4. Product Installation
This section details the installation process, connecting the module to the vehicle's existing head unit.
General Connection Diagram: The diagram illustrates connecting the module's LCD module and main PCBA to the OEM head unit and OEM cable. It shows connections for the phone/USB stick, and specific inputs/outputs like Rear camera, Front camera, Camera 12V out, Reverse detect, B+/BATT+, GND, and MIC.
Switching Between Interfaces: To switch between the original OEM UI and the new Add-on UI, press and hold the "INFO" button.
Detailed Wiring: A separate diagram shows USB expansion for connecting USB flash drives, mobile phones, and software updates. It details front and rear video input ports (CVBS), camera power supply, reverse detection, BATT+, GND, speaker connection, and an additional microphone interface. It also references connection details for Porsche PCM3.1.
Fiber Optic Cable Transfer: If applicable, transfer the original fiber optic cable from its original connector to the new connector provided with the module.
5. Original Car Button & Dip Switch Explained
The module integrates with the vehicle's original controls.
Steering Wheel Controls:
- Make and receive calls.
- Long press for 3 seconds to switch systems or perform a forced upgrade (10 less forced upgrade).
- Short press to hang up the phone; long press near Siri for voice commands.
Center Console Controls:
- TUNER, MEDIA, SOURCE, SOUND: Standard audio/media controls.
- PHONE: For call management.
- INFO: Used for system switching (long press).
- NAVI, MAP, OPTION: Navigation and system options.
- Rotary Dials/Buttons: Control volume (rotate left/right), change tracks (next song), and reset the system (press and hold for 10 seconds).
6. The First Connection Operation Description
This section guides through the initial setup for wireless connectivity.
6.1 Connection Wireless Apple Carplay
Follow these steps for the first wireless Carplay connection:
- Navigate to the CARPLAY menu interface. Select 'Settings' > 'Discover and connect device'.
- A pop-up window will appear. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth and search for the device named "CX_BTFC4BBC1A1D94".
- On your Apple mobile phone's Bluetooth settings, find and pair with "CX_BTFC4BBC1A1D94".
- Confirm the Bluetooth pairing request on your phone.
- Once paired, select 'Use CarPlay' to enable the Carplay interface on your car's screen.
Note: Ensure Bluetooth is fully matched. The mobile phone will automatically connect to Carplay next time when WiFi is enabled.
P.S.: For the initial connection, using a USB wired method first can help enable wireless Carplay. After 15 seconds of connecting the data cable, wireless connection should be automatic.
6.2 Connection Wireless Android Auto
Follow these steps for the first wireless Android Auto connection:
- Enter the wireless Android Auto Settings interface.
- Click on the device pair "CX_BTFC4BBC1A1D94".
- Use your Android mobile phone's Bluetooth to connect to "CX_BT...".
- Once pairing is successful, the Android Auto interface will appear on your car's screen.
Note: The wireless auto connection is successfully established when the Android Auto interface is displayed.
P.S.: Similar to Carplay, an initial USB wired connection can facilitate wireless Android Auto. After connecting the data cable, the wireless connection should be automatic after 15 seconds.
7. Function Description
The module offers a range of functionalities:
- Wired/Wireless Carplay
- Wired/Wireless Android Auto
- Screen mirroring function (Apple, Android)
- USB multimedia playback (supports lossless audio, 720p video, and picture playback)
- Support for original car's rear-viewing camera, aftermarket rear-viewing camera (CVBS/AHD), and front-viewing camera (can be set up) or DVR.
- Support for expanding to 360 panorama (CVBS/AHD).
- Separate adjustment for audio EQ, music, and navigation volume using car buttons.
- Support for original car MIC, including automatic correction function for calling cords.
- Support for original Bluetooth call function.
- Support for AUX input, which can expand digital TV functionality.
- Support for wired Baidu CarLife (requires enabling in factory settings with password: 0301).
7.1 Screen Mirroring
Apple:
- Disconnect any active wireless Carplay or Android Auto connection.
- Click the 'Mirroring' icon on the car's interface.
- Connect the USB cable to your Apple mobile phone. A prompt will appear on the phone.
- Accept the prompt to enter the screen interface.
Android:
- In the Mirroring interface, insert the USB cable into your Android phone.
- An "Autolink" download box will pop up on the mobile phone. Click to download and install the application.
- After installation, the phone interface will display the Auto Link icon.
- Re-insert the Android phone into the "Mirroring" interface. A prompt will appear: "Open the USB default connection box". Click "OK".
- The connection will be established.
7.2 USB Media / Commonly Installed System Function Settings
USB Media: Inserting a USB drive will automatically launch the USB player interface, supporting lossless audio and 720p video playback.
Automatic Echo Cancellation: If you experience echo during calls, navigate to 'Audio Settings' and enable 'Automatically eliminate the echo'. It is recommended to adjust the original car's volume to 50-70 for optimal echo cancellation effect.
Language Settings: You can select the desired language from the installation settings interface. Available languages include English, Simplified Chinese (简体中文), Traditional Chinese (繁體中文), Spanish (Español), French (Français), Portuguese (Português), Turkish (Türk), German (Deutsch), Polish (Polski), Russian (Русский), and Dutch (Nederlands).
7.3 Commonly Installed System Function Settings
Audio Settings: Adjust settings such as Main Volume, Navi Volume, In Call Volume, Ringer Volume, and Voice Assistant Volume. The default values are recommended.
Advanced Features: Configure settings like Park Distance control, Aftermarket Camera, Original Camera, Rear Camera, 360 Panoramic, AHD Camera Type, Factory USB Switch, and Front-view Display Time. If installing an AHD camera, select the corresponding frame rate in the AHD settings.
UI Settings: Customize the user interface, including Driver Position and Wallpaper.
8. System Upgrade
To update the system software:
- Copy the upgrade files from your computer to a USB device. After decompression, place the ISPBOOOT.BIN file and the OSU_SETTITINGS folder (or the update file) in the root directory of the USB disk.
- Insert the USB drive into the module.
- Navigate to the main interface > Settings > Version Information > About Device > Update.
- Select the corresponding upgrade file and initiate the upgrade process.
Important: Do not power off the device during the upgrade process. Ensure the USB disk file name is correct and verify the vision information before proceeding.
9. Common Fault Investigation
Troubleshooting common issues:
- Blurred/Indistinct Screen: Check the LVDS cable connection to the host for poor contact.
- No Sound in Carplay: Ensure the Carplay sound channel is set to the original car's AUX. If no sound persists, play music from the aftermarket source and then switch to the original car's AUX to activate.
- Echo During Calls: Resolve echo by enabling the 'Automatically eliminate the echo' function in the Settings.
- No Sound in Carplay Music/Calls: Check if the sound is routed through the USB AUX channel. Ensure connection to the original car Bluetooth or mobile phone.
- Black Screen with Normal Sound: Turn off the mobile phone's WiFi and Bluetooth. Check if the installation interface is displayed normally. If reversing fails to display, check the after-sale interface settings.
