Important Information Before Mounting
Read the instructions in this chapter carefully before proceeding.
WARNING:
- The floor and walls in the room where the unit is mounted must be even and leveled.
- Minimum ceiling height is 2300 mm for the AM 950 F unit.
- Use screws intended for the supporting wall/ceiling material. Ensure the screws can support the unit's weight and fit the unit's attachment points.
If the AM 950 F unit tips over due to an uneven or unlevelled surface, there is a high risk of serious personal injury and damage to the unit.
NOTICE: Use appropriate lifting equipment. The unit is heavy; do not lift or move it by hand.
NOTICE: Duct holes in the wall must have an outward-downward gradient of 1-2% to prevent heavy rain from entering the unit.
It is recommended to drill duct holes 10-15 mm larger than indicated on the drawings to allow for subsequent insulation, prevent direct contact with the wall, and allow for a vapor barrier to be restored.
Minimum Distance to Building Parts and Room Layout
AM 950 C
Correct positioning is crucial. The following minimum distances must be considered:
- A (Max. distance from ceiling): 6 mm
- B (Min. distance from wall): 0.5 m
- C (Min. free space for maintenance): 0.95 m
- D: External PIR/motion sensor
- E (Approx.): 2.25 m (1.8 m – 2.5 m)
Obstacles in the room can affect airflow. Consider the room layout when choosing the position. See Figure 6 for examples of correct vs. incorrect installation.
AM 950 F
The unit requires free space for its door to open. Obstacles can affect airflow. Consider the room layout:
- A minimum distance of 10 mm is required on the left-hand side (front view) for the unit door to open.
- A minimum distance of 1150 mm is required in front of the unit for the door to open.
Obstacles like ceiling lamps can interrupt airflow, creating unwanted flow directions (see Figure 7).
Tools and Accessories
Required tools and accessories include:
- Lifting equipment suitable for the unit weight (min. 350 kg), e.g., a pallet loader.
- Core drill (min. Ø315 mm).
- Common hand tools, including a spirit level.
- Sealants and sealing tape.
- Clean underlay (e.g., cardboard, thick plastic, blanket) to prevent scratches.
- Laths/battens/blocks of wood for supporting the unit during lifting.
Depending on the order, duct pipes, grilles, and vapor barriers may also be required. Installation cannot be done correctly without this equipment.

Attach the brackets on top of the unit to the wall using appropriate screws. Ensure the unit is firmly secured.
Mount Duct Pipes and Grilles
This section describes fitting ducting and sealing. Materials and methods vary based on customer order, options, and site conditions.
The steps are:
- Mount the unit (already completed).
- Fit the ducting.
- Mount the outside grille.
Figure 29 shows a general overview of intake/exhaust ducts. The process applies to units with ducts on the back or through the ceiling.
NOTICE:
- Ventilation ducts must be installed according to local standards and rules.
- Condensation and heat insulation must be performed according to local standards and rules.
- Fire requirements according to local standards and rules must be observed.
Important Information:
- Duct length is calculated based on wall/roof dimensions.
- Ensure duct pipes are not twisted or compressed against the unit's spigots to avoid increased noise levels.
- Intake and exhaust air ducts within the building envelope must be insulated against condensation and noise if visible. Service access must be provided to all components.
- Sealant must be applied inside and outside (see section 6.3.1).
- An outside grille must be mounted. Refer to the Airmaster website for information on the Boomerain® grille.
Sealing
Figure 30 shows a sectional drawing of a wall with duct holes and fittings. The unit (1) is installed on the inner wall.
Apply sealant to the duct's outside edges (4 in Figure 30).
Apply sealant to the inside around the unit's base and sides, between the unit and the wall (see Figure 31).
Use a sealant with long-term elasticity or expanding sealing tape for a flexible seal, depending on the wall condition.
Condensate Drainage (Option)
The AM 950 unit may be fitted with a condensate pump and hose. Drainage connections depend on the site.
Drainage can be to a waste-water pipe or through the outer wall. If connecting to a waste-water pipe, install a water trap to prevent odors (see Figure 32).
If the drainage hose is led through the outer wall, it must be protected against ice formation. Drill a hole with a suitable diameter and an outwardly sloping gradient of 1-2%. Seal the joint between the hose and the outer wall.
