Transportation and Storage

The AM950 unit is packed on a pallet, with one unit per pallet. The pallet must be secured during transport to prevent movement or shifting. Avoid dropping or damaging the unit during handling.

NOTICE: The unit must be stored in a dry area at a temperature between -10 to 30° C.

NOTICE: The unit can be tilted briefly, e.g., when passing through a door. Tilt the unit front side upward.

Ensure the back side of the unit is supported with blocks of wood or similar to avoid damaging fittings. When tilting, always place the unit on its back side, never on the edges.

AM 950 F

Important Information Before Mounting

Read the instructions in this chapter carefully before proceeding.

WARNING:

If the AM 950 F unit tips over due to an uneven or unlevelled surface, there is a high risk of serious personal injury and damage to the unit.

NOTICE: Use appropriate lifting equipment. The unit is heavy; do not lift or move it by hand.

NOTICE: Duct holes in the wall must have an outward-downward gradient of 1-2% to prevent heavy rain from entering the unit.

It is recommended to drill duct holes 10-15 mm larger than indicated on the drawings to allow for subsequent insulation, prevent direct contact with the wall, and allow for a vapor barrier to be restored.

Minimum Distance to Building Parts and Room Layout

AM 950 C

Correct positioning is crucial. The following minimum distances must be considered:

Obstacles in the room can affect airflow. Consider the room layout when choosing the position. See Figure 6 for examples of correct vs. incorrect installation.

AM 950 F

The unit requires free space for its door to open. Obstacles can affect airflow. Consider the room layout:

Obstacles like ceiling lamps can interrupt airflow, creating unwanted flow directions (see Figure 7).

Tools and Accessories

Required tools and accessories include:

Depending on the order, duct pipes, grilles, and vapor barriers may also be required. Installation cannot be done correctly without this equipment.

Unpacking

The scope of delivery is detailed on the delivery note. A general list includes:

CAUTION: Do not start installation if any parts are damaged or missing.

The Mounting Process

AM 950 C

The mounting process involves seven steps:

  1. Disassemble the side and front covers.
  2. Disassemble the rear bracket.
  3. Mark drill holes for the brackets and ducts.
  4. Drill holes.
  5. Mount the bracket.
  6. Mount the unit.
  7. Reassemble the side and front covers.

The rear bracket is mounted on the unit during shipping and must be disassembled first, along with the side covers. The front cover also needs to be removed to attach the unit to the ceiling. After marking and drilling holes for brackets and ducts, mount the rear bracket, lift the unit onto it, and reassemble the covers. Finally, mount duct pipes, grilles, and the drain. Electrical installation and control panel setup are covered in the Installation manual.

After mounting, fill out the form on page 2 with unit details.

Disassemble the side and front covers

  1. Disassemble the left-hand side cover, placing it on a protective underlay to prevent scratches.
  2. Disassemble the right-hand side cover, placing it on a protective underlay.
  3. Disassemble the front cover, placing it on a protective underlay.

Keep the bolts and washers for reassembly.

Disassemble the rear bracket

Disassemble the rear bracket as shown in Figures 11 and 12. Keep the bolts for mounting the unit.

Mark drill holes for the brackets and ducts

Rear and front brackets
  1. Hold the rear bracket against the wall and ceiling, ensuring it is level.
  2. Mark the holes for the rear bracket.
  3. Mark the holes for the front bracket (part of the unit, cannot be disassembled) using Figure 14 and Table 8.
Duct
  1. Hold the rear bracket against the wall and ceiling, ensuring it is level.
  2. Mark the center of the duct holes as shown in Figure 15 and Table 9. The rear bracket's top notches serve as reference points.

Drill holes

Drill the holes, ensuring the correct gradient and size for the duct holes (refer to Information Box on page 13).

Mount the bracket

Mount the bracket using all attachment points on the wall and ceiling.

Mount the unit

Use appropriate lifting equipment (refer to section 5.2). Place a protective underlay between the lift and the unit. Lift the unit onto the bracket, ensuring it is hinged correctly. Ensure the electrical wire and drain hose are not squeezed. Check that the unit is level.

WARNING: Do not place hands between the wall and the unit.

Attach the unit to the bracket on both sides using the large bolts. Ensure the bracket fully supports the unit. Check that the unit is level.

Mount the front bracket onto the ceiling using all attachment points. Check that the unit is level.

Reassemble the side and front covers

Reassemble the front and side covers using the previously removed bolts (see Figures 22, 23, and 24).

The next step is to mount duct pipes and grilles (Section 6.3).

AM 950 F

The mounting process for the AM 950 F unit involves three or four steps:

  1. Mark and drill duct holes.
  2. Mount the unit.
  3. Mount duct pipes and grilles + sealing.
  4. Connect the drain (if applicable).

Figures in this section refer to the HH version. For VV, SSR, or SSL versions, refer to Appendices B, C, or D for duct hole locations.

Electrical installation and control panel setup are covered in the Installation manual.

After mounting, fill out the form on page 2 with unit details.

Mark and drill duct holes

Ensure correct gradient and size for duct holes (refer to Information Box on page 13).

  1. Mark the holes for the ducts.
  2. Drill duct holes.

Consider wearing a face mask or similar protection when drilling to avoid inhaling dust particles.

Mount the unit

Before lifting, place laths/battens/blocks of wood under the unit to prevent damage to the height-adjustable feet. Ensure the feet are as short as possible.

Raise the unit into an upright position and place it close to the wall using a pallet loader (see Figure 26).

CAUTION: Be careful when moving the unit on the pallet loader. If the unit tilts, it can cause injury and damage.

Adjust the feet to level the unit (see Figure 27).

Attach the brackets on top of the unit to the wall using appropriate screws. Ensure the unit is firmly secured.

Mount Duct Pipes and Grilles

This section describes fitting ducting and sealing. Materials and methods vary based on customer order, options, and site conditions.

The steps are:

  1. Mount the unit (already completed).
  2. Fit the ducting.
  3. Mount the outside grille.

Figure 29 shows a general overview of intake/exhaust ducts. The process applies to units with ducts on the back or through the ceiling.

NOTICE:

Important Information:

Sealing

Figure 30 shows a sectional drawing of a wall with duct holes and fittings. The unit (1) is installed on the inner wall.

Apply sealant to the duct's outside edges (4 in Figure 30).

Apply sealant to the inside around the unit's base and sides, between the unit and the wall (see Figure 31).

Use a sealant with long-term elasticity or expanding sealing tape for a flexible seal, depending on the wall condition.

Condensate Drainage (Option)

The AM 950 unit may be fitted with a condensate pump and hose. Drainage connections depend on the site.

Drainage can be to a waste-water pipe or through the outer wall. If connecting to a waste-water pipe, install a water trap to prevent odors (see Figure 32).

If the drainage hose is led through the outer wall, it must be protected against ice formation. Drill a hole with a suitable diameter and an outwardly sloping gradient of 1-2%. Seal the joint between the hose and the outer wall.
