Videos
Installation videos are available at www.doorbird.com/support. Each step is documented in the videos.
Installation
All steps should be carried out carefully by a competent adult, considering applicable safety regulations. Contact DoorBird or a specialist if you have questions. Ensure all wires are undamaged and approved for use.
Network speed and network components
Ensure your internet connection has at least 0.5 Mbps upload speed. You can perform a speed test via the DoorBird App. Network speed, stability, and quality of network components (router, access points) are crucial for user experience. Ensure network components are no older than two years, from a reputable manufacturer, and have the latest firmware installed.
Installation Steps
STEP 1: SWITCHING OFF POWER
Turn off power to all wires leading to the assembly location (door chime, electric door opener, power supply unit, PoE-Switch/PoE-Injector, etc.).
STEP 2: DISMANTLING THE EXISTING DOORBELL
If a doorbell or door station is already present, dismantle it.
STEP 3: DETERMINING THE ASSEMBLY LOCATION
The device uses an ultra-wide-angle hemispheric lens, allowing for a low installation height. The camera lens is not mechanically adjustable. The camera lens should be at an altitude of at least 125 cm (49.22 in). Test the height before final mounting. Consider lighting conditions; avoid direct sunlight, backlight, and reflective surfaces. Direct sunlight can damage the device and the image sensor.
STEP 4: REMOVING THE FRONT PLATE
Carefully remove the front plate using the provided screwdriver.
STEP 5: ASSEMBLING THE MOUNTING HOUSING
Assemble the mounting housing (backbox) to the wall. Refer to the datasheet for detailed drawings and measurements. Ensure no cables or mains are present in the wall before drilling.
STEP 6: POWER SUPPLY OPTIONS
The device can be powered by the supplied mains adapter (Option 1) or via PoE (Option 2). A DIN-rail power supply unit is also available.
Option 1: Power supply using the mains adapter
Do not plug in the mains adapter yet. Use only the supplied adapter or a DoorBird DIN-rail power supply unit. Using other adapters may destroy the device or cause poor transmission quality. Warranty is void if a different power supply is used.
Option 2: Power supply via PoE
To power the device via PoE, use a PoE-Switch or PoE-Injector supporting IEEE 802.3af Mode A. Use Cat.5 or better network cable. Ensure the four wires for PoE also carry the data link. The device will not start if your PoE-Switch/PoE-Injector does not support IEEE 802.3af Mode A.
- Disconnect the PoE-Switch or PoE-Injector from the power grid.
- Run the network cable to the installation location.
STEP 7: CONNECTING THE DEVICE
Connect cables and wires to the labeled connection ports. Remove any unused cables. Strip about 5 mm of insulation from wire ends before connecting to the green screw connection terminal. Handle the front plate with care to avoid scratches. Use the nylon cord to temporarily fix the front plate while connecting cables.
Ports and Connections
- LAN/PoE: RJ45 jack for standard Network cable (Cat.5 or better) from Internet Router/PoE-Switch/PoE-Injector. Do not power the device simultaneously via mains adapter and PoE.
- REL1, REL1 / REL2, REL2: Bi-stable latching relays (max. 1-24 V DC/V AC, 1 Ampere). Can be used to connect an electric door opener. The device does not supply power to the connected device. For secure installation of electric door openers, use a remote safety relay (e.g., DoorBird I/O Door Controller A1081).
- BELL, BELL: Switching relay (max. 1-24 V DC/V AC, 1 Ampere) for connecting a conventional door chime. Not for devices with 110-240 V DC/V AC door chimes.
- EXT, EXT: Door opener button input (potential-free). Triggers the first bi-stable latching relay (REL1). Do not apply voltage to these ports.
STEP 8: ASSEMBLING THE FRONT PLATE
Assemble the front plate to the mounting housing.
1. Pull the front panel into the mounting housing.
2. Push the front panel up.
3. Insert the security screws.
STEP 9: ACTIVATING THE DEVICE
Switch on the power to the assembly location. If using PoE, switch on the PoE-Switch or PoE-Injector. Do not power the device simultaneously via mains adapter and PoE.
Check the Diagnostic-LED, which lights up after 30-60 seconds. The device is ready for operation after a short diagnostic sound from the loudspeaker (may take up to 5 minutes). If no sound is heard, check the power supply and connections.
STEP 10: DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING THE APP
Download the "DoorBird" App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refer to www.doorbird.com/support for the App manual. In the App, go to "Settings > Add device" and scan the QR code from the "Digital Passport". If the device is not online (www.doorbird.com/checkonline), check the network connection and power supply.
Device Features

Connecting Call Buttons to the Multi Tenant Module
Applies only to devices with 2 or more illuminated call buttons with nameplates. Connect only call buttons certified by Bird Home Automation.
J1 = 1. call button jack, J18 = 18. call button jack.
