Installation Steps ▶️
- Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your property and turn it off. Open a nearby tap to drain residual water from the system.
- Remove Old Fitting: If replacing an existing tap, disconnect the water supply hoses and carefully remove the old fitting. Clean the mounting surface.
- Prepare New Fitting:
- Screw the flexible connection hoses into the base of the Bristan Maple tap body. Hand-tighten first, then use an adjustable wrench to tighten a further half-turn. Do not overtighten.
- Ensure the rubber washer is correctly seated in the tap base.
- Mount the Tap: Insert the tap body through the mounting hole on the sink or worktop. Place the rubber washer, metal washer, and securing bracket onto the threaded tail of the tap from underneath.
- Secure the Tap: Screw the securing nut onto the tap's threaded tail. Tighten firmly using the provided bracket and an adjustable wrench until the tap is stable and does not move. Avoid overtightening.
- Connect Water Supply: Connect the free ends of the flexible hoses to the corresponding hot and cold water supply valves. Ensure the correct hose is connected to the correct valve (usually red for hot, blue for cold). Tighten connections securely.
- Check for Leaks: Slowly turn the main water supply back on. Check all connections, including hose connections to the tap and supply valves, for any signs of leakage.
- Test Operation: Turn on the tap to check the flow of hot and cold water. Ensure the handles operate smoothly. Check the aerator for proper water stream.
Care and Maintenance ?
To maintain the finish of your Bristan Maple fitting, clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the surface.
Periodically check connections for tightness.
Troubleshooting ❓
Low Water Flow: Check the aerator for blockages. Unscrew and clean it if necessary.
Leaking Tap: Ensure all connections are tight. If leaking from the handle, the internal cartridge may need replacing (contact Bristan for parts).
