Water Resistance
Important Information: Read This First
For all categories of watches, the following are prohibited:
- Pressing buttons underwater.
- Changing hands underwater.
- Unscrewing the crown underwater.
If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it. Do not wear a watch with a leather strap while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.
Watches are classified by water resistance ratings (from I to V) according to their degree of protection against water. Consult the table below to determine the correct usage for your watch.
Rating | Case Marking | Splashes, Rain, etc. | Washing, Sweating, etc. | Swimming, Snorkeling | Scuba Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | - | Yes | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
V | 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes:
- Rating I: Watches are not protected against water. Avoid any moisture.
- Rating II: WR (Water Resistant) means the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause problems.
- Rating III: Watches with 5 BAR (50 meters) water resistance can withstand water pressure as indicated and can be used while showering and for brief swimming.
- Rating IV: 10 BAR (100 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
- Rating V: 20 BAR (200 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).
When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This phenomenon is due to the laws of physics and is not a defect.
CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of these watches and does not accept any claims from third parties.
Crown Operation
Your watch may differ slightly from the illustrations in this manual.
Note: Some water-resistant models are equipped with a screw-lock crown.
- To pull out such a crown, you must first unlock it by turning it in the direction indicated in the illustration. Do not apply excessive force when pulling out the crown, as this may damage it.
- Be aware that the watch becomes unprotected from water and moisture when the crown is pulled out. After completing any operations with the crown, return it to its original position and lock it.

- Depending on the model, the backlight is provided by electroluminescent (EL) elements or LEDs. EL elements lose power after prolonged use.
- Frequent use of the backlight shortens battery life.
- Activating the backlight for an extended period or with a low battery charge may cause the watch hands to stop moving for a while.
