Safety Requirements
To ensure proper use, read this manual before using the amplifier. It is important to be aware of the CAUTIONS provided.
- Installation must be performed by a qualified professional.
- Use safety glasses, insulated gloves, and correct tools for installation.
- Install the amplifier in a firm location with at least 1" (25mm) of space around the heatsink for adequate heat dissipation.
- Never install the amplifier in places exposed to dust, humidity, or water. Keep it away from fuel tanks, fuel lines, heat sources, and other vehicle parts.
- Carefully check the polarity of the power supply wiring (battery terminals) and loudspeakers, as well as the minimum speaker impedance.
- Installation of fuses for overload protection is mandatory. The fuse or circuit breaker must be installed as close as possible to the battery and sized according to the amplifier's requirements.
- Avoid running wires over or through sharp edges. Use rubber or plastic grommets to protect wires routed through the vehicle's body.
- Before making any connections to the amplifier, disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
- When in use, the external surface of the amplifier may become hot. Avoid touching the heatsink area and keep children away.
- This amplifier can produce high sound pressure levels. Avoid continuous exposure to levels above 85dB to prevent permanent hearing loss.
- Speaker output connections may carry voltage levels when the amplifier is operating. Ensure the amplifier is turned OFF before connecting or disconnecting these terminals.
- If you wish to dispose of this amplifier, do not throw it in domestic waste. It must be collected by a specialized electronic product disposal service for proper recycling.

Installation Procedure
General Steps:
- Follow all procedures described below.
- Taramps is exempt from any responsibility if procedures are not followed by qualified professionals.
- Completely insulate all system connections to avoid electrical contact with the vehicle chassis.
- Accessories and peripherals (e.g., CD/DVD Players, equalizers, crossovers, or other 12-volt equipment) should be disconnected from the vehicle's original connections. These will be powered by an auxiliary battery bank designed for the system's needs.
- Safety circuit breakers must be installed in a visible and easily accessible location for operation and maintenance.
- Energy accumulators (12.6VDC batteries) must be insulated after installation to prevent accidents, electric shock, arcs, and vehicle damage (fire).
- All connections must be made with all circuit breakers turned OFF.
Turning On the Amplifier:
- Check that the system is not shorted or in contact with the vehicle chassis.
- Ensure the negative points of the high voltage battery bank and the 12.6 VDC battery negative point are connected together.
- Connect the respective loudspeakers to the amplifier's output.
- Verify that your batteries are properly charged.
- Keep the volume control (Level) at minimum.
- Activate the remote to turn on the pre-amplifier.
- After checking the pre-amplifier, disconnect the remote, activate the circuit breakers, and then turn on the remote again.
- Set all volume settings, frequency cuts, and enjoy your new amplifier.
Caring for Your Sound System:
- After using the sound system, turn off all circuit breakers.
- Never move the vehicle with the safety circuit breakers engaged.
- Do not connect the battery charger while the sound system is in operation.
- Do not use any charger other than the specified one.
- Do not start the vehicle engine while the sound system is in operation.
- Engine starting (ignition) is only permitted when all safety circuit breakers are turned OFF.
Observation: Failure to comply with any of the above procedures fully exempts Taramps from any responsibility regarding the risks of use. To enjoy this high-technology, high-quality, and powerful amplifier, follow all safety procedures step-by-step, as non-compliance may void the warranty.

