This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, use, and care of the HALO BassiNest Swivel Sleeper.

Important Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these warnings and instructions could result in serious injury or death.

Adult assembly is required. Keep small parts away from children.
Read and follow all instructions before assembly and use.
Inspect the BassiNest swivel sleeper for damaged hardware, loose or missing components, or sharp edges before each use. Do not use if parts are missing or broken. Contact HALO Innovations for replacement parts.
Discontinue use when the child can push up, roll over, sit up unassisted, or move out of the sleep area.
Never leave a child unattended.
This product is not intended to be resold or returned to a retailer.

Fall Hazard

Do not use when the infant begins to push up on hands and knees or has reached 20 lbs (9 kg). Always check that the bassinet is securely locked on the base.

Suffocation Hazard

Use only the pad provided by the manufacturer. NEVER add pillows, comforters, or other padding.
NEVER place additional objects in the BassiNest swivel sleeper.
Always ensure the pad is positioned correctly, with no gaps between the pad and mesh sides.
For reduced SIDS risk, place healthy infants on their backs to sleep.
Use only sheets provided by the manufacturer or specifically designed for the BassiNest mattress.
Never use plastic bags or film as a mattress cover.
Discard all plastic packaging materials immediately.
Product is designed for use with one baby only.

Strangulation Hazard

DO NOT place items with strings around a child's neck.
DO NOT suspend strings over a bassinet/crib/cradle or attach strings to toys.
DO NOT place the BassiNest swivel sleeper near windows or patio doors where cords from blinds or drapes can strangle an infant.

Injury Hazard

Never place more than one infant in the BassiNest swivel sleeper.
Never carry the BassiNest swivel sleeper with an infant in it.
Do not allow children to play unsupervised in the vicinity of the BassiNest swivel sleeper.
Always remove the child from the BassiNest swivel sleeper before adjusting height.
Ensure the sleep area is securely attached to the base before use.
Place the BassiNest swivel sleeper on a horizontal floor.
Not for use in an automobile.
Be aware of the risk of open fires and strong heat sources nearby.
Do not place anything in the BassiNest to elevate the mattress.

Assembly Instructions

IMPORTANT! Please keep these instructions for future reference.

Remove contents from carton and discard all packaging.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, attach legs to the underside of the base using 8 large screws. Tighten securely.
Assemble the sleep area by fully opening the top flaps and side panels to expose the railing poles. Attach railing marked "A" into sidewall opening marked "A", and push together until the spring pin engages. Repeat for remaining railings and sidewall openings. Note that only one rail and sidewall connection will have a letter indicator. The railing will click when properly assembled. Pull on the railing to ensure it is locked in place.
It is necessary to detach the fabric cover from the fastener strip before inserting the sidewall. Slide the bottom of the sidewall into the opening in the base. Repeat on the other side. The sidewall will click when properly installed. Pull on the sidewall to ensure it is locked in place.
On both ends of the BassiNest, fold the fabric cover over the sidewall and secure using the fastener strip. Then fold the fabric flaps over the top and bottom of the sidewall and attach using the fastener tabs.
Install batteries (3 AA, not included) in the Soothing Center (not on Essentia models).
Attach the Soothing Center to the bottom of the sleep surface using the small screws provided. Tighten securely (not on Essentia models).
Attach the sleep area to the base. Check that no red stripe is visible on the post to confirm correct assembly.
Add Mattress: The mattress comes with a fitted sheet. Remove and wash the sheet before use. Use only the mattress and sheet designed for the BassiNest swivel sleeper. Do not machine wash the mattress; wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth.

Use Instructions

Adjusting Height:

Place the BassiNest next to the bed so that two legs are parallel to the side of the bed and one leg is under the bed. Release the adjustment lever. Pull up on the BassiNest bed to increase height or push down to lower. Close the adjustment lever when the desired height is reached. Never adjust bed height with your baby in the bed.

Retractable Wall:

To unlock: On both ends of the BassiNest swivel sleeper, slide the locking mechanisms out of the sidewall notches until the front wall moves freely. It is not necessary to remove the fabric covering to access the locks. If the lock is difficult to use, lift the retractable wall slightly and adjust the lock.

To use: Push down gently on the front railing. The retractable wall automatically returns to its upright position when pressure is removed.

To lock: On both ends of the BassiNest swivel sleeper, slide the locking mechanisms into the sidewall notches until the front wall is immobilized.

Removing Bed from Base:

Push and hold the release button while lifting to remove the bed from the post. Never remove the sleep area from the base with your baby in the bed. Never use the sleep area when not attached to the BassiNest base.

Storage Pockets:

Pull the elastic band at the top of the pocket to open. Insert items for storage and easy access. Release to close. Do not store sharp objects or objects weighing more than 5 lbs (2.2 kg).

Moving the BassiNest Swivel Sleeper:

DO NOT attempt to move the BassiNest with your baby in it. First, remove the bed from the base or post. Move the base to the desired location and reattach the bed. Do not try to move the BassiNest swivel sleeper by lifting, pulling, or pushing the bed while it is attached to the base or post.

Soothing Center Operation (Premiere Model Only)

NOTE: Three (3) AA batteries must be installed to operate.

(A) Floor Light: Push the downward-facing bulb button to activate. Push again to turn off. Automatically shuts off after 15 minutes if not manually turned off.
(B) Nightlight: Push the upward-facing bulb button to activate. Push a second time for increased brightness. Push a third time to turn off. Automatically shuts off after 15 minutes if not manually turned off.
(C) Soothing Sounds: Push the play button to activate. Cycle through sound options (heartbeat, white noise, babbling brook, rainforest) by pressing the play button multiple times. Press the play button a final time to turn off. Automatically shuts off after 30 minutes if not manually turned off.
(D) Volume: Press for low volume. Press a second time for high volume. Press a third time to turn off soothing sounds. Automatically shuts off after 30 minutes if not manually turned off.
(E) Vibration: Push the vibration button to activate. Push a second time for stronger vibration. Push a third time to shut off. Automatically shuts off after 30 minutes if not manually turned off.

Care and Maintenance Instructions

Remove the sheet from the mattress and wash the sheet before use. The sheet is machine washable. Machine wash in warm water with like colors/colours. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry on low setting.
Clean the BassiNest swivel sleeper base, sleep area, and mattress regularly with a mild cleaning solution and a damp cloth. Do not use bleach. Do not machine wash the mattress. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners. Rinse with water to remove residue. Allow to dry completely before replacing the sleep pad and/or use.
When not in use, clean the unit as instructed and store in a clean, dry location. Do not store outdoors or in a damp environment.
Do not attempt to unscrew the sleep surface board or remove the lining cover from the board.
For large spills, spray a mixture of vinegar and water into the sides and wipe under the lining cover as much as possible. Let the top air dry before use.
Do not submerge the BassiNest sleep surface board or walls in water.

Battery Safety Information (Batteries Not Included)

In exceptional circumstances, batteries may leak fluids. To avoid battery leakage:
Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types (Alkaline, standard, rechargeable).
Insert batteries as indicated inside the battery compartment.
Remove batteries during long periods of non-use. Always remove exhausted batteries. Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of product in fire.
Never short-circuit battery terminals.
Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended.
Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
Remove rechargeable batteries before charging.
Rechargeable batteries should only be charged under adult supervision.
