Setting Up Your Account

For new users, visit the REVEAL Web Portal at account.revealcellcam.com to set up your account. You can also access the portal via the app.

Existing users with active cameras can log in to the app and add the new camera.

Download the REVEAL App

Download the Tactacam REVEAL app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Sign in using the same email and password created on the website.

[App Store] [Google Play]

Add Camera to the App

  1. Navigate to the REVEAL app and log in. Click the home icon.
  2. Click the menu in the upper left corner.
  3. Select "+ Add a Camera".
  4. Choose your plan and camera model.
  5. Follow prompts, allow phone camera access, and scan the QR code on the camera.
  6. Name your camera and assign a location.

On-Screen Settings

The Pro 3.0 allows full control of camera settings via the screen using the keypad (left, right, up, down, enter). For best results, it is recommended to leave settings in factory mode.

Connecting to WiFi

  1. Turn on the REVEAL LCD screen using the "Power" button.
  2. When the Wi-Fi icon flashes, it's ready to pair with your phone or tablet.
  3. In the app, go to the Account page and click "Connect to REVEAL Wi-Fi".
  4. Follow in-app instructions or manually connect via your phone's Wi-Fi settings (SSID: REVEAL, Password: Reveal2021 - case sensitive).
  5. Preview on screen: Red line indicates the point of focus. Press "Power" to send a test picture.

Remotely Change Camera Settings from the App

From the camera page, click the camera name, then select "Camera Settings". Ensure "Apply Settings" is selected to save changes.

Note: In "Settings Check", Daily mode checks settings every 24 hours. Hybrid mode keeps the camera awake for 5 minutes after each picture to receive SMS commands. Instant mode receives settings instantly but uses more battery.

Sending a Test Picture

  1. Allow the camera to connect to 4G. Signal strength is displayed on the screen.
  2. After activation, the signal status indicator will search and then connect, showing signal strength.
  3. After connecting, press the power/enter button to send a photograph. A success message will appear on the REVEAL screen.
  4. If the picture fails to send, a failure message will display.
  5. Ensure a motion-detected picture is sent to your phone via the app (may take a few minutes).

Leaving Your Camera in the Field

  1. Using the display screen or Wi-Fi stream, position the camera for your desired focal point.
  2. Wipe down the seal to remove dirt and debris.
  3. Press the left navigation arrow to enter work mode, or allow the camera to enter work mode automatically. The camera will then send photos.

Best Practices

Proper Camera Placement

  1. Location and placement are critical for optimal performance.
  2. Avoid hanging the camera on small, moving trees.
  3. Place the camera at waist height on a tree or post.
  4. Point the camera down about 7 to 15 degrees, or use the REVEAL Tree Mount.
  5. For best lighting, face the camera North, away from the sun.
  6. If placed too high and angled down, the field of view narrows. This is useful for bait stations or scrapes.
  7. On a food plot: Camera height and angle are critical for the widest field of view. Do not place too high.
  8. On a trail: For the best view, angle the camera up or down the trail, rather than perpendicular to it.

Batteries and Cellular Trail Camera Performance

  1. Use recommended batteries: Energizer® lithium, Duracell® Max alkaline, Rayovac® UltraPro alkaline.
    • Do not mix old and new batteries.
    • Do not mix battery types (alkaline, lithium, standard, rechargeable).
    • Ensure correct polarity (+ and -).
    • Remove batteries if the product will be unused for a long time.
  2. In cold weather, use lithium ion batteries for optimal speed and performance.
  3. If using the External Solar Panel (sold separately), AA batteries act as a backup. When paired with a REVEAL Lithium Cartridge, the Solar Panel V2 charges the Lithium Cartridge V2.

Troubleshooting

Camera Sends Pictures of Nothing

Motion sensors (PIR sensors) detect heat and motion. False triggers can occur due to heat, wind, vegetation, or precipitation.

  1. Clear the camera's field of view (5-10 yards in front) of low-hanging branches, brush, and weeds.
  2. Motion sensitivity: Start with High sensitivity. Decrease if receiving too many false triggers (9 is highest, 1 is lowest).

Night Vision Flash Range Doesn't Meet Expectation

  1. Ensure batteries are fully charged.
  2. Select "Max Range" for better IR flash range. Adjust Night Mode to Max Range.
  3. High-quality 1.2V NiMH rechargeable AA batteries can improve IR flash range.
  4. Note: For cold weather use, lithium batteries are recommended for consistent results.
  5. Surroundings (trees, walls, ground) within flash range can improve night images. Avoid aiming the camera in an open field with nothing to reflect the IR flash.

To Help Prevent Theft or Damage

Use a protective security box, available at tactacam.com.

Camera Stops Taking Images or Won't Take Images

  1. Ensure the SD card is not full. Turn on SD Loop to overwrite older images.
  2. Ensure alkaline or NiMH-AA batteries have sufficient power.
  3. Format the SD card before use or when the camera stops taking images.

Internal Condensation on Lens

The REVEAL is IP66 rated waterproof. Condensation may occur if the antenna is not screwed in properly, or if the seal has dirt or debris.

If the Camera Has Accidentally Been Submerged in Water

  1. Do not open the camera immediately.
  2. Dry the exterior housing, preventing water from entering the interior and causing damage.
