5 Important Information Before Unit Mounting
Read the instructions in this chapter carefully before starting.
- WARNING: The floor and walls of the installation room must be flat and level.
- WARNING: The minimum ceiling height is 2300 mm for the AM 950 F unit (see section 3.2.2).
- WARNING: Use screws suitable for the load-bearing wall/ceiling material. Ensure the screws can support the unit's weight and are compatible with the unit's fixing points. In case of falling due to an uneven surface, the AM 950 F unit may cause serious injury or damage.
- NOTICE: Use appropriate lifting equipment. The unit is heavy. Do not attempt to lift or move it by hand.
- NOTICE: Holes for duct passage in the wall should have a slope of 1-2% towards the outside and downwards to prevent water from entering the unit in case of heavy rain.
It is recommended to drill holes 10-15 mm larger than indicated on the drawings. This allows for subsequent insulation, prevents direct contact with the wall, and helps restore the vapor barrier.
5.1 Minimum Distance from Building Elements and Room Configuration
5.1.1 AM 950 C
Correct positioning of the unit is important. The following diagram shows the most critical distances to consider before installation.
Illustration 5: Minimum distance from building elements, AM 950 C unit
A | Maximum ceiling distance = 6 mm |
B | Minimum wall distance = 0.5 m |
C | Minimum free space for maintenance = 0.95 m |
D | Motion sensor/External PIR |
E | Approx. 2.25 m (1.8 m – 2.5 m) |
Table 7: Minimum distances, AM 950 C unit
Obstacles in the room affect the airflow of the AM 950 C unit. Therefore, room layout must also be considered when choosing the correct position. See Illustration 6 for examples of correct and incorrect installation.
5.1.2 AM 950 F
Ensure correct unit positioning. Sufficient space must be provided to open the unit's access panel. Room obstacles affect the unit's airflow, so room configuration is crucial for determining the adequate position.
Key distances to respect before installation:
- A minimum distance of 10 mm is required on the left side (front view) to open the unit's access panel.
- A minimum distance of 1150 mm is required in front of the unit, otherwise the access panel cannot be opened.
As mentioned, room obstacles can affect airflow. A large ceiling fixture, for example, can disrupt airflow or direct air in unwanted directions, as shown in the example below.
Illustration 7: Obstacles can create undesirable airflow directions - illustrative example only.
5.2 Tools and Accessories
Before mounting the AM 950 C or AM 950 F unit, you will need the following tools and accessories:

6.4 Mounting Ducts and Grilles
This section and the following describe the general mounting and sealing of ducts. Duct mounting materials and methods depend on the customer's order, chosen options, and the installation site. Therefore, only general guidance can be provided. The steps to follow are the same:
- Unit mounting (already done).
- Duct placement.
- Mounting of the external grille.
Illustration 29 provides an overview. Note that the illustration shows a unit with rear intake/exhaust ducts. The procedure is the same for units with ceiling intake/exhaust ducts.
Illustration 29: Ducts and grilles - overview
- NOTICE: Ventilation ducts must be installed in accordance with current local standards and regulations.
- NOTICE: Condensation and thermal insulation must be carried out in accordance with current local standards and regulations.
- NOTICE: Local fire safety standards and regulations must be respected.
Important:
- Duct length is calculated based on wall thickness / roof dimensions.
- Be careful not to twist or compress the ducts against the unit's air outlet or inlet, as this can increase noise levels.
- If located within the building envelope, air supply and exhaust ducts must be insulated against condensation. All components must be accessible for maintenance.
- If visible, air supply and exhaust ducts must be insulated against noise. All components must be accessible for maintenance.
- Sealant must be applied both externally and internally (see section 6.4.1).
- An external grille must be mounted. For information on the Boomerain® grille, please consult our website.
6.4.1 Sealing
Note that Illustration 30 below shows a unit with rear intake/exhaust ducts passing through a wall. Illustration 30 is a cross-section drawing showing a wall with a duct hole and duct connections. A unit is installed on the interior wall. This is the gray box on the right, marked with "1".

2. Wall
3. Duct and pipe
4. Sealing points on the exterior
- Apply sealant to the outer edges of the ducts (see "4" in Illustration 30 above, Illustration 31).
- Apply sealant to the inner edges (see Illustration 31). Depending on the condition of the ceiling/wall, use a sealant that maintains long-term elasticity or an expansive sealing tape to form a flexible joint.
Illustration 31: Sealing
6.5 Condensate Drain (Optional)
Depending on the chosen options, the AM 950 unit can be equipped with a condensate pump and a condensate drain duct. This section provides general information on condensate drainage. Only general guidance can be given, as drainage connections depend on the installation site.
Drainage can be done in several ways: connecting the drain duct to a wastewater drain, or passing the duct through the exterior wall. Other options also exist.
If the drain duct is connected to a wastewater drain, we recommend installing a trap to block unpleasant odors from the wastewater system (see Illustration 32).
Illustration 32: Water trap to prevent odors
The drain duct can also pass through the exterior wall; in this case, it must be protected against freezing. If you pass the drain duct through the wall, drill a hole of appropriate diameter with a slope of 1-2% towards the outside. Remember to seal the joint between the duct and the exterior wall.
