Width Options
The gate can be configured to fit various opening widths using extensions. Please refer to the following configurations:
- Config. 1: 29.3" - 35"
- Config. 2: 32.3" - 35"
- Config. 3: 35" - 37.6"
- Config. 4: 37.8" - 40.6"
Important Note: Never install all extensions on the same side of the gate.
Installation
-
Measure Opening Width
Measure the width of the opening at the top and bottom. Ensure the opening is within the specified range for the chosen configuration. If the opening is not level, measure the narrowest point.
-
Choose the Installation Method
Select the appropriate installation method based on your needs:
- A. Pressure-mounted installation (for areas with low safety hazard potential): Requires no drilling.
- B. Pressure-mounted installation (with wall cups): Requires drilling for wall cups.
- C. Hardware-mounted (screws) installation: Requires drilling for secure mounting.
-
Select Extension
Based on your opening width, select the appropriate extension. Refer to the table provided:
Opening Size Extension Needed 29.3" - 35" 1 32.3" - 35" 2 35" - 37.6" 4 37.8" - 40.6" 6 Note: To ensure optimal safety and stability, it is recommended to use extensions to fit the opening size, rather than over-tightening the tension bolts.
-
Assembled Installation
Place the bottom crossbar of the safety gate into the ramp grooves.
Note: The gate is installed correctly when the wire rope can be removed. If the wire rope cannot be removed, it indicates that the tension bolt needs to be tightened further.
-
Install Tension Bolts
Insert the tension bolts into the holes at the left and right sides of the gate. Ensure the holes are not threaded before inserting.
-
Tighten the Bolts and Complete Installation
Pull out the bolts at the left and right side at equal distance and rotate the nuts to tighten.
If the gate is bounding, it means the nuts are too tight. This is normal.
Use the supplied Wrench (F) to tighten the bolt further until the gap of the latch is 1/16" wide (roughly the thickness of the supplied wrench).
Test the gate by slightly shaking it firmly to check if the installation is secure and sturdy.
Ensure the left and right clearance between the gate and the wall is consistent, and the gate is perfectly upright (not skewed).
-
Remove the Wire Rope
Once the gate is installed correctly, the wire rope can be removed. If the wire rope cannot be removed, it means that it is necessary to tighten the tension bolt more.
Operation
-
Cut the Belt
Cut the belt used for shipping.
-
Open and Close the Gate
To open the gate, lift the latch and swing the door. The gate is equipped with a dual lock mechanism for child safety.
-
Automatic Closing Feature
When the gate is opened between 35 to 90 degrees, the automatic door closer will stop the gate. Successful closing is indicated by a click on the latch. The door will stay open when opened more than 90 degrees.
Troubleshooting
- Gate does not open or interact properly:
- The gate may be over-tightened or not tight enough. Ensure the door gap is 1/16".
- The mounting surfaces may not be level. Adjust tension bolts on each side until the gate is centered and equidistant from the wall at the top and bottom.
- The gate may not be properly aligned. Loosen all tension bolts, reposition the gate, ensure proper alignment, and re-tighten.
- Gate becomes loose on the wall:
Check if the gate is properly tightened. Refer to Step 6.
- Accidentally cut the belt or need to reinstall:
Use another rope or belt to tie the guardrail before removing it. Assistance from others may be needed for reinstallation.
Special Cases
For Use with Baseboards
Check baseboard compatibility. The gate is compatible if:
- The top opening is less than or equal to the maximum range of the configuration.
- The bottom opening is greater than or equal to the minimum range of the configuration.
If either condition is not met, the gate is not compatible. Do not attempt to fit the gate by installing it above the baseboards, as this increases the risk of tripping and compromises safety.
Example of compatible baseboard installation:
A gate opening of 33" with a top opening of 35.6" and a bottom opening of 33" is compatible with Config. 2 (32.3"-35").
Example of incompatible baseboard installation:
A top opening greater than the maximum range of the configuration, or a bottom opening less than the minimum range, indicates incompatibility.
For thick baseboards, the supplied Up Cup (I) may be used to extend the reach of the upper tension bolt, but it may not be sufficient for very thick baseboards.
For Use with Banisters and Irregular Surfaces
The gate is compatible with flat surfaces with sufficient contact area. Surfaces such as round banisters, banisters with very little contact area, or curved and irregular baseboards are not compatible.
Attempting to install on incompatible surfaces increases the risk of the gate falling and may result in serious injury.
Important Safety Information
- To prevent serious injury or death, securely install and use the gate according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Never use with a child able to climb over or dislodge the gate.
- This product will not necessarily prevent all accidents.
- Never leave a child unattended.
- Use only with the locking mechanism securely engaged.
- Intended for use with children from 6 months through 24 months of age.
- Stop using the gate if any parts are missing or damaged.
- Periodically check all fasteners to ensure they are tight and secure.
- Adult assembly required.
- The surfaces to which the gate is fixed must be suitable and structurally sound.
- Do not use outdoors or expose to outdoor elements.
- Install the gate away from heaters and other heat sources.
- Children have died or been seriously injured when gates are not securely installed. Always install and use gates as directed, using all required parts.
- Wall cups must be installed to keep the gate in place. Without wall cups, a child can push the gate out and escape.
- Never use to keep a child away from a pool.
- Gates must be installed at least 4 inches from the first step of a stair.
- Use of any third-party accessory is not covered by warranty, and any consequences of such usage are not the liability of the manufacturer or brand.
- The gate must be installed against the floor when not using the ramp.
Maintenance
- Clean using a sponge with warm water or mild detergent.
- DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or bleach.
- Regularly check the gate to ensure all hardware and mounts are securely tightened.
- DO NOT use if any components are damaged or missing.
