Some individuals (approximately 1 in 4000) may experience seizures or blackouts triggered by flashing lights or patterns, even if they have no prior history. If you or your child has a history of seizures, loss of awareness, or other epilepsy-related symptoms, consult a doctor before playing video games. Parents should supervise children during gameplay and stop immediately if symptoms like convulsions, eye/muscle twitching, altered vision, loss of awareness, involuntary movements, or disorientation occur. To reduce the risk:
- Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible.
- Play on the smallest available television screen.
- Do not play if tired or sleepy.
- Play in a well-lit room.
- Take a 10-15 minute break every hour.
[Warning Symbol] Repetitive Motion Injuries and Eyestrain
Prolonged gameplay can cause muscle, joint, skin, or eye discomfort. To prevent issues like tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, skin irritation, or eyestrain:
- Avoid excessive play; parents should monitor children's playtime.
- Take a 10-15 minute break every hour, even if not feeling strained.
- If hands, wrists, arms, or eyes feel tired or sore, or if you experience tingling, numbness, burning, or stiffness, stop playing and rest for several hours.
- If symptoms persist or discomfort continues, stop playing and consult a doctor.
[Caution Symbol] Motion Sickness
Video games can cause motion sickness. If you or your child feel dizzy or nauseous, stop playing and rest. Do not drive or engage in demanding activities until feeling better.
