The Rheem-Ruud line of commercial electric water heaters offers a broad range of models designed for versatile and dependable operation. These units feature a completely redesigned single-panel control center with a hinged door for easy access to controls and elements. Available in single or three-phase operation, they provide maximum hot water from storage capacity and efficient heating elements.
Key features include thick R-Foam® insulation for superior heat retention and energy savings, and Lifeguard® high-efficiency stainless-steel clad elements for extended life and performance. The units offer seven different input power ratings from 9 KW to 36 KW to suit various commercial and industrial requirements.
Model Applications
These water heaters are suitable for general commercial hot water applications. They are also ideal for point-of-use installations, minimizing temperature loss in long piping runs. A single unit can serve as a booster heater for commercial dishwashers. For food service establishments requiring two temperatures, a single storage unit can be paired with a mixing valve. For higher volume needs, multiple units (2, 3, or 4) can be connected in parallel using optional factory kits.
Energy Information
Rheemglas® commercial electric water heaters are engineered for efficient performance. Surface-mounted thermostat models provide water temperatures between 120°F and 160°F (50°C to 71°C). These units have been tested and certified by CSA and meet or exceed the energy efficiency requirements of ASHRAE Standard 90.1b 1992.
Construction Features
- Glass Lined Storage Tank: Heavy-duty steel tank with a double coating of Rheemglas® for corrosion resistance. Designed for 150 PSI working pressure and includes factory-installed anode rods or cathodic protection.
- Water Connections: Hot outlet and cold inlet are 1-1/2" NPS brass nipples to reduce turbulence and optimize tank draw.
- R-FOAM® Insulation: Rigid polyurethane foam insulation provides superior insulation (exceeding R-16 factor) and efficiency. A patented injection process enhances durability. Fiberglass insulation in the heating element compartment aids heat retention and service access.
- Single Panel Control Box: Features a hinged door for immediate access to all electrical components and elements.
- Heating Elements: Screw-in LIFEGUARD® elements with stainless steel (INCO-LOY® 800) sheath and Nichrome wire filament are immersed directly in water for efficient heat transfer and are easily replaceable.
- Terminal Block: CSA-listed terminal blocks simplify installation and accept copper or aluminum field wiring.
- Electrical Connections: Pre-wired, accessible control box with multiple knock-outs (1/2" to 2") to comply with the Canadian Electrical Code. Includes a grounding screw.
- Automatic Temperature Control: Surface-mounted thermostat adjusts water temperature from 120°F to 160°F (50°C to 71°C). High-temperature limit controls (factory set at 190°F / 88°C) provide over-temperature protection.
- Standard Equipment: ASME T&P Relief Valve for safety against excessive temperature or pressure.

Sample Specifications
Water Heater shall be Rheemglas Commercial Electric Model [Model Number Placeholder] having an input of [Input KW Placeholder] KW and a recovery rate of [Recovery GPH Placeholder] GPH at a [Temperature Rise Placeholder] temperature rise, and equipped for [Voltage Placeholder] volt, [Phase Placeholder] phase operation. Tank shall be lined with a double coating of exclusive Rheemglas high temperature glass formula and furnished with rigidly supported anode rods. Tank shall be designed for 150 PSI working pressure and be approved-listed and constructed in accordance with Canadian Electrical Codes. Tank shall be completely insulated with R-Foam® Insulation having a minimum insulation factor of R-16. Water heater shall be equipped with "screw-in” immersion elements, surface thermostat, and manual reset high temperature limit control. Large terminal block that accepts either CU or AL field connect wire, plus grounding screw for attaching an equipment grounding conductor.

Installation Clearance: A minimum clearance of 0 inches from the jacket and 18 inches from the access door is recommended for protection of combustible material.
