Presentation
The T 0302 mixer is designed for sound systems, allowing the mixing of various types of audio signals with high fidelity, ensuring the original dynamics of the sound. It features a 4-band equalizer that allows you to increase or decrease specific ranges of bass, mids, and highs, enabling professional control in any situation. Its outputs with timed MUTE avoid undesirable noises (Pops) when turned on or off, eliminating the need for sequential activation and facilitating installation.
The T 0302 features 3 input channels. CHANNEL 1 is balanced with two shared connections: one XLR and one 1/4" (6.3mm) jack. This is a high-sensitivity, wide-gain input, suitable for microphones or line-level signals (LINE IN). CHANNELS 2 and 3 feature shared L+R RCA inputs, also compatible with a 1/4" jack for greater connection flexibility.
All 3 inputs have independent controls for:
- Gain: For adjusting the input signal level.
- EQ Controls: 4 bands (HIGH, MID HIGH, MID LOW, and LOW) with ±15dB boost/attenuation.
- Level: For output control of each channel.
The 2 outputs have high amplitude, capable of delivering up to +18dBu or 6.3Vac of distortion-free signal.
Important Recommendations
Use the P4 adapter with terminals that comes with the product to connect the power wires to the vehicle's 12V battery. Use 1.5mm² gauge wires for both the positive and negative wires. Screw the wires according to the following instruction:
- 1- Terminal on the battery positive (+)
- 2- Terminal on the battery negative (-)
As protection, a fuse must be installed close to the positive pole of the battery (1A fuse). See page 07 of this manual for more details. For the REMOTE connection, use 0.5 mm² wire.
The sound mixer must be fixed in an easily accessible and ventilated place. It is not recommended to install the product on the sides of speakers, as vibrations can damage its internal components.
To avoid noise pickup, use good quality shielded signal cables and connectors.
⚠️ CAUTION: Check power polarity and recommended gauge. It is recommended to install a 1 Ampere fuse on the positive supply terminal.
Product Overview
This section provides an overview of the T 0302 sound mixer. Install the mixer in an easily accessible place and, if fixing is necessary, use the 4 screwing holes to avoid possible vibrations.
Front Panel Layout:
- Power Section: POWER (12V-350mA), ON/OFF button, REMOTE IN/OUT connectors.
- Input Channels (1, 2, 3): MIC/LINE 1 (XLR/1/4" combo), LINE 2 (RCA/1/4"), LINE 3 (RCA/1/4").
- Output Connectors (AUX, MAIN): RCA/1/4" connectors.
- Channel Controls (per channel): GAIN, HIGH EQ, MID HIGH EQ, MID LOW EQ, LOW EQ, LEVEL CHANNELS, MUTE button.
- Master Controls: PHASE (for AUX OUT), AUX LEVEL, VU-METER (output signal level indicator), MAIN LEVEL.
- LED Indicators: CLIP (red, indicates input saturation or MUTE active), SIGNAL (green, indicates signal presence).
- Mounting Points: Four screw holes for secure installation.
Connections
Inputs
- MIC/LINE (1): Balanced inputs for XLR (Cannon) and 1/4" (6.3mm) TRS connectors. ATTENTION: these inputs DO NOT have Phantom Power.
- LINE (2 & 3): Unbalanced inputs for RCA or 1/4" (6.3mm) TRS connectors. These allow receiving signals from various sound equipment such as CD/DVD/MP3 players, audio processors, etc., with high-level outputs.
Outputs
- AUX OUT: Features an RCA connector in parallel with a 1/4" (6.3mm) TRS connector. This output mixes all input signals, including Left (L) and Right (R). It includes a phase inversion button and an independent level control, but also responds to the MAIN LEVEL control.
- MAIN OUT: Features an RCA connector in parallel with a 1/4" (6.3mm) TRS connector. This output mixes all input channels, including Right (R) and Left (L).
Functions and Controls
- GAIN: Adjusts the input signal level. Use this to prevent input saturation, indicated by the CLIP LEDs.
- HIGH: Increases or reduces treble frequencies by up to ±15dB.
- MID HIGH: Increases or reduces mid-high frequencies by up to ±15dB.
- MID LOW: Increases or reduces mid-low frequencies by up to ±15dB.
- LOW: Increases or reduces bass frequencies by up to ±15dB.
- LEVEL CHANNELS: Adjusts the audio level of channels 1, 2, or 3 that will be mixed at the outputs.
- MUTE: Mutes the channel mixing at the outputs. Useful for quick channel muting without changing gain settings. When activated, the red CLIP LED will light regardless of the input signal level.
- LED INDICATORS: Red LED indicates channel input saturation or MUTE button pressed. Green LED indicates that the channel is receiving signal at its input.
- PHASE: Inverts the signal phase of the AUX OUT channel by 180°.
- AUX LEVEL: Adjusts the audio output level at AUX OUT.
- VU-METER: Indicates the output signal level.
- MAIN LEVEL: Controls the signal level at the main outputs.
Installation: Power and Activation
The T 0302 is designed for car audio systems with a 12V battery but can also be used with an external 12V plug adapter (minimum 2A current, purchased separately). Ensure the adapter plug is the standard P4-2mm type.
The unit features an ON/OFF button that bypasses the REMOTE IN connections. It can also automatically turn on and off via the REMOTE IN connection. To use this feature, keep the ON/OFF button in the OFF (unpressed) position.
The REMOTE OUT connection can be used for powering amplifiers and is timed to minimize transients during system startup and shutdown.
- REMOTE IN (01): Electrical connection that automatically turns the unit on or off via a remote cable from a CD/MP3 player. Use 0.5 mm² cable. Note: If the ON/OFF button is pressed, the device will not turn off via remote activation.
- REMOTE OUT (02): Output for activating other devices, such as amplifiers, that have a remote input. This output is current-limited (max 100mA) and requires a 0.5 mm² or higher gauge cable.
- 12V POWER SUPPLY (03): Uses a standard P4/12V 2mm power connector. Use the included TERMINAL/P4 adapter or a separate 12V adapter source. Use a 1.5mm² cable for connections and install a 1A fuse on the positive wire as close as possible to the battery, following the markings on the TERMINAL/P4 adapter: ⬈ to the battery's 12V positive terminal, ⬊ to the battery's negative terminal.
- POWER ON/OFF (04): Turns the sound mixer on when pressed, regardless of the REMOTE IN signal. If REMOTE IN is active, this button will not turn the device off until REMOTE IN is deactivated.
⚠️ CAUTION: Check power polarity and recommended gauge. It is recommended to install a 1 Ampere fuse on the positive supply terminal.
