Overview
The VentMaster series of power direct vent gas commercial water heaters by Rheem-Ruud are engineered to meet the high-demand hot water needs of various commercial establishments. Typical installations include restaurants, hotels, laundromats, and multi-family housing. These 100-gallon tank-type models are available with input capacities ranging from 150,000 BTU/Hr to 250,000 BTU/Hr.
Key advantages include the elimination of negative air pressure issues by drawing combustion air from outside the building, and the flexibility to install using 3" or 4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe, negating the need for masonry or metal venting chimneys. The units require a standard 120V/1.5 Amps electrical supply.

- Spark-To-Pilot ignition system: Standard on all models, providing reliable and energy-saving ignition sequencing by activating the pilot only when the thermostat calls for heat.
- Base rail design: Facilitates easier handling during moving and positioning of the unit.
System Features
- System Sentinel™ LED diagnostic system: An exclusive diagnostic system that uses glowing LED lights to verify system operation sequence by sequence.
- Full port, full flow brass drain valve: Ensures efficient draining.
- Temperature and pressure relief valve: AGA/ASME rated and factory installed for safety.
- Hand-hole cleanout: Allows for easy removal of lime and sediment deposits.
- Gas control system: Features a fully adjustable thermostat (100°F to 180°F), a 24-volt combination gas valve including main gas pressure regulation, an on-off manual valve, a 120/24 volt transformer, and a high-limit temperature cut-out.
Certifications and Ratings
- Efficiency: Tested according to ANSI procedures, meeting or exceeding thermal efficiency and standby loss requirements of current ASHRAE standards (as mandated by the Energy Policy Act (EPact)). Also meets energy efficiency codes of all states, including the California Energy Commission (CEC).
- Safety and construction: Design certified by CSA for operation up to 180°F, meeting safety and construction requirements of ANSI Z21.10.3, suitable as an automatic storage or instantaneous water heater, an automatic circulating tank water heater, and for operation on combustible floors and in alcove installations. All models comply with North Carolina Code.
- Pressure Rating: CERTIFIED FOR A 150 PSI MAXIMUM WORKING PRESSURE (160 PSI FOR ASME MODELS).
- Optional construction: ASME construction is available on designated models.

Recommended Specifications
Water heater(s) shall be model manufactured by Rheem-Ruud, having a gas input of [input_btu] Btu/hr. and a recovery rate of [recovery_gph] GPH at a 100°F temperature rise. The water heater shall have a storage capacity of [storage_gallons] gallons. The water heater shall bear the CSA seal of certification and be factory equipped with an AGA/ASME rated temperature and pressure relief valve. The tank shall have a coating of high-temperature porcelain enamel and be furnished with a magnesium anode rod rigidly supported. The water heater shall meet or exceed the energy factor requirements of ASHRAE. The tank shall have a working pressure rating of 150 psi and shall be completely factory assembled, including a pressure regulator properly adjusted for operation on natural gas with a stainless steel burner. The water heater shall have a spark-to-pilot ignition system. Controls shall be arranged for safety shutoff in the event of pilot failure. The complete unit shall be insulated with fiberglass insulation. The water heater shall be covered by a three-year limited warranty against tank leaks. For ASME construction, water heaters shall be constructed in accordance with the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IV Part HLW.
