Remotely Managed Gigabit Converter

The PLANET GT-905A 10/100/1000BASE-T to 100/1000BASE-X Managed Media Converter is designed to meet advanced network demands with an easy Plug and Play feature. It provides 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet on its RJ45 port and offers stable Gigabit SFP fiber performance. The GT-905A supports conversion between 10/100/1000BASE-T and 100/1000BASE-X Ethernet, including an SFP slot for single-mode or multimode media, enabling easy, efficient, and inexpensive connection of three types of network segments.

User-friendly and Centralized Web Management Interface

For efficient management, the GT-905A is equipped with a remote Web/SNMP interface. Its built-in Web-based management provides a user-friendly, platform-independent management and configuration facility. The GT-905A also supports the standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for management via compatible software. Additionally, the TS-1000/802.3ah OAM protocol allows for remote management and monitoring of connected devices.

Enhanced Management Features

The GT-905A offers advanced management functions including IP address configuration, DHCP client function, port configuration, converter configuration, 802.1Q tag VLAN, Q-in-Q VLAN, ingress/egress bandwidth control, QoS, Layer protocol filter, and broadcast storm and bandwidth control to optimize bandwidth utilization.

Easy Installation

Fully compliant with IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T, IEEE 802.3u 100BASETX/FX, IEEE 802.3ab 1000BASE-T, and IEEE 802.3z 1000BASE-LX/SX, the GT-905A is quick and simple to install via Plug and Play. It can be used as a standalone unit or as a slide-in module for PLANET Media Converter Chassis (MC-700, MC-1500, and MC-1500R series). The chassis can provide DC power to the GT-905A for maintaining the fiber-optic network at the central location.

Applications

Fiber-optic Networking for ISPs, Enterprises and Homes

With high-speed data transmission and easy installation, the GT-905A facilitates the construction of FTTH (Fiber to the Home), FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) for ISPs, and FTTB (Fiber to the Building) for enterprises. The GT-905A allows network administrators to easily monitor operations via its Web management interface.

A diagram illustrates a typical network setup: An ISP Central Building connects to a Remote Web Management Monitoring Center. Within the ISP building, a Gigabit Switch connects to multiple GT-905A units. These converters then connect via fiber optic cables (1000BASE-LX) over various distances (10km, 20km, 120km) to different locations like FTTP, FTTB, and FTTH facilities. Another diagram shows a Headquarters connecting to a Branch Office. The Headquarters uses a Gigabit Switch connected to a GT-905A, which then connects via UTP cable to another Gigabit Switch at the Branch Office, also connected to a GT-905A. Fiber optic connections (1000BASE-SX/LX) are shown between the converters and switches, with distances indicated (e.g., ~100m for UTP, 220m~120km for fiber).
