Service Description
Wireless broadband with optional landline service for residential customers. The You Choose offer is only available when bundled with an electricity service. Wireless broadband connects your home through a 4G wireless connection. Mercury offers four plans for wireless broadband: 120GB, 300GB Urban, 300GB Rural, and 1000GB.
Availability
Wireless broadband is only available in rural and urban areas where applicable 4G coverage and capacity are available. You can check your availability of our services when signing up on our website or by calling us on 0800 789 505.

The You Choose offer is only available to new residential customers who join Mercury for electricity and broadband services at the same address on a 2-year term. Joining bonuses are determined by the broadband plan chosen at sign-up.

The optional landline service connects you to the public phone network for free local calls. National, international, mobile, and 0900 numbers will be charged at standard rates. Additional calling packages are available.

Wireless broadband services require a wireless broadband router supplied by Mercury. A $14.95 postage and handling charge applies.
Additional Data Charges
Additional data packs are available for capped wireless broadband plans at $10 for 10GB. Packs can be automatically or manually applied. A one-off 10GB pack is automatically applied when your monthly data allowance is consumed (if no manual packs were added). There is one automatic pack available per month. Four manual data packs are available for purchase per month. Data packs are valid for 30 days.
You will receive an email/text notification at 80% and 100% of your monthly data allowance.
Set Up Charges
You will receive a free standard connection. A postage and handling charge for your router will apply.

Additional charges may apply for non-standard installations and in-home technician work. See our phone and internet terms for details. Electricity and gas charges also apply for energy services.
Broadband Performance
Performance
Actual speeds are affected by device capabilities, number of connected devices, operating system, web browser, and wireless connection quality. Find out more about factors that may influence your speed.
As this is a wireless connection, factors like distance from the cell tower, network capability, and overall cell tower usage can impact experienced speeds. The supplied Mercury router is capable of providing estimated peak time average speeds, subject to these factors.

Early Termination Fee
If you terminate or switch providers within the term, an early termination fee applies. This fee varies based on the joining bonus and reduces monthly. An early termination fee is payable only once.

Notice Period (Termination)

Traffic Management
Mercury may manage traffic at peak times (e.g., by limiting download/upload speeds) to ensure a positive customer experience. Customers will be notified of any material changes to this policy.
Speed Restrictions
For non-capped plans, if your full monthly data allowance is consumed, speeds will be reduced to 5Mbps until the next plan renewal. This may affect video resolution, streaming, and image loading. Actual speeds may be less than 5Mbps due to other factors affecting wireless broadband.
Service Restrictions
A service restriction policy may influence broadband performance. See clause 5.5 of the phone and internet terms.
Fair Use Policy
No fair use policy applies.
Effects on Other Services
The wireless broadband service requires mains electricity. If electricity is unavailable (e.g., during an outage), the broadband service and any services running over it may stop working unless a battery backup is in place. This can affect landlines, medical alarms, and security alarms. Customers are responsible for checking compatibility with their service providers. It may also prevent emergency contact (e.g., calling 111). A charged mobile or alternative arrangement is recommended.
