button [...]: Opens a pop-up with profile options.
  • System Performance Bar: Shows real-time CPU/GPU usage, fan speed, memory, and storage. Customizable via the miscellaneous button.

Customize Subtab

Modify key assignments, snap tap, primary function key, and gaming mode settings.

  • Profile: A data storage system for peripheral settings. Profiles can be added, imported, renamed, duplicated, exported, or deleted.
  • Standard / Hypershift: Hypershift mode provides a secondary set of key assignments activated by holding the Hypershift key (defaulted to [Fn Key]).
  • Gaming Mode: Customize which keys are disabled during gameplay (e.g., [Windows Key], [Copilot Key], [Alt+Tab], [Alt+F4]).
  • Snap Tap: Prevents two keys from registering simultaneously, prioritizing the latest input.
  • Function Key Primary: Switch function keys (F1-F12) between standard and multimedia functions.
  • Trackpad: Adjust scroll behavior, touchpad delay, gestures, and cursor options.

Remap Menu

Clicking the [Remap Menu Button] reveals and allows modification of current keyboard assignments.

Alternatively, skip assignments by selecting them on the Customize tab.

Key assignments can be changed to:

  • Default: Returns the key to its original setting.
  • Keyboard Function: Assigns a keyboard function, with an option for Turbo mode (repeated key presses).
  • Mouse Function: Assigns mouse functions like Left Click, Right Click, Scroll Click, Double Click, Scroll Up/Down/Left/Right, and repeat scroll functions. Turbo mode is also available for some mouse functions.
  • Macro: Executes a prerecorded sequence of keystrokes and button presses. Requires the Macro module.
  • Inter-device: Changes functionality of other Razer Synapse-enabled devices (e.g., adjust mouse sensitivity with the keyboard).
  • Switch Profile: Quickly change profiles and load new key assignments.
  • Switch Chroma Effect: Switch between Chroma Effect Profiles. Requires Chroma Studio module.
  • Razer Hypershift: Activate Hypershift mode when the key is held down.
  • Launch: Open an app or website using the assigned key.
  • Multimedia: Assign multimedia controls like Volume Down/Up, Mute Volume, Mic Volume Up/Down, Mute Mic, Mute All, Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track.
  • Windows Shortcuts: Assign keys to Windows OS shortcut commands. Visit support.microsoft.com/kb/126449 for more info.
  • Text Function: Type predefined text with a key press. Supports Unicode and special characters.
  • Disable: Renders the assigned key unusable.

Performance Subtab

Customize system capabilities, affecting clock speed, power consumption, and thermals.

  • Performance Modes: Select modes (Balanced, Silent, Performance, Turbo, Custom) to adjust performance, fan speed, and power usage.
  • Fan Control: Options include Auto (default), Fixed Fan Speed (set RPM), or Manual Fan Curve (customize based on CPU/GPU temperature).

Display Subtab

Modify display settings such as resolution, color, refresh rate, and GPU mode.

  • Laptop Display: Adjust resolution, switch screen refresh rates, and enable auto-refresh rate switching on battery.
  • External Display: Links to Windows Display Settings for second monitor options.
  • Laptop Display Calibration: View calibration report and check Calman-verified criteria. Visit the Calman website for details.
  • Laptop Color Profile: Change color accuracy using available profiles or Windows Color Management.

Sound Subtab

Adjust and modify audio settings.

  • Audio Equalizer: Select presets (Game, Movie, Music, Voice, Custom) for optimized audio experiences.
  • Volume: Adjust device audio volume and application volumes via the Windows volume mixer.
  • Sound Properties: Launch Windows Sound Properties for playback/recording device configuration, sound schemes, and communication activity.

Battery Subtab

Limit charge level to extend battery life. Option to fully charge when away from a power source.

  • Battery Health Optimizer: Set a charge limit to stop charging at a certain percentage (e.g., 80%) to preserve battery health. Option to allow full charge.

Lighting Subtab

Modify device light settings.

