About Your New Thermostat
Congratulations on the purchase of your new Honeywell thermostat. It is designed to provide years of reliable service and easy-to-use, push-button climate control. Key features include one-touch temperature control, a large, clear, backlit display for easy readability, and a removable battery holder for quick replacement.
Getting Started
Your thermostat is pre-programmed by the installer. You can check and adjust settings as needed. The fan can be set to 'Auto' (runs with heating/cooling) or 'On' (runs continuously). The system can be set to 'Heat', 'Cool', 'Off', or 'Auto' (automatically switches between heating and cooling).
Controls and Display
Familiarize yourself with the thermostat's controls, including the temperature adjustment buttons and function buttons located below the display. The display shows current indoor temperature, temperature setting, fan setting, and system status. A low battery warning will appear when batteries need replacement.
Operation Modes
- Fan Setting: Select 'Auto' for energy efficiency or 'On' for continuous air circulation.
- System Setting: Choose 'Heat' for heating only, 'Cool' for cooling only, 'Off' to disable both, or 'Auto' for automatic changeover between heating and cooling.
- Auto Changeover: This feature is ideal for climates with both heating and cooling needs on the same day. The thermostat automatically selects the appropriate mode based on indoor temperature, maintaining a 3-degree separation between heat and cool settings.
- Compressor Protection: Built-in protection prevents the compressor from restarting too quickly after shutdown, avoiding potential damage. The display will flash 'Cool On' or 'Heat On' during this protective delay.
Battery Replacement
Replace batteries annually or when the 'Replace Battery' warning appears. Batteries provide backup power during outages. For assistance, visit www.honeywell.com/yourhome or call Honeywell Customer Care at 1-800-468-1502.
Troubleshooting
If the display is blank, check circuit breakers and ensure the system's power switch is on. For heating or cooling system issues, verify settings and ensure the furnace door is securely closed. If 'Cool On' or 'Heat On' is flashing, allow the compressor protection feature time to complete its cycle.
