Please read together with the Wii U console instruction manual or the Wii console instruction manual.

In this document, the Wii U console and Wii console are collectively referred to as "the console".

Set Contents

※ A LAN cable is not included. Please prepare a commercially available one.

To Use Safely (Please Read)

To protect your health and prevent accidents, please read the following precautions before use and adhere to them.

Notes on Use

The LAN adapter is a precision instrument. Please pay special attention to the following points when using it.

⚠️ Warning

⚠️ Caution

The LAN adapter is composed of plastic and metal parts. It is dangerous if burned, so please follow your local government's instructions for disposal.

Usage Precautions

Part Names

LAN cable connection terminal: Connect the LAN cable here.

USB plug: Connect to the console's USB terminal.

(Diagram description: A visual shows the Wii LAN adapter with a USB plug on one end and an RJ-45 LAN port on the other. The USB plug is labeled as connecting to the console's USB terminal, and the LAN port is labeled as connecting the LAN cable.)

Connection Method

When connecting or disconnecting, ensure the console is powered OFF (power indicator light is off or lit red).

※ For small children, parents should perform the connection.

Connection Procedure

1. Connecting the Console and LAN Adapter

Connect the USB plug of the LAN adapter to the USB terminal of the console.

※ Wii U console has USB terminals on the front and back. Wii console has USB terminals on the back.

(Diagram description: Shows a Wii U console (rear view) with a USB port. The LAN adapter's USB plug is shown connecting to it.)

If the console's USB terminal is occupied, you can use a commercially available USB hub. For information on usable USB hubs and connection methods, please visit the Nintendo website.

2. Connecting the LAN Adapter and Communication Device

The connection method between the LAN adapter and communication device varies depending on your communication environment. Please check your communication environment and connect according to the following.

(Diagram description: A network diagram shows a Broadband Router connected to a Modem (e.g., ADSL, Cable Modem). The Broadband Router is connected via LAN cable to a PC and to the Wii LAN Adapter. The Wii LAN Adapter is then connected to the Wii U console.)

※ Connect the LAN adapter after setting up the communication device. For connection and setup of communication devices, refer to the communication device's instruction manual.

※ Ensure the LAN cable clicks securely into place when inserted.

※ Connect the LAN cable to the LAN port of the broadband router.

(Depending on your home environment, you may be able to connect directly to the indoor internet jack. For details, please contact your network provider.)

Connection Notes

LAN cables for internet connection come in two types: straight and crossover. Always use the cable specified by your communication device (broadband router, ADSL modem, cable modem, network termination unit, etc.).

It is recommended to use a DHCP-compatible router for broadband routers.

A computer is required to configure the broadband router.

If you are using a modem with a built-in router, a broadband router is not necessary.

If using a bridge-type modem (modem without a built-in router), connect to the broadband router as shown in the diagram on the left.

※ You cannot establish a PPPoE connection from the console when connected to a bridge-type modem.

Setup Method

Internet setup methods vary depending on the console used.

For Wii U Console

In the Wii U Menu, select "Console Settings" -> "Internet" and follow the on-screen instructions.

For Wii Console

In Wii Options, select "Console Settings". For details, please refer to the Wii Console Instruction Manual (Function Edition).

(Diagram description: Shows a screenshot of the Wii U connection settings screen with options like "Use this connection", "Connection Test", "Change Settings", "Clear Settings", and "Back". The text indicates that if setup fails, "Use this connection" will be grayed out. Selecting "Change Settings" allows configuration. Choosing "No" for automatic IP address assignment allows manual setup.)

Setup Notes

If the broadband router is in bridge mode, internet connection is not possible. Please set it to router mode.

If you are sharing the communication line used by the LAN adapter with other network devices (e.g., computers), you may not get sufficient communication speed for games when using both simultaneously.

The LAN adapter supports 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX network standards. If the communication device you are connecting to is set to 1000BASE fixed, communication will not be possible. If the communication device has an auto-negotiation function, enable it. If it does not have auto-negotiation, set it to communicate at 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX.

Troubleshooting (What if it's broken?)
