Troubleshooting
Solutions for common issues encountered with the Tactacam Reveal camera.
Photos Do Not Capture Subject of Interest
- Check the "Sensor Level" (PIR sensitivity) setting. For warm conditions, set to "High"; for cold weather, set to "Low".
- Position the camera away from heat sources in its line of sight.
- Avoid placing the camera near water or moving objects that might trigger it without a subject. Aim over clear ground instead.
- Do not mount the camera on small trees prone to strong winds.
- Remove any branches or foliage obstructing the camera's lens.
Camera Stops Taking Images or Won't Take Images
- Ensure the SD card is not full. If it is, the camera will stop capturing images. Enable "Cycle Recording" to prevent this.
- Verify that alkaline or NiMH AA batteries have sufficient power.
- Confirm the camera's power switch is in the "On" position, not "Off" or "Test" mode.
- Format the SD card using the camera before initial use or when the camera stops taking images.
Night Vision Flash Range Doesn't Meet Expectation
- Ensure batteries are fully charged.
- Use the "Max Range" setting for better IR flash range. Adjust Night Mode to Max Range for optimal night vision.
- High-quality 1.2V NiMH rechargeable AA batteries provide improved IR flash range compared to alkaline batteries, which may lack sufficient amperage.
- Surroundings like trees, walls, or ground can help reflect IR light for better night images. Avoid aiming the camera into an open field with nothing to reflect the flash.
