CARABC Wireless CarPlay Adapter User Manual
Wireless Connection Instructions
Follow these steps to establish a wireless connection between your iPhone and the CARABC adapter.
Step 1: Connect the Adapter
Insert the adapter into the USB interface of your car's original CarPlay system. The adapter features a standard USB-A connector on one end and a Type-C connector on the other, which plugs into the car's CarPlay USB port. The Type-C connector displays a [CarPlay Logo] symbol.
Step 2: Pair via Bluetooth
On your iPhone, navigate to Bluetooth settings. Search for and pair with the CarPlay device named "smartBox-XXXX" (the specific name may vary, e.g., "smartBox-E6CC", "smartBox-46CC", or "smartBox-E6AA"). Once paired, the iPhone's Bluetooth settings will indicate "Connected" to the smartBox device.
Step 3: Activate CarPlay
After a successful Bluetooth connection, your car's display will prompt you to use CarPlay. Select "Use CarPlay" to launch the CarPlay interface on your car's screen. This allows seamless integration of your iPhone's apps and functions.
Visual Aid Description: A sequence of screenshots illustrates the process: an iPhone's Bluetooth menu showing the "smartBox-E6CC" device as connected, followed by a car display showing the "CarPlay" interface with the "BT Name: smartBox-E6CC". Another iPhone screenshot shows a prompt asking "Use CarPlay with 'smartBox-46CC'?", with options to "Not Now" or "Use CarPlay". The final image shows the CarPlay interface with various app icons like Phone, Music, Maps, Messages, Waze, Podcasts, and Audiobooks.
Online Upgrade Instructions
Important Note: If the product is functioning normally, it is not recommended to upgrade the firmware unnecessarily.
Upgrade Procedure: Insert the adapter into a USB 5V power supply for the upgrade process. Note: The original car's CarPlay USB interface is not suitable for powering the upgrade. Ensure you disconnect any active CarPlay connection before proceeding with the upgrade.
The upgrade process requires connecting the adapter to a power source (e.g., battery charger or power bank) and then connecting to a specific Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi network name is typically "smartbox..." and the default password is "88888888".
Step 1: Connect to Wi-Fi
Connect your iPhone or a compatible device to the Wi-Fi network broadcast by the adapter (e.g., "smartBox-E6AA"). Enter the password "88888888".
Step 2: Access Upgrade Website
Open a web browser (Safari is recommended) on the connected device and navigate to the IP address: http://192.168.1.101. On this page, click the "Upgrade" button and wait for the process to complete.
Visual Aid Description: A series of screenshots demonstrates the upgrade steps: iPhone Wi-Fi settings showing connection to "smartBox-E6AA"; a web page displaying "System Version" with fields for "Car Make", "Model Name", "Year", and "Problem Description" which can be filled out; a subsequent screen showing an "Online Update" prompt with an "Update" button and "Update Notes" (e.g., "1. fix some bugs"); and a final screen confirming "Your software is up to date".