  • System Lighting: Customize brightness, toggle lighting on/off, and link brightness settings. Vapor Chamber Lighting can stay on in sleep mode.
  • Switch Off Lighting: Power-saving tool to disable lighting when the display is off or the system is idle. Can be set to turn off at a low battery percentage.
  • Effects: Apply quick effects like Ambient awareness, Audio meter, Breathing, Fire, Reactive, Ripple, Spectrum cycling, Starlight, Static, Wave, and Wheel. Each effect has a description and setup method.
  • Advanced Effects: Choose or create Chroma Effect Profiles. Launch Chroma Studio to create custom profiles.

ℹ️ Only Razer devices supporting the selected lighting effect will synchronize.

Macro Subtab

Create, edit, and organize macros (prerecorded sequences of commands).

  • My Macros: Manage macros, create new ones, sort, and organize them.
  • Macro Dropdown Bar: Access macro management options.
  • Miscellaneous Button [...]: Opens a pop-up with macro options.
  • New Macro: Link to create a new macro.

Recording Macros:

  • Click the [Record Button] to record keystrokes, button presses, and cursor movements.
  • Options before recording: Start Delay (1-5 seconds), Shortcut Key for recording, Delay Settings between commands, Mouse Movement Tracking.
  • Click [Stop Button] or use the Shortcut Key to end recording.
  • Edit recorded commands sequentially.
  • The Insert menu allows adding delays, keystrokes, button presses, macro groups, app launches, commands, text, and loops.

Key Binds Subtab

View Shortcut Keys for selected macros and assign macros to keys or buttons.

Linked Games Tab

Add, view, or search for apps and link peripherals to them. Apps can be sorted alphabetically, by last played, or most played.

  • Link an app by selecting it, then choosing a device and its profile. This automatically sets the device profile when the app launches.

Settings Tab

Configure various options for the app.

  • Synapse Subtab: App-specific options.
  • Auto Launch: Configure Synapse to start automatically with the system.
  • Notifications: Display on-screen notifications even during full-screen apps.
  • Recommendations: Show product and feature recommendations on the Dashboard.
  • Tutorials Reset: Reactivate tutorials for learning Synapse features.
  • Synapse 3 Profile Migration: Transfer Profiles, Macros, and Chroma Effects from Synapse 3 to Synapse.
  • Device Lighting: Choose which app controls device lighting effects.
  • General Subtab: Access miscellaneous options and software information.
  • Language: Change the display language of Razer Synapse.
  • About: View software version, copyright statement, and links to terms of use and social communities.

Feedback Tab

Provide comments, suggestions, and report problems with Razer Synapse. Earn rewards for reporting bugs via the Bug Bounty Program.

7. Safety and Maintenance

Safety Guidelines

  • For troubleshooting, unplug the device and visit support.razer.com for FAQs and guides.
  • Do not disassemble the device; doing so may void the warranty. Do not operate during power fluctuations.
  • Keep the device away from liquid, humidity, or moisture. Operate within 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F). If the temperature exceeds this range, unplug or switch off the device to stabilize.

Comfort

To avoid injury and ensure comfort:

  • Position the laptop directly in front of you, with an external mouse next to it. Keep elbows at your side.
  • Adjust chair and table height so the laptop is at or below elbow height.
  • Maintain good posture: feet supported, posture straight, shoulders relaxed.
  • During gameplay, keep wrists relaxed and straight. Avoid prolonged repetitive motions without breaks.
  • Do not rest wrists on hard surfaces; use a wrist rest if needed.
  • Avoid sitting in the same position all day; stand up, stretch.
  • If experiencing physical discomfort (pain, numbness, tingling), consult a medical doctor.

Battery Warning

The Razer Blade 18 contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Battery life depends on usage. If the battery seems drained, try charging it. If it fails to recharge, it may be non-operational.

⚠️ Do not open, mutilate, expose to conductive materials, moisture, liquid, fire, or heat. This can cause leaks or explosions. Do not use or charge a leaking, discolored, or deformed battery. Do not leave the battery discharged for extended periods. Store fully charged if unused for over 30 days. Do not tamper with the battery. Dispose of according to local regulations.

FCC Declaration of Conformance

This equipment complies with FCC limits for Class B digital devices, providing reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. It generates, uses, and radiates radio frequency energy. If not installed per instructions, it may cause interference. If interference occurs, try reorienting the antenna, increasing separation between equipment and receiver, or connecting to a different circuit. Consult a dealer or technician for help.
