Installation
Note: The images shown are for illustrative purposes only. The tap you have purchased may look different to those pictured but will follow the same installation steps.
Your contents page will be specific to your product. If you find your product or any of its components differ from those shown, please contact customer support.
-
Step 1
Look underneath the tap body to observe fixing kit rod(s) and tail inlet positions. Depending on the model, the tap will utilise 1 or 2 fixing kit rods. Refer to contents page.
Diagram: An illustration showing the underside of a tap body, highlighting holes for the fixing kit rod and flexible tails. It indicates that some models may use one or two fixing rods.
-
Step 2
Screw the fixing kit rod(s) into the base of the tap. Screw in the flexible tails by hand only. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
Your model may come with a plinth and will either be included pre-attached or loose in the box*.
Diagram: Shows the fixing kit rod being screwed into the tap base and flexible tails being hand-tightened. It also depicts a plinth and rubber seal.
-
Step 2*
If required, thread the flexible tails and fixing kit rods through the plinth and rubber seal (if loose) and align with tap body.
Look for any grub screw holes on the plinth as these may be required to fix it to the tap body (these can be located underneath the rubber seal).
-
Step 3
Thread the flexible tails and fixing kit rods through the basin hole. If the hole is not large enough for both tail ends to fit through, unscrew one of the flexible tails and screw back in from underneath the basin.
Diagram: Illustrates the flexible tails and fixing rod passing through a hole in a basin.
-
Step 4
From underneath the basin, slide the fixing rod(s) through the rubber gasket first and then the metal c plate. Align the gasket and c plate, then begin tightening the nut up the rod towards the basin until secure.
Diagram: Shows the components being assembled underneath the basin, including a rubber gasket and a metal 'c' plate, with a nut being tightened onto the fixing rod.
-
Step 5
Connect the hot and cold water supplies to the flexible tails and turn until tight. Hot on the left, cold on the right.
Diagram: Illustrates connecting the hot and cold water supply hoses to the tap's flexible tails. It shows the correct placement (hot on the left, cold on the right) and depicts incorrect installations like bends, 90° angles, kinks, and twists with 'X' marks.
-
Step 6
Turn on water supply for a few minutes and check all joints and connections for any leaks. Your tap is now ready for use.
Waste Installation and Operation
-
Step 1
Fit the waste above the basin ensuring the washer is in place.
Diagram: Shows the waste assembly being fitted into the basin.
-
Step 2
Push waste into hole until the outer rim sits flush with the bottom of the basin. Then place the washer from underneath and tighten the backnut to secure the waste to the basin.
Diagram: Shows the waste being pushed into the basin and the backnut being tightened from underneath.
-
Step 3
Push the centre down to close the waste. Push again to open and release contents of basin. Your waste is now ready for use.
Diagram: Illustrates operating the pop-up mechanism of the waste.
General Cleaning
Bristan products are made from premium materials, with hand polished, electroplated, PVD or EPD finishes.
Your taps or shower should be regularly cleaned with warm water, a mild pH-neutral liquid soap, and polished with a soft cloth. Any residues from soap, toothpaste, shampoos and shower gels can cause blemishes if not rinsed off straight after use.
Household bleaches and cleaners contain harsh chemicals and may damage the surface finish. Avoid using abrasive cloths, scouring pads, scrub sponges, steel wool or anything similar.
Maintenance
Cartridge/ Valve Replacement
-
Remove indice by pulling it loose, then undo hex grub screw to remove handle.
Diagram: Shows removing the handle cover and grub screw.
-
Using a box spanner will ensure that you can reach the retaining nut if it is recessed into the tap body. Remove the shroud and retaining nut and then lift the cartridge out of the tap. (Some shrouds may need to be unscrewed by hand before removing).
Diagram: Illustrates using a box spanner to remove the retaining nut and then lifting out the cartridge.
-
Reverse the steps to replace the cartridges/valves and handles.
Clean/ Replace Outlet
-
1a. Flow Straightener
Using an adjustable spanner, unscrew gently to remove the outlet. Observe the outlet and use the corresponding tool. Note that thinner spouts will have open outlets and not be removable.
Diagram: Shows unscrewing the outlet using a spanner.
-
1b. Recessed Outlet
If your model comes with one, insert the key tool into the outlet and twist to release it.
Diagram: Shows using a key tool to release a recessed outlet.
-
1c. Coin Slot Aerator
Using a coin, insert into the slot on the outlet and twist to release it.
Diagram: Shows using a coin to release an aerator with a slot.
-
Step 2
Check all loose parts for any damage, then soak using a suitable solution to de-scale.