Functions & Inputs
The rear panel of the amplifier features several connection points and controls:
- 1 - INPUT: Connect to the RCA output of your CD/DVD Player using good quality shielded cables to avoid noise pickup. The Left (L) and Right (R) input signals are mixed internally.
- 2 - THRU OUT: This output (L and R) can send the same input signal (INPUT) to another amplifier.
- 3 - LEVEL: Adjusts the amplifier's input sensitivity for optimal performance and volume.
- 4 - 12.6VDC POSITIVE TERMINAL (1.5A): This terminal is for powering the pre-amplifier. It requires an exclusive 12.6V battery and a relay activated by the Head Unit's remote signal.
- 5 - FANS: The amplifier has four internal ventilation fans. For optimal functioning, it must be installed in a cool, airy place with at least 1" (25mm) of free space around the heatsink for proper heat dissipation. The typical operating temperature is 65°C.
⚠️ The fans and ventilation openings are crucial for cooling the amplifier during operation and must not be obstructed.
LED Indicators & Protections
- GREEN LED (HV): Indicates high voltage presence at the power terminals.
- BLUE LED (ON): Indicates the amplifier is powered on.
- YELLOW LED (CLIPPING): Indicates clipping and protection modes.
- RED LED (PROTECTION): Indicates protection modes.
LED Status Meanings:
- SHORT: Red LED is on.
- LOW VOLTAGE (HV): Blue LED alternates with yellow.
- HIGH VOLTAGE (HV): Blue LED alternates with red.
- MISSING (HV): Blue LED blinks.
- TEMPERATURE: Yellow LED blinks (refer to page 8 for details).
12V Voltage Status:
- LOW VOLTAGE 12V: If voltage is less than 9VDC, the red LED flashes twice.
- HIGH VOLTAGE 12V: If voltage exceeds 16VDC, the red LED flashes three times.
Output & Power Supply Connector
The rear panel features speaker outputs and power inputs:
- 1 - SPEAKER +/-: Output connectors for loudspeakers (positive and negative).
⚠️ Due to the presence of voltage at the output terminals when the product is on, avoid contact. Risk of electric shock.
- 2 - POWER +/-: Positive and negative power input terminals for high voltage.
⚠️ Before making any connections to the power terminals, ensure the vehicle battery's negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
- 3 - FANS: Four internal ventilation fans provide cooling. Ensure at least 1" (25mm) of clearance around the heatsink for proper airflow. The typical operating temperature is 65°C.
⚠️ The fans and ventilation openings are responsible for cooling the amplifier and must not be obstructed.
Important Notes:
- This is a high-voltage powered device. Exercise extreme caution during installation to prevent incidents.
- Use well-insulated tools.
- Cables and circuit breakers should be of good quality, with well-protected and insulated connections, following specified gauges.
- Improperly sized wiring can degrade amplifier performance, cause power loss, overheating, and pose a serious fire risk. Recommended wiring gauges are detailed in the scheme on page 06.

Interconnections
To operate at 12.6 Volts, one or more batteries are required to supply the pre-amplifier and other equipment (Head Unit, crossover, equalizers, amplifiers, etc.), as shown in the scheme.
Wiring Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the connection of the vehicle's original battery and alternator, auxiliary batteries, circuit breakers, the amplifier, and loudspeakers. It emphasizes the use of appropriate cable gauges (e.g., 21mm² for output cables up to 2m) and mandatory circuit breakers (e.g., 130A for the main power supply).
Safety Warnings for Interconnections:
- To prevent electrical shock to the vehicle's bodywork, it is mandatory to turn off both circuit breakers before connecting the HIGH VOLTAGE battery system. Turn them back on only after the entire system is powered off.
- Do not use the vehicle chassis as a grounding point for this system.
- Locomotion of the vehicle with the sound system in operation is forbidden.
- For maximum power and amplifier performance, use at least 24 batteries of 130 Amperes each.
Charging the Battery Bank
Serial Connection - 24 Batteries of 12.6VDC
For the battery bank in series to be fully charged, it is recommended to use individual sources for each battery. The diagram shows an example using a 15A Taramps source.
Mandatory Installations:
- Installation of DC circuit breakers is mandatory.
- A 15A fuse is expressly mandatory on the positive output of each battery.
- Installation of 130A DC circuit breakers is mandatory for the amplifier power supply.
The 15A battery charger is not included with the HV 160.000 amplifier.

** NOTE: The HV 160.000 features a controlled thermal protection system. When the amplifier reaches 90°C (194°F), thermal protection activates, audio is stopped, and the yellow LED flashes. Audio resumes normal operation only when the amplifier cools down to below 70°C (158°F). It is recommended to keep the amplifier on during thermal shutdown to reduce cooling time via fan ventilation.

Manoel Martins – Alfredo Marcondes, SP – Brazil, ZIP CODE 19180-000, guarantees this product against defects in project, manufacturing, and assembly, or arising from project flaws that render it improper or inadequate for its intended use, for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. In case of a defect during the warranty period, TARAMPS' responsibility is limited to the repair or substitution of the device.
This warranty excludes:
- Products damaged by improper installation, water infiltration, or unauthorized tampering.
- Tampered or torn warranty seals.
- Cases where the product is not used under adequate conditions.
- Defects caused by accessories, modifications, or features attached to the product.
- Product damage from falls, impacts, or natural events (flooding, lightning, etc.).
- Improperly filled or torn warranty cards.
- Costs associated with uninstallation, reinstallation, or shipment of the equipment to the factory.
- Any damages resulting from product issues or losses caused by discontinued use of the product.
